Chapter 690: BLACK RAIN AND DARK SKY (32)

How could Cane not know alpha Colter and Koda’s intention, they had been very adamant to meet with Iris to make her checked on the baby’s condition. They wanted her to cure the baby. They had been waiting for this opportunity for long and became very anxious when baby Vemion’s condition worsened.

That was why, they were thrilled when they learned Iris would come as well, though they were a little bit confused of how Iris could be suddenly in the Black Market when the last report they received about her was; she was still in the Bloody Wolf pack.

But, that was not a problem right now, since they she was already here, the baby would have a chance to survive.

The curse was very cruel. It didn’t make the baby died immediately, but it gave the baby a very slow and painful death, giving them hope and then crushed it into pieces if they couldn’t manage to save the baby.

Even now, they had started to think to concoct a backup plan and look for another baby with the same age as baby Vemion, in case the worse come to worst.

"I hope the luna will be fine soon, I will let Laluna to come to your room tomorrow, so luna Iris will be more comfortable," Koda said. His statement sounded like he was having a lot of concern for Iris, but in truth, he only cared about his great grandson and it sounded very demanding, though he wrapped his words beautifully.

"I will let you know if my mate is fit enough to meet with anyone." Of course, Cane was able to pick up the intention and felt the demand from Koda. The meeting wouldn’t be on Koda’s term, but it would be on his term, that was what he emphasized here. "Until then, I wish no one will bother her. Checking on your great grandson will be a crucial moment, I want her in her best condition, or else, we will not be able to bear the consequences, right?"

Alpha Colter and Koda tried to appear calm and supportive, suppressing their annoyance, knowing what game Cane was playing. They should have learned how cunning this alpha was and how he couldn’t be easily told of to do something.

"Yes, alpha, you are very right. We need the luna to be in her best condition." Alpha Colter nodded sagely.

At the very least, they knew how to read the situation and forcing their own wish onto Cane was not even and option. This alpha was not someone, who would bend to their demand.

However, before they could discuss more problem, suddenly the door was slammed opened and Ethan entered the room, he didn’t even knock first, as he made a beeline toward Cane with anguish on his expression.

"Alpha, can I talk with you for a while?" Ethan asked. "Alone." He urged Cane to have a private conversation.

Koda was about to reject the idea, but Cane had told them to go out of the room first.

Seeing the urgency on the gamma’s face and didn’t want to get Cane’s bad side when he just arrived, the two of them left the room.

"Let’s continue this discussion after dinner, you need to rest too, alpha..." Alpha Colter said and after that, Koda closed the door behind him.

Meanwhile, Cane was still in the same position, as he watched his gamma became fidgety. Something big must have come up if Ethan acted this way and Cane prepared himself for the worst.

"Cane, Iris..." Ethan barely mentioned Iris when Cane suddenly stood up, thinking something bad happened to his mate, but the gamma immediately stopped him. "No, no, Iris is fine. She is fine, but she saw..." Ethan gulped down with difficulty. "She saw Asher and Reed’s spirit... both of them had died."

Cane narrowed his eyes, he was about to order Ethan to get the list of people, who didn’t survive the battle in the south, but now he learned two of Iris’s personal warriors had died.

Cane didn’t have any idea how the dead spirit appeared before Iris and why only a certain people, who would show up to her, like Avid and the fallen warriors when they were in the Goffa’s mountain, Zale’s sister and now it was Asher and Reed, but why the other fallen warriors didn’t appear before her as well?

"They are currently in between the border of Bloody Wolf pack and Riverside pack and I need to go!" Ethan said urgently, it almost looked like he was going to flee, once he got the permission."

"There is nothing you can do even if you go back now." Cane was being rationale, more so, the road was very dangerous to go through right now with alpha Nolan and the royal warriors were still in the south and alpha Gallot still occupied Moon Dew pack.

"No! I need to go now!" Ethan was very adamant, which was not like him at all.

"What is it?" Cane asked.

For a moment, Ethan was hesitated to speak, but then he blurted out. "Aliana... she is trapped under the rock and no one seems to be able to locate her. I need to go now."

Asher and Reed gave Iris the information, they told her what happened and she was inconsolable after she ’sent’ them away.

"Go to Lou, he should be fine by now." It had been a week since the last time he collapsed from overusing his power, he should be fine and could create the portal again by now. "If he refused, told him Iris was inconsolable after learning what happened to Aliana."

If it was in different situation, Ethan must have chuckled by how Cane used Iris to overwork the merchant, but there was nothing could cast away the gloomy cloud from Ethan’s mind right now, as he nodded and then left the room to look for Lou.

Meanwhile, Cane walked out of the room as well. He was going to see iris. Her emotions would be all over the places by now, not to mention how sensitive she was lately.

Yet, before he could reach his bedroom, he met with Laluna, who came from the opposite direction. The woman lowered her head politely and timidly, while Cane walked past her without even gave any indication that he saw her.

"Alpha Cane!" Laluna stopped Cane, she rushed ahead and actually blocked his path, which made Cane frowned at her. "Alpha Cane, I am very glad that you are here right now... and you look fine. I was worried something happened with you on your way here, since your arrival had been delayed for a few days."

Cane nodded, as a gesture that he heard what she was saying, but said nothing, he stepped aside to avoid her. If only she was one of his warriors, he would have commanded her to stay away from him. However, he needed to keep it civil.

"Alpha Cane!" Laluna stepped aside too to block his path again, which made Cane frowned. If only Laluna took a moment to notice this, she would know how upset Cane was, as his black eyes turned cold. "Alpha Cane, I still want to thank you for what you have done to me when we were in the palace, I have not yet had a chance to thank you formally after that event because you were very busy and also..."

"Can you move aside?" Cane’s patient was running thin now. He wanted to reach his mate and console her, after what Ethan told him how sad she was right now, not to listen this gibberish nonsense from Laluna, more so, if by any chance Iris learned about him interacted with her, his mate could be upset and Cane didn’t want to upset her for something unimportant like this. "I need to go."

Laluna was taken aback by how cold Cane was. She only wanted to have a small talk with him, but he rejected her even without having a second thought.

"Oh..." Laluna lowered her head and Cane had to step aside to avoid her, this time, she didn’t block his way again, but after three steps, Laluna called him. "Alpha, do you know that your gamma is very suspicious?"

Cane stopped walking and glanced at her over his shoulder. What now she was going to spit out?

Seeing Cane was actually stopped walking away, Laluna immediately spoke, knowing this was her only chance. "The servant reported to me that your gamma entered your luna’s bedroom earlier and the two of them stayed inside for a while. Don’t you think it was very suspicious? It is not appropriate for the two of them to stay alone behind the close door, especially when you were not around."

It was clear what Laluna was trying to imply by saying such thing and the look of worry on her expression couldn’t be more fake than this.

Cane narrowed his eyes. "You spied on my mate and gamma?" His voice was calm, but you knew it was not a good thing for someone like Cane to be this calm upon hearing such confession.

"No, that’s..." Laluna stuttered. "I will not dare. I will never do such thing. My servants just happened to be there when luna Iris pulled gamma Ethan inside her room with a big smile on her face."

Well, to be honest, this was not the first time, Iris was being reckless, she must have forgotten Cane’s warning in the past because of how happy she was.

"Don’t think too much, my gamma doesn’t like woman."

"Huh?" Laluna’s jaw dropped.
