The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 636: AN OFFER
Chapter 636: AN OFFER
What happened in the north?
Alpha Derick knelt down and pledged his loyalty to king Alan in order to save prince Kellan’s life, since he was the mate of the alpha’s daughter.
Now, three crucial packs in this continent were under the control of the royal, they showed support to their new king, Alan.
In that case, it left the Red Claw pack, Winter Moon pack and all the pack in the south under Cane’s control, which made Cane could be counted as a real threat with the larger territory and authority in this continent, not to mention the magic stone mines in the south and the mines in the Red Claw pack, which could make anyone salivated to get a chunk of it.
"Is that a threat?" Cane asked. He was not stupid not to realize that.
The fact they didn’t attack right away now, probably because they still wanted to taste the water, whether they could get him on their side or not, since Cane didn’t participate in the coup d’etat that Red Claw pack raised.
"We only wanted you to know where you are standing. The king’s order is absolute, denying the order will brand you as a traitor and just like how we know it very well what kind of punishment that will be given to those nasty traitors."
Dageus looked calmer than his second in command when he spoke, but it didn’t diminish the fact that he was trying to intimidate the alpha and the merchant before him.
In which, obviously didn’t work.
Their point was clear. They wanted to create a rift between Cane and Lou. Knowing they had worked together for the project in the Riverside pack and the Howling Wolf pack, not to mention there was this rumor that Cane spread around about how the merchant was one of his people, but at this moment, it was used against him.
They only demanded Lou, because they thought, it would be easier to drag Lou to the capital city and if Cane didn’t do anything, there was no way this merchant kept his loyalty to him anymore. After all, what bonded them together was benefit.
And if Cane rejected to hand over the merchant, he could be branded as a traitor, which justified the attack upon him.
Cane was going to lose no matter what.
This method of creating a rift among his people, was awfully familiar and both Cane and Lou knew that Alan was too dense to come up with this meticulous plan.
It would be people behind him, who had concocted the plan.
"We don’t want a battle. It will not give anything to us, aside from dead warriors. There is no need for that if you come with me peacefully, Sir Lou," Dageus spoke again and this time, Lou had stopped laughing, he wiped his tears from his eyes.
"I don’t care about the warriors, who will die if the battle broke out, they are not my people." Lou shrugged his shoulders and pointed Cane. "If you want to use that threat, use it against him, not me. You threatened the wrong person."
What he was saying was right. Lou couldn’t care less about how many warriors would fall into their demises. He was not going to hand over his precious life to that stupid king. They were talking gibberish when they said Alan would make a wise decision.
Lou would rather believe more on Lil Thing stopped being lazy, the chance was higher, than Alan was being wise and would spare his life, or at the very least, left him unscathed. He knew very well how that idiot man held dearly onto his grudge.
"Sir Lou, you are going to the Capital City whether you agreed or not. Alpha Cane, you can’t disobey the king’s order." Dageus’s face was avoid from any emotions when he said this.
The two of them were going to grab Lou and force him to come with them, knowing he was only a merchant, the two of them would be enough to drag him.
Casually, Cane fished out something from his pocket and showed it to them. It was the golden stamp that he obtained from the previous king, something that should be enough to command the whole warriors in this continent, the second highest authority after the king.
"Back off, warriors."
Lou smirked when Cane used the golden stamp to stop them. He forgot this alpha had this kind of thing.
Dageus and Dreggo furrowed their brows to see the golden stamp, they also forgot about it. "This is the king’s order, you can’t deny it."
"I don’t deny the king’s order, I only told you to back off."
In another words, they could take Lou away, but he wanted them to stay away from him too, which only left them with an option for Lou to come over to them on his own volition, something that would never happen.
The two of them were discussing this matter through mind link, they could see the way their eyes glazed over, before they finally came up with the conclusion.
"We will give you until tomorrow to give us the answer, you better think about this carefully," Dageus said firmly before he turned around and shifted into his beast, to go back to his warriors.
Meanwhile, Dreggo glared at Lou and Cane. "Make a wise decision, alpha. You don’t want to be thrown into slavery again."
"It’s so rich, coming from a slave like you." Lou smirked derisively when he heard that. "You are also only a slave for that king, right?"
Dreggo growled at Lou, he was enraged, but a vicious glare from Cane was enough to stop him in his track, especially when he spoke with such viciousness in his tone.
"Crawl back to your people warriors."
"This is the king’s territory!" Dreggo emphasized this. "The king has not yet agreed to make you the only alpha in the north!"
But then, Dreggo could hear Dageus’s voice in his mind, as his commander mind link him to back off before he escalated the situation. They needed to ask to the king before they proceeded with this.
Growling viciously, Dreggo turned around and shifted into his beast, as he rushed toward his warriors.
"I am so touch you used the golden stamp to save my ass!" Lou was being exaggerated when he showed his appreciation, he mage a grand gesture by bowing to Cane, but one could feel he was mocking the alpha.
Yet, his antics didn’t bother Cane anymore, he simply tossed the golden stamp toward Lou. "You can keep it."
Lou caught the golden stamp in time and frowned very hard. "What? Hey! Why did you give me this?! Don’t you know how much power you can have for holding onto this?! Hey!"
In the beginning, Lou was trying to annoy Cane, but now he was left alone, feeling annoyed, because the alpha had shifted into his beast and dashed away from him, as if he was a plague that he needed to avoid.
Of course, Cane knew the power that the golden stamp held, he asked for such thing because of that reason, but then he also knew, once Alan heard about it, he was going to annul the authority that came with the golden stamp, since he was the king, he could do that.
Cane was right, because a few days later, the royal announced the absolute authority was in the king’s hand and the golden stamp was no longer holding the same power.
Meanwhile, Eron arrived, he immediately looked for Ethan, because at that time, Cane was talking with Dageus and Dreggo.
"What is it?" Ethan frowned when he was dragged into one of the tents by Eron.
"The alpha needs to see this," Eron said, as he handed the letter from Nexus, their spy in the north. "The Winter Moon pack worked for the royal!" He hissed viciously, seemingly very pissed with this piece of information.
Ethan opened the letter and read that short information, but his expression didn’t change, he only mumbled something incoherently.
"What? This is urgent! You need to inform the alpha about this right away!"
Ethan lifted his head and patted his shoulder. "You don’t need to worry, Cane has taken precaution for this."
"What?" Eron blinked his eyes in surprised. "The alpha already knew about this."
"No, he has his own suspicion." Ethan knew that Cane had been suspicious with the involvement of Winter Moon pack. If anything, alpha Nolan would choose to side with the royal. After all, Ethan was sent alone to taste the water with alpha Nolan, which still annoyed him even now because Cane tricked him in such way. "You know the alpha has a great instinct." He winked at Eron.
"Really?" Eron was shocked, he knew the alpha always had his own plan and had a great head on his shoulders, but it was still surprised him every time he learned about the way he schemed his way to get what he wanted, or to get out of trouble.
"Go back now and makes sure the luna is fine. You don’t want something happened to her, especially at this moment." Ethan reminded him that Iris was pregnant and no one would be able to escape the alpha’s wrath if something happened to her.
Being reminded of that, Eron immediately scampered away, he was glad the alpha had taken precaution against alpha Nolan and actually was able to see it before there was a confirmation for it.
Once Cane returned, he talked to alpha Nolan first, they were discussing something for more than two hours with the merchant as well, who looked very bored in the entire conversation, only after that, Ethan could tell Cane about the letter from the north.
"Proceed with what we have discussed."
"Right away," Ethan replied.
For double crossing him, Cane had a surprised for alpha Nolan.
But, later that night, alpha Nolan came to his tent to have a conversation with him, where he revealed his true intention to create a rift between Cane and Iris. He did it very smoothly and subtle, but as an observant person, he knew what he wanted from their conversation.
"I am not going to take any mistresses, Nolan." Cane’s eyes turned very dark. The black rain started to pour down again and the ground was muddy, which made the moral of the warriors were very low, while the vicious howl of the wind could be heard from the distance. There was no sunlight whatsoever, the sky looked like it was going to be very dark permanently.
Right now, the two alphas were inside the tent, the atmosphere was a little bit awkward and tensed.
"Think about it again." Alpha Nolan didn’t look hurt by the rejection, he had expected this. "You can take over the throne. Why would you let a baby to be the future king and Koda to be his regent when you can sit on the throne by yourself? Winter Moon pack will help you."
Alpha Nolan was not only double crossing him, but he did the same to Red Claw pack. The word of loyalty seemingly held no meaning in his eyes at all.
"By mating to one of your daughters." Cane made the offer very clear.
"I will give you all my resources, if you mated with my daughter. You can choose, who you wanted."
Cane felt very sick in his stomach to think he was going to touch another woman aside from Iris. He was very comfortable with his sweet mate, until one would think he was normal, but in truth, the thought of touching another woman, or let anyone touched him made him sick.
Not to mention with the fact, any daughter that alpha Nolan offered to him, she would be the sister of his deceased mate.
"In that case, what are you going to do with Red Claw pack?" Cane’s expression was devoid from any emotions.
