Chapter 632: THE STORM IS HERE (3)

Cane had tried to talk with Haco about the black rain, but unfortunately the sorcerer was not in the right headspace, thus he couldn’t get anything out of him.

However, aside from Haco there was another sorcerer that he knew was there as well.

"Alpha, alpha Nolan wanted to see you," Dean informed him when they left the bedroom, where Haco, Zale and Joel stayed. "Are we going to see him?"

Cane didn’t answer that, he walked to the other side of the pack house, where Lou was staying. He knew he was a sorcerer because Iris had told him that, but because he didn’t see any benefit of him confronting Lou about it, he didn’t bother at all.

Dean and Pax followed behind Cane, as they avoided the black rain. The ground looked very dark, as the black water seeped into the ground, as if it mirrored the scary black sky.

"Is he inside?" Cane asked one of the guards near Lou’s bedroom.

"Yes, alpha."

Cane strode toward Lou’s bedroom and Dean knocked on the door. There was rustling sound from inside and on the second knock, someone opened the door.

Nala was stunned when she saw Cane was there. She didn’t believe her eyes to see the alpha. "Al- alpha Cane..." she called his name sheepishly, as she tried to comb her hair with her fingers, so she would look a little bit presentable.

"Is Sir Lou inside?" Pax was the one, who asked.

"Y- yes," Nala replied. She blatantly stared at Cane, though the alpha didn’t even spare a glance for her.

In the beginning, she tried to approach Cane because of the mission the king gave to her, but the more she tried, the more this alpha disdained her existence, but because of that also, the more she wanted to know him.

Especially when she learned the baby was not his. There was a high chance alpha Cane had never touched that woman at all. It was so rare for someone like him to be loyal with only one woman.

Nala thought, her crushed on him had died down, but she still found herself was mesmerized by his strong presence. This was the man she really wanted in her life. Someone that could cherish their mate and only their mate alone. Someone, who knew how to be loyal.

Seeing him up close like this, brought back all the feelings she had for him upfront.

"Move."

Cane’s voice startled Nala out of her own imagination, as the alpha strode inside the bedroom and Lou freaked out to see him, since he was half naked on the bed right now.

It was so absurd for this merchant to be able to have an intimate moment with a woman when something extremely unusual happened out there.

"What the hell?!" Lou growled, he covered himself with blanket, but then realized how silly it was. He did that out of instinct, because he didn’t expect the alpha would barge in. "What are you doing here?!" Lou was annoyed.

"Get out," Cane said and Dean immediately escorted Nala out of the room, despite her protest and Pax closed the door behind him.

"Should I get out too? Do you want to use this room?" Slowly, Lou got off the bed and picked his clothes that scattered on the floor. "Seriously, if you want to use this room for your bunch of warriors, you can just talk to me nicely, I will find another inn for me to live."

From the look of it, the merchant didn’t seem aware of what was going on, as he kept rambling about unimportant thing.

Didn’t want to waste his time to make him stop talking, since he loved the sound of his own voice, Cane walked toward the window and drew the curtain and then opened it, letting the black rain spilled into the room and the sound of the howling wind became even more vivid.

"Damn! What the hell is that?!" Lou jumped back, afraid to touch that water like ink that stained the floor. "What is going on?!" Lou widened his eyes. He thought, it was only a normal storm and he was having his fun time with Nala, because the woman apparently afraid of storm, so he tried to distract her to stop whimpering in fear.

"Do you know anything about this?" Cane asked straight to the point.

"How do I know about this?!" Lou furrowed his brows, he felt this ominous feeling when he saw the black water.

"Come here and check on it," Cane ordered, which made Lou’s face became unsightly.

"I am a merchant, what do I know about it? You need to ask someone else." Lou then added. "Ask your sorcerer or other magic user," he grumbled.

"Haco is not well, that’s why I ask you."

"Do you think I am..." Lou didn’t finish his sentence because he knew Cane was already knew about his other identity. He only convinced himself that the alpha didn’t, because he had not yet confronted him. "Geez. You have her wrapped around your fingers, apparently. Couldn’t she hide something from you?"

The answer was obviously no. Iris was hardly hiding anything from him.

"Check on this," Cane said, he stepped aside to let Lou observed the black water closely.

Didn’t have any other choice, Lou walked over and inspected the black water, despite his reluctance to even be near this strange object. He narrowed his eyes and mumbled some spell in foreign language.

The merchant stretched out his hand with his palm was facing down and the black water moved, as if the water was being sucked up and it swirled in the air, between the floor and Lou’s palm.

Meanwhile, Cane watched the merchant showed his side as a sorcerer, but there was no change on his expression whatsoever, but he did curious about Lou’s background. He was from Karam continent, where that continent was not as welcome as the other continents to magic user, due to dark story in the past.

Yet, Lou was a man to be reckoned as a merchant, still no one knew about his other identity and then how could he get his power? Magic user got their power through bloodline, which meant, Lou had a magic user in his family.

"I had never seen anything like this," Lou mumbled. He creased his brows deeply. "It carries magic..."

"Dark magic?"

"I am not sure."

Cane thought about it, if this black rain carried black magic, Iris should have felt it, right? But then, he still needed to ask her for certainty.

"Where are you going now?!" Lou immediately turned around when Cane was about to walk out of the bedroom.

"Figure out what is that with the black rain and report back to me."

"What?! I am not your warrior! I am not your pack member! Why should I report back to you?! Hey!" Lou was frustrated when Cane didn’t even listen to him and simply walked away. "Hey! Don’t tell anyone about this! Did you listen to me?! Hey!"

Cane was already on his way back to his bedroom to look for Iris when Pax told him alpha Nolan was agitated, he wanted to see him in person.

"Send Ethan to talk to him. I will meet with him later."

Cane hastened his step to go back to his bedroom only to find Iris was sleeping next to Lil Thing. What this creature was doing on his bed and with his mate?

The alpha was not happy, but after he listened to Aliana’s explanation that Iris was having a hard time to fall asleep. He didn’t make a fuss about it.

He hated to do this, but he needed to wake her up, since he had some question for her.

Unfortunately, before he could do that, Dean’s voice traveled into the room, as he rapped his knuckles against the door.

"Alpha, we are under attack! The royal warriors marched toward the pack! They are three hours away from us!" Dean was very anxious to get to the alpha, but he didn’t dare to enter the room without permission like Aliana did before. "The royal warriors started to kill all the people on their way here, including the villagers!"

There were around five villages that close to the border, between the border to the pack house, which meant, they needed to move fast if they wanted to save those innocent villagers from being annihilated.

What Dean said set them on high alert and the commotion woke Iris up.

"What happened?" she asked sleepily, as she rubbed her eyes. Lil Thing’s fur was very soft and it kept her warm, which helped her to fall asleep.

"Aliana, told them to gather in the training ground, I will meet with them all shortly after and ask Lou and alpha Nolan to meet me there too."

Aliana nodded and immediately rushed out of the bedroom to relay the alpha’s order, while Cane stayed behind for a while. He didn’t have many time with the predicament that they would face within a few hours.

"Iris, I want to ask you about something." Cane felt bad to disrupt her, but there was no other way.

"Yes? What is it?" Iris missed the fact that they were under attack, but her sleepiness had gone completely now, as she waited for Cane to speak.

"Can you feel something with the black rain?" Cane asked immediately. "Can you feel dark magic?"

Iris was contemplated for a while, aside from Haco, she didn’t feel any black magic near them all. "No."
