After such draining meeting with the merchants, the only thing that Cane wanted was to go back to his mate and slept peacefully next to her. He wanted to bury his face in her hair and breathed in her scent.

His heart was in the right place the moment he opened the door and found her sleeping peacefully, while Aliana sat on the chair, guarding her.

"Alpha," Aliana greeted him, she immediately stood up and stretched her body. With Cane was here, her night duty would end and she could go back to her room and sleep.

"Did she eat her dinner?" Cane asked, as he approached Iris and stared at her sleeping face. If there was one word that could describe her right now, it must be serenity.

"Yes, but not much, she was very sleepy and tired." Aliana gave Cane a meaningful look with a smirk on the corner of her lips, but he didn’t dare to bring up about the book. She might be cheeky with Iris and her brother was Cane’s beta, but she held the utmost respect for this alpha.

"Hm." Cane nodded. "You can leave."

Aliana didn’t need to be told twice, she immediately rushed out of the room once Cane leaned over and kissed his mate’s lips gently. It was almost very scary to see how gentle the alpha was, because she thought, she would never see this side of him again, especially when there was nothing change with the way Cane acted whenever Iris was not around, he was still that cold and collected person, which could make you trembled with only a glare from him.

Once it was only the two of them, Cane undressed and cleaned himself before he came to bed and sleep peacefully next to Iris.

Yet, his sleep was not as peaceful as he thought it would be, because a few hours later, he was woken up with Iris kissing his lips.

His mate was half awake when he found her nibbling on his lips. She didn’t seem to realize what she was doing, but when slightly pushed her away, she let out protest noises.

"Iris?" Cane caressed her back and smoothened her tangled hair, while he let her did whatever she wanted with him. It didn’t take a genius to figure out what she aimed and what she really wanted from him, because it was as clear as day, just like how clear those merchants wanted to fool around with him, that his mate wanted to be intimated with him.

They had done it this afternoon and Iris clearly still not yet recovered fully from it, but here she was, wanted another round of it, as she tried her sloppy attempt to get under his pants.

"Are you in heat?" Cane asked softly against her lips, but she didn’t answer that, she bit his lips when he didn’t reciprocate her kiss.

Heat for shifter would come in random time, sometime, it only happened once, therefore, it was hard to predict when your mate would go through a heat, it even more unpredictable when your mate was not a shifter.

Cane indeed needed his sleep, but he wouldn’t turn down this pleasant surprise, though he was still unsure how to proceed it when Iris didn’t seem to be fully conscious.

"Iris," Cane called her name again to get her attention, but she had slid down her hand under his pants and touched him there, driving him crazy with her bold action.

That was it. There was no way Cane could sleep peacefully when she freely touched him like this and now, she broke the kiss, but she climbed on top of him and straddled him. Her blue eyes looked so misty under the light of the pale moon in the night sky and her auburn hair looked slightly darker.

She was a devastatingly beautiful with innocent face, but her action right now screamed the opposite when she started to kiss his neck and trailed wet kissed along his jawline, like he used to do it to her. Apparently, she paid close attention to what he did to her body and now she tried to apply it to him, leaving the alpha speechless.

"No..." Iris whimpered, protested when Cane was about to flip her body and fuck her to oblivion for waking him up like this, yet she didn’t want to. She didn’t want to be pinned down, because right now, this was her favorite position. She wanted to be on top of him and got the control of it, as she set the pace...

"Good afternoon!" Aliana greeted Iris when she opened her eyes and met with her mischievous gaze. For some reason, she looked annoyed, but also helpless. "I thought you are going to sleep through day and night and here I am thinking what should I do to spend time in this room."

"Good morning..." Iris greeted Aliana with hoarse voice. She felt very tired and hungry, her body was so sore and warm, she couldn’t understand why she had not yet recovered even after sleeping the whole night.

Maybe Grace really had run out of magic stone and the concoction was a normal one.

"Good afternoon," Aliana emphasized it. "This is already afternoon, you skipped breakfast."

Iris rubbed her eyes and groaned when the light from the sun hit her sight, she curled her body again on the bed. "I am hungry..." she whimpered.

"Of course, after such vigorous afternoon and late night sex and then skipped your breakfast, I bet you must be famished." Aliana clicked her tongue and pulled the blanket away from her. "Come on, let’s get something to eat from the kitchen, you need to exercise your body more, if you want to have enough stamina to do it the whole day and night."

Iris didn’t understand what she was talking about, but she begrudgingly got off the bed and went to the bathroom to clean herself.

"You almost got the alpha into trouble because he overslept, you know." Aliana helped Iris to undress herself, only then she saw a lot of red marks on her breasts and stomach.

"What is this?!" Iris was panic to see them.

"What do you mean ’what is this’?" Aliana chuckled when she watched Iris’s reaction. "You don’t have a great healing ability, luna, so try to tell the alpha not to get carry on if you don’t want to be left with this."

Aliana waved her hands on her body.

Iris blushed vigorously, even her flat stomach turned red in. "But, these red marks were not here yesterday."

"Then it must be happening during night." Aliana chuckled.

"Night?" Iris frowned. She didn’t recall what happened last night.

"Luna, I can smell the sex the moment I entered the room this morning and what else the reason of why the alpha overslept when he had an important appointment with the former beta and gamma of this pack?"

Yet, Iris was adamant to deny it. "We didn’t do anything last ni..." she stopped in the middle of her sentence because a few flashbacks came to her mind and in an instant, her blue eyes filled with dread. "Heaven!" she exclaimed.
