It was a tricky situation when you have to face a double crosser like alpha Nolan. There were a lot of things that you could get from this situation, but if you made a wrong move, it would be you, who was being stabbed on the back.

"Leane will want to see you to raise in power and sit on the position that should be yours." Alpha Nolan kept edging Cane to think about all the possibilities that he could get if he became the king. Iris stared at the gloomy sky, it was so dark and the black rain poured down the ground again. The storm was here and the angry howls of the wind made Iris felt anxious. She hated this so much. It would be a day without the sunlight and people grew restless, this weather made everyone felt very depressed.

Iris didn’t feel easy even when she heard that. "Did Cane hand Lou over to them?" she asked sheepishly. Well, she didn’t mind for Lou to be dragged to the Capital city, as long as those warriors backed off and Cane could return unscathed. She was afraid if Cane really went to a battle and something bad happened to him, even though, she knew very well he would be fine in any battle, after all, if thing went south, Lu wouldn’t let Cane, as his vessel, to die.

"Why?"

Aliana smiled. "I don’t know luna. Reading what was in the alpha’s mind is almost as difficult as looking for a needle in haystack."

Iris sighed, she knew that feeling.

"Now, let’s sleep." Aliana tucked her in. "Don’t stay up so late, you have been very gloomy today, it’s not good for the baby."

Iris stared at her flat stomach and smiled timidly. She was pregnant. She was really pregnant. Because she had not yet showing, she felt like this was not real. Is there really a baby there? Iris touched her stomach again. It felt the same like yesterday...

"I saw this fruit in the market when I was in the Capital City... but, I forgot what the name of this fruit..." Iris muttered sleepily.

"What fruit?"

"Something red... but, I don’t remember the name. I really want it..."

And after saying that, Iris fell asleep, only when her head touched the pillow, she felt the exhaustion and finally let go of her anxiety.

Once she fell asleep, Aliana immediately wrote something and gave it to the hawk, to deliver the message to a certain alpha, who received it with a frown between his brows.

"Golden Seed fruit," Cane muttered to himself after he read the message. That was the fruit that Iris wanted.

There was a furrow between his brows when he was thinking of something, the look on his face was very serious, as if he was trying to concoct a great scheme. He thought about it for a little while more and asked Dean to call Lou to his tent in the middle of the night.

When he was told that he was summoned to Cane’s tent, Lou almost lost it. He was sleeping in this poor quality tent because he was not allowed to go back to the pack house, even though it was only two hours away and he had nothing to do to be here.

But now, he was being summoned by the alpha when he finally could fall asleep?! This alpha really tested his patience!

"What did he want?!" Lou growled in frustration when Dean woke him up. This warrior didn’t even have manner, as he walked into his tent without permission.

"The alpha didn’t say anything about it, he only asked for your presence."

"Wait until morning, don’t you know I am sleeping."

"You are awake now," Dean pointed out the obvious. "Because you are already awake, why don’t you come to see why the alpha needs to see you."

"Why should I care about that?!" Lou became very grumpy. More so, he was awake because of him, okay!

In the end, after back and forth with Dean, Lou begrudgingly decided to see Cane, because he wouldn’t be able to sleep again at this point when he was extremely upset. The warrior didn’t want to back down and stay inside his tent, until he was willing to wake up.

Lou contemplated to use his magic on Dean, or maybe it would be easier to kill him, but then his rationality won that impulsive thought.

"What do you want?!" Lou stomped his feet, he was still wearing his red cloak and looked impeccable like usual, though his face was very tired.

Cane waved his hand and Dean left them alone.

The merchant crossed his arms and threw a dagger look at Cane. "It will be great if you have a good explanation to bother my sleeping time. I can be in a bad mood for a whole day and night if I don’t have enough sleep."

"You were the one, who made the portal to create chaos in the palace on new year, by letting loose the monster in the palace."

That was not even a question, but a statement, which Lou couldn’t retort. Cane had already known about his secret, there was no point of denying it.

"Hm. Can you see now how great of magic user I am? So, next time show some respect," Lou said haughtily, yet like usual, Cane couldn’t care less about that detail.

"Great." Cane nodded. "Can you open the portal to any place you want? Or is there any limit of distance?"

"Of course, I can!" Lou looked so proud of himself. "I can reach any places in this continent, as long as the place doesn’t cross the ocean." Well, he was exaggerated in this part, there was indeed a limit of distance that he could scoop.

"Good."

Lou felt something was off, he narrowed his eyes and crept closer toward Cane.

"I want you to create a portal."

Lou scoffed. "Hey, I am not your servant, okay? You can’t order me around like this!"

"Right. I should have accepted the offer and let them take you away, so they could get away from my territory."

Now, Lou really wanted to kill Cane.

"Where do you want to go?" Lou felt suspicious. Where this alpha wanted to go in the middle of the night?

"To the capital city," Cane said calmly, which made Lou’s face turned ashen.
