Chapter 634: THE STORM IS HERE (5)
Iris went back to her bedroom and now it was a waiting game, something that she couldn’t do well. She tried everything to calm herself down, but she simply couldn’t. All the negative thoughts swirled in her mind like a whirlpool that swallowed her gradually.
"Luna, why don’t we go to see Haco and Celia?" Aliana suggested. She wanted to cheer her up, one could see it clearly how anxious Iris was and it was not good for the baby in her stomach. She looked like she would have a mental breakdown at any moment.
"Okay," Iris said weakly, she was well aware that she needed to be more relax, but how could she do that when the enemy attacked them and there was this mysterious black rain that poured down this land at the same time.
It didn’t take a genius to tell that it was not a coincidence at all, but what? What the meaning of all this? Iris stared at the black rain through her window and became even more agitated.
Cane had told her that he had asked Haco about it, but apparently the sorcerer was not in his right mind, while Lou didn’t have any idea about the black rain either.
Probably this time, she could make Haco remembered something and if she was lucky enough, the sorcerer might be in a better condition right now.
Therefore, she agreed with Aliana to go to see Haco and Celia. From what she heard, Joel also went to the battlefield, so did Ethan, which the thought didn’t help with her anxiety. She wanted to keep those people that precious to her safe, but she didn’t know how. She really hated Alan and those people, who tried to harm them.
However, before they could go out of the bedroom, when they walked past the fireplace, the fire flared up for a second and the lizard came out from there with a piece of parchment tied around its body. The creature looked annoyed, as it shook its body.
Cane must have found out how to use the lizard more efficient and a way to inform all of his spy about this new way to communicate with each other more secretively.
Iris immediately approached the lizard and untied the parchment from its body, while Aliana watched her.
"That’s a report from the north." She could tell because every report from different spy would have different way of how to fold the parchment. She immediately scouted down next to Iris.
Iris didn’t wait for long before she opened the report, she didn’t feel the need to ask permission, since Cane was not there.
Aliana leaned closer to read it together with Iris and she gasped in shocked. "No way. This is bad..." She couldn’t believe with what she was reading, but Iris had gotten up and then rushed out of the bedroom.
"Eron!" Iris called for the warrior, who immediately approached her, startled because of the urgency in her voice.
"Yes, luna?" Eron blinked his eyes in confusion, looking around, just in case they missed something and there was danger around them, because that was the first impression, he got with the way the luna called his name.
"Give this to Cane, go now!" Iris was very anxious. Cane and the other must have not yet gone too far, Eron would be able to reach him before they made a contact with the royal warriors.
Iris felt like she wanted to go to deliver the report by herself, but she knew better not to. Even enraged would be an understatement if Cane saw Iris stepped out of the gates and more so, no matter how depressed she was with the situation, her main focus was her baby. She didn’t want anything happened to her with the extent of their baby.
She didn’t know how to face the world if she lost the baby.
She knew better not to be reckless now and let her impulsive thought put herself at risk.
"This..." Eron took the parchment from Iris’s hand.
"Report from the north! Now go before they are engaged in a battle!" Iris felt like she wanted to push Eron very hard, so he could move faster.
"Right away, luna!" Eron immediately shifted into his beast and dashed away. He prayed that he would be able to make it in time.
"What the report is about?" Dyne asked, his curiosity got the better of him.
"Alpha Nolan is not on our side," Aliana replied grimly and this caused a heavy tension. "He played both sides."
Iris then walked away hurriedly toward the warrior’s quarter to meet with Haco, but Aliana stopped her, she needed to prepare a transportation for her, because she didn’t want her to get drenched in this weird black rain and Iris had to wait again, something that made her slowly hated it.
Her head and heart were going to explode with worry in this rate...
Everything was very wrong in her eyes and a little thing agitated her greatly.
=========================
There were three big tents that had been set up an hour away from the big gates and from the latest report they got, the royal warriors still marched closer toward them after they destroyed five villages on their way here.
"I don’t know what this damn black rain is!" Lou grew frustrated with Cane. He hated it when he saw how dirty he was right now and his favorite red cloak had turned into black color. He would be even more furious if he saw his reflection on the mirror, thankfully, they didn’t have any here.
For someone, who used to look impeccable, this kind of look was a nightmare.
Currently, the two of them were inside one of the tents and Cane had been interrogating this merchant about the task he gave to him. At this point, Cane really treated Lou as if he was one of his warriors and the merchant couldn’t get away from it, since their concern and priority was tangled together.
"If you want to ask about this, why don’t you ask to the other magic user? There is someone, who will know about this better than anyone else!" Lou grumbled, he tried to squeeze out this dirty black water out of his precious cloak.
"Who?"
Lou lifted up his head and then grinned, all of sudden his eyes lit up with enthusiasm, which made Cane frowned, he didn’t like the look on his face.
"The Serafim, who else?!" Lou declared arrogantly. "You are the one, who had the idea to involve the Holy Kingdom in the mess you created, but you forgot about her already?"
That was right, it was Cane, who had involved the Holy Kingdom, but his original plan couldn’t be executed anymore, thanked to the unpredictable attack from lady Cyan.
But, it didn’t mean Cane forgot completely about the Serafim, it was just it didn’t cross his mind with a lot of things that was going on. It seemed, with so many things happened at once, he had missed what was clearly in front of him.
On the other hand, when Lou realized the idea didn’t even cross the alpha’s mind, Lou was extremely happy, he gloated. "Heaven! You didn’t even think about that, did you?! How can you not think about the Serafim? That’s the first thing that came to my mind! That’s very simple and easy to know, who you should ask, but you didn’t even think about that?!"
Lou felt so much better when he said that, because he had been holding a grudge ever since Cane proposed the idea with the merchant. That should be his expertise and he should have done the deal with them without Cane’s help, but apparently, those four merchants had bigger heads than he predicted.
Therefore, he had been very sulky when he closed the deal with them with the help of Cane, with the alpha’s idea.
And now, it was a payback for that.
"I can’t believe it, you didn’t even think about that!" Lou kept gloating.
However, it gradually annoyed him because Cane didn’t seem to pay attention to that. He didn’t seem to care and now he looked like he was very boring, waiting for him to stop talking.
"If you are done, write a letter to the Serafim," Cane said languidly.
"Why should I be the one, who wrote a letter to her?" Lou protested. "It will be more make sense if you are the one, who asked."
"Tell her that you are the one, who suggested Alan to write a letter to Holy Kingdom months ago."
"Why should I do that?"
"Don’t you want to expand your business to the Andel continent? Having a Serafim as an acquaintance will give you more benefit. You can use this opportunity to get to her."
The alpha hit the nail.
Lou hissed. He hated to be told, but what Cane suggested sounded like an opportunity indeed, yet the merchant was still reluctance to do it right away, only because he didn’t want to feel inferior to him.
"I am busy now, ask someone else to do it on my behalf." He still acted haughtily.
Cane gave him a disdain glance. "I thought you are a sorcerer, I saw a sorcerer used their magic to dry themselves in a second. Can’t you do that?"
Shit. He was right.
Lou cursed himself. Because he had been pretending for a long time that he was not a magic user, he forgot about that simple fact.
"I can’t do that!" Lou growled.
Cane nodded. "Figure. You said yourself that you are weak."
