Iris softly mewled in Cane’s arms, her body felt very sore, but delightful, she could feel all the traces that her mate left on her body, imprinted on her skin and engraved in her heart, as she was contented and pleased.

Her eyelids were so heavy and she flinched when Cane pulled out of her, as something warm trickled down her thighs.

"Don’t go..." Iris whimpered when Cane moved away from her, but she didn’t open her eyes, she reached out her arms and hugged his neck again, while the alpha softly chuckled against her neck. "Don’t go..."

"We need to clean you up, okay?" Cane whispered to her ear and nibbled on her earlobe, which made her squirmed and shook her head. "I will prepare the bath."

"No." Iris frowned like a stubborn child, she opened her eyes lazily and pouted her lips. "I will come with you."

"You need to get up if you want to come with me." Cane kissed her nose, eyes and forehead. He couldn’t get enough of her. He realized that he had been neglectful of her, since the merchant arrived and he had a hard time to come into an agreement with them and get what he wanted, while at the same time, he had to deal with alpha Nolan too.

The alpha would have found a way to meet with Iris again if he didn’t put more guards around his mate and gave a strict order to the warriors not to let him come closer to her again.

"Okay." She agreed, but didn’t make any attempts to move, instead she closed her eyes, was about to fall asleep. Right now, she was very clingy.

"Iris?"

"Hm?"

"You smell so good." Cane buried his face against the crook of her neck. She smelled so sweet and addictive, as if she was a drug and he was addicted to it.

Iris moaned when she felt Cane’s tongue licked her collarbones, she was full of anticipation if they were going into it again, though her body couldn’t keep up with the desire, but if she could, she wanted this more.

She felt delightfully satisfied when there was nothing between them, when his skin met hers and she could feel the rhythm of his heartbeat, as her own matched it. This was the most vulnerable moment, where they showed their raw feelings and tried to understand each other in different way.

"We need to take a bath," Cane growled, because he remembered he had a meeting with the merchant to talk about grains.

"Are you going to meet the merchant?" Iris asked lazily, didn’t want to wake up at all.

"Hm."

In the end, Cane carried her to the bathroom and let her sat down, while he prepared for the bath. His mate looked so tired and sleepy, she even almost fell asleep and stumbled.

"I am sleepy," Iris yawned when Cane put her into the tub with warm water before he sat down behind her.

"I can see that." Cane pulled Iris closed to him and let her leaned against his chest, as he washed her body with soap. Her perk nipples were so red and sensitive when he touched them. "Sleep, I will take care of you."

Iris yawned, she snuggled against him to find a comfortable position, but somehow, she turned her body and kissed him instead. She was sleepy and clumsy, the kiss merely her nibbled on his lips, which made Cane chuckled.

"Be good and don’t move around." Cane steadied her body again and cleaned her up, but when Iris was about to touch him, he caught her hand and pushed it away, but he rewarded her with a kiss when she opened her eyes and felt hurt to be rejected. "You are too tired, Iris, you can’t take it."

Iris pouted her lips and wrapped her arms around his waist instead and kissed his chest.

"Be good." Cane patted her head.

Iris knew Cane was right that she wouldn’t be able to take it if they were going to do it again, but somehow, she wanted it more. She blamed her desire on the book that she read. She shouldn’t have read that book too often, because she started to imagine a lot of dirty things with her mate, which she would never admit it.

The thoughts were too embarrassing, dirty and lewd, which surprised her, because she didn’t think she would have such kind of wild imagination.

"What happened?" Cane asked when Iris’s body became tensed.

"Cramp..." Iris whimpered against his chest and Cane caressed her back to soothe it.

Even without doing anything they spent almost an hour to take a bath and once they were done, the water had turned cold and the sky had become dark.

Cane tucked Iris in, at the same time, he heard his gamma’s voice, reminding him that they needed to go to meet with the merchant.

"I will ask Aliana to bring your dinner, okay?" Cane leaned over to kiss her nose, but Iris pointed her lips too, wanted to be kissed there, which Cane happily obliged, yet she pointed her forehead, her chubby cheeks and her chin. "I will kiss every inch of your body all over again when I return okay?" Cane chuckled to discover this side of his mate. This woman was always surprised him with her endearing quirk.

Cane had kissed her during their passionate moment and he didn’t mind to do it all over again if it could make her happy, but he needed to go now.

"Okay," Iris said sheepishly, it was her bold attempt to make Cane stay with her a little bit longer, because she still missed him even after a handful of climax, he gave her.

"Sleep, Iris." Cane kissed both of her eyes and then her nose again, as he ruffled her hair and then walked away from the room that filled with the smell of sex.

Aliana almost had a hard attack when she stepped in with dinner later, she opened all the window and let refreshing night wind to wash away this suffocating scent.

"Are they going to kill me?" Aliana grumbled, as she picked all of their clothes on the floor and found the book, her eyes widened in disbelieve to see such thing. "What? Who bought this?"

She couldn’t imagine the alpha bought such book and showed it to his mate, but then she couldn’t even imagine the sweet and innocent luna to be the one, who bought it. She was too timid for something so bold, especially when Aliana saw the content.

"Damn... who bought this book?" She was dying with curiosity, more so when Iris barely woke up when she ate her dinner, which made her unable to tease her and figure out about that mysterious book.

On the other hand, Cane the meeting didn’t go well, the merchant gave unreasonable prices for the grain, knowing their predicament and the shifted of power in this pack and the whole pack in the southern kingdom. They really took advantage of him.

Even after late at night, the merchants were still persistence with their price.

"Are they crazy?!" Ethan was exasperated, his face was so red because of how angry he was. "They took advantage of our situation!"

It was not that they couldn’t afford to buy it, but the price simply ridiculous. It almost like they were being robbed under the broad daylight and they had to be grateful for that.

Now the merchants gave Cane ten days to give them the answer, whether he wanted to buy the grain from them or they would sell it to the royal, once they did that, the pack in the south wouldn’t have enough grain for the upcoming winter, not to mention there was some pack that went through famine at this moment, so they needed it more even before the winter came.

"Cane, what are you going to do?" Ethan walked beside Cane, after their unsatisfying meeting, they crossed the garden to reach the pack house, since the merchant stayed in the town. Dealing with the merchant was another level of headache.

"Is there news from Lou?" Cane asked about Lou instead.

"Oh, I forgot. He sent a letter that arrived this evening." Ethan pulled out the letter that the merchant had sent them. "He asked you to think of the solution, since you will come with him to the capital city. He said; it will be a trap, but you can’t ignore the summon from the king, unless you want to openly oppose him."

Cane was silent for a moment. "Tell him to come to catch up with Redmond and his entourage. I will meet with him here."

Redmond and a few warriors had left the Riverside pack and marched to Diandem pack a day earlier, but with their speed, especially because there was Sofia and the baby, Lou would be able to catch up with them within a day or two.

Ethan narrowed his eyes. He felt there was something fishy about it and couldn’t help, but blurted it out. "You want to use Lou to deal with the merchant?"

Cane didn’t give an answer for that question, but knowing the alpha, Ethan knew he was right. "Brilliant!" Ethan almost jumped in joy and hugged Cane because with Lou dealt with his fellow merchant, he didn’t need to get unnecessary headache to face them. "I am really proud to have you as my alpha! I really do love you, Cane! I am willing to die for you!"

Ethan was about to hug him, but stopped because Cane gave him a stern glare.
