The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 654: IT’S A FAIR FIGHT
Chapter 654: IT’S A FAIR FIGHT
The withered flower dropped to the ground when Zephyr hurried them to leave the pack house, while in the distance, they could see fireworks, which indicating for them the situation became out of control. This was the sign for them to leave, to take the luna to a safe place.
"Winter Moon pack’s warriors closed the gates and killed our warriors!" Kian informed them, he just shifted into his beast. It was very inconvenient for them to not be able to communicate through mind link.
They had trained to overcome that, but still, it was a hurdle whenever they were in their beast form to communicate with each other more clearly and accurately.
"Winter Moon pack..." Reed hissed viciously when he heard that. They had been informed about the potential of betrayal from the Winter Moon pack, but they wished it wouldn’t come to that point.
Yet, the truth said otherwise.
"What is it? They betrayed us?" Iris frowned, as Aliana helped to put her cloak over her shoulders and rushed out of the room, while Zale followed closely behind her.
"Apparently so," Asher replied.
Meanwhile, Zephyr, Eron and Dyne shifted into their beast and went ahead to secure the path for Iris to leave Diandem pack house safely.
"What about the other?" Iris looked around her and she couldn’t see Celia, Haco or any other children from the orphanage.
"Don’t worry, luna, someone must have gotten them to the safety." Eron reassured Iris. "We will meet them on the way to Bloody Wolf pack."
Probably, Lil Thing could sense something was wrong and the tension in the air, it finally opened its eyes and moved its lazy bum to follow Iris and the other people toward the secret exit.
However, half way there, Lil Thing suddenly followed them and went toward different direction.
"Wait! Lil Thing!" Iris caught the white bear’s movement from the corner of her eyes and stopped walking, she was about to get Lil Thing back, but Aliana stopped her.
"No. We can’t go back!" Aliana tightened her grips on Iris’s wrist, just in case she was going to go after the bear.
"But, Lil Thing!" From afar, Iris could hear the commotion. Without a doubt, alpha Nolan had led his people to seal the gates of the pack and if they didn’t move quickly, they would be trapped.
If alpha Nolan had decided to betray Cane, it meant, Iris would be the first target that he looked for, since she could be a valuable piece to torture and inflict pain on Cane, knowing how much the alpha favored her.
"I will go to find it!" Zale could see how much Iris was worried about Lil Thing, so he wanted to ease her anxiety and bring back that furball back to her. He could see the luna was rather fond of the white bear.
"No!" Iris said sharply, as she caught Zale’s wrist before he could leave. "You will not go anywhere!" She said sternly.
Yes, Iris was worried with Lil Thing, but the lazy bear could fight better than Zale. The creature was ferocious enough to protect itself.
"Let’s go, we don’t have time!" Aliana hurried them all to move again.
Reluctantly, Iris had to leave Lil Thing behind. She felt very bad, but they couldn’t afford to look for it. Meanwhile, she held onto Zale’s hand tightly, just in case the young boy would run off to find Lil Thing.
The ten of them moved quickly toward the secret exit, but then Zephyr’s beast growled viciously, followed by Eron and Dyne’s in their beast form.
Someone was there with ill intention...
=================================
"How can you be here?" Lou frowned when he saw Alan was inside the bedroom, he was still exhausted, but his mind was sharp enough to determine there was something wrong with this whole situation.
More so, there was something completely wrong with Alan. He supposed to be not here. Lou could feel the traces of magic around him.
Someone teleported him here? Or... he teleported himself? the frown between his brows deepened. The latter was not possible. Alan was not a magic user.
But then, why there was someone stupid enough to teleport this imbecile here?
Should I kill him?
This would be a great chance to get away from the fierce punishment. More so, he would contribute a lot, no, Cane owed him a big time he killed Alan. This imbecile had been a scourge for them all. Who was the idiot, who had put him on the throne?
"Lou, isn’t it? The merchant..." Alan talked in languid tone, as he moved closer toward Lou, didn’t seem to care with the killing intention that fleeted across the merchant’s eyes.
He approached Lou’s bed and sat down next to him, as he stretched his hand to touch his head. At the same time, Lou was thinking of a way to kill Alan. It should be a clean one, because in his current state, he wouldn’t get a second chance. No matter how a waste of breath this man was, he was still a shifter, Lou wouldn’t stand a chance, once he shifted into his beast, while he didn’t have the energy, neither magic stone, to cast a spell on him.
However, what happened next was something that he had never expected would happen to him. He felt this cold feeling crept on his skin when the tip of Alan’s finger touched his head. As if winter had come only for him and a second later, memories that he had buried so deep into the back of his mind came to the surface.
The room he occupied blurred in his sight, but at the same time he saw another image. It was him when he was little, around the age of seven or eight, his body bruised and his head was bleeding, while boys around his age or older, mocked him, spat on him and said something horrendous.
This was the core of his childhood memory, something that he wanted to forget, something that he desperately wanted to get rid of his head, but a single touch of him brought back all the memories!
This was magic.
And this man was not Alan!
Lou realized it, but he couldn’t do anything when this magic user with the face like Alan dug all of his worst nightmare.
Another image that appeared in front of him was when his mother was being prosecuted right before his eyes. They burned her alive, Lou could hear her scream in pain and how the fire licked her beautiful face, while she begged them to stop. She was wearing her favorite red dress when it happened and the fire burned it too in a second.
"No... no..." Lou whimpered, his whole body was trembling, he was sweating profusely.
"Hm... hatred, revenge, trauma, denial..." Decratic talked to himself, seemingly enjoyed what this merchant could offer to him. He was not a simple merchant, he was a complicated one. "Interesting..."
Lou felt suffocated with all the memories that came to the surface without him being able to stop it, but then suddenly everything came to stop and the room came to his sight again, clearer than ever.
"Prince Alan?" Nala was shocked to see Alan was there. She retracted her claws and stood there dumbstruck.
Earlier, she came to let Lou knew they needed to leave because the Winter Moon pack barged the entrance gates, apparently they had betrayed alpha Cane, but when she came, she heard how Lou screamed in pain.
The first sight that Nala saw was this man’s back, he was sitting on the edge of the bed, seemingly did something to Lou and it was the cause of his pain.
Therefore, without a second thought, she attacked him.
But now, she was dumbfounded to meet with Alan. What he was doing here? But, more importantly, how he could be here? This didn’t make any sense at all.
"Prince Alan?... How?" Nala was still reeling with the presence of Alan when he stood up and approached her.
However, before Alan could touch her, Lou had moved very fast and used the fruit knife on the side of the table to stab him on the neck. The sharp steel pierced through his throat and blood spurted out from the wound. The color was black.
Nala screamed because some of the blood sprayed on her face and the sight of it was simply too terrifying for her to handle.
Yet, she didn’t have time to have a mental breakdown because Lou had grabbed her hand and ushered her out of the room.
"You... you just killed the king..." Nala blabbered.
"He is not the king! He is not Alan!" Lou couldn’t comprehend what happened, but his instinct told him to stay away from this man.
Before they left the room, Nala glanced to see Alan for a second and the sight was terrifying. She thought, he would drop dead to the ground, but he actually pulled the dagger from his throat like it was nothing, he didn’t even flinch.
"What... what’s that? Who is that?"
"I don’t know! Stop asking and start running!" Lou snapped and Nala shifted into her beast, so she could run faster. "Great! Now, I hope I can turn into bird!" The merchant grumbled.
People ran around to all direction and Lou needed to stop a few times to catch a breath and every time, Nala would stop as well. On the fourth time the merchant stopped, she shifted back into her human form and helped to support him, so they could continue to move.
"You can ask for my help, you know, why are you being very stubborn?!" Nala reprimanded the merchant because instead of asking for her help, he clamped his mouth, holding dearly to his pride for not asking her to help him.
"Help?" Lou scoffed derisively. His whole body was still trembling because of the nightmare of his past that he had to go through less than ten minutes ago. Whoever that creature was; Lou would kill him for sure to intrude his memory!
"Stop being an ass."
"I don’t need help." He didn’t need any help. He would end up hurting even more whenever he asked for help.
"You stupid ass merchant!" Nala growled. He was very heavy, but she couldn’t leave him alone. This was annoying.
And with that, the two of them bickered, as they walked to the safety. For Nala, it helped her, because apparently, being upset filled her with energy and for Lou, arguing with her helped him to distract his mind from his past.
But when they were about to reach the meeting point, where they would meet with Sabian, two warriors from Winter Moon pack stopped them.
"Go and kick their ass," Lou said, pushed Nala slightly to fight the two warriors, which made the woman seethed.
"Can’t you be more shameless than this? You asked me to protect you? When you are the man here?!" Nala couldn’t believe it. She had never met someone like Lou before. He was being a coward, but it didn’t seem to bother him at all.
"Can’t you see? I am not in the capacity to fight them. On top of that, I am not a shifter, you are the shifter. It’s a fair fight to fight with your own kind. I am just a merchant." Lou nudged Nala’s shoulder again. "Go."
"You don’t feel embarrassed at all when you asked me to protect you when you are the man here?"
"No." Lou shook his head innocently.
Yet, their argumentation was not a fun sight for the other two warriors, as they had more important thing to do. They charged ahead with the intention to kill Nala and take Lou as a captive, as per their alpha’s order.
However, when they came closer, Lou, who looked extremely exhausted, suddenly moved very quick and drew a small dagger that he happened to get when he fled from the room, but he missed the target.
"Shit!"
