The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 612: TREASURE
Chapter 612: TREASURE
Now Aliana mentioned it, Iris did remember what happened last night and if it was possible, her face turned even redder. She almost looked like the little lizard when she found it the first time, when its skin was still bright red.
"Heaven!" Iris covered her mouth when details of what happened last night came flooding to her mind. She didn’t even know she could do such thing.
On the other hand, Aliana chuckled. "Did the book help?" she asked lightly, trying to get a little bit juicy information about that mysterious book and when she watched how shocked Iris was, she knew it must be her, who had purchased the book in the first place and she couldn’t control her laugh. "I can’t believe it was you, luna!"
"Oh, shut up!" Iris almost cried, as she tried to make Aliana stopped laughing at her, yet her attempt was too weak and Aliana seemed to have so much fun to discover this.
Out of all people, why it must be her who found it?!
But then, Iris simply couldn’t imagine if it was someone else, she would really dig a hole and bury herself to even imagine if it was Ethan or one of her seven warriors.
It took a long time for Aliana to get over it and she only stopped when Iris literally cried, seeing how serious it affected her and made her uncomfortable.
"I am sorry, I am sorry, I will not bring it up again," Aliana apologized genuinely. She didn’t mean to take things too far and simply only wanted to tease her. She wiped her tears and helped her to take a bath, while talking about something else entirely.
She told her about Zale, Celia and Joel, because Iris used to pay close attention to the three of them, especially Zale’s progress in training. Aliana also filled her in with a few information about what was going on around them.
The merchant had been here for days, but the alpha was still trying to make a reasonable deal with them, regarding the grain because those filthy merchants went crazy with the price they proposed.
Alpha Nolan had been around and was not happy because Cane didn’t want to leave to Red Claw pack immediately, neither he would let Iris go there without him.
"I don’t know what the alpha did, but he managed to make him stay away from you," Aliana mumbled.
Iris didn’t mind it at all if Cane put alpha Nolan away from her, because she didn’t like the alpha too, he made her uncomfortable, even if they only met for once.
"How do you know all of that?" Iris asked, she tilted her head to look at Aliana, who was washing her hair.
Aliana winked at her. "Well, you can say Ethan is hardly able to keep secret from me."
Iris narrowed her eyes. "Maybe because you threatened him."
"Luna, I am not that bad," Aliana chuckled when she heard the accusation.
After that, Aliana took Iris to the kitchen to get her late lunch, as she munched on her meat happily and almost finished all the food on her plate, when she used to not be able to eat that much.
"You are really famished!" Aliana pointed it out and immediately closed her mouth when Iris glared at her, thinking she was going to tease her again.
After that, Iris spent her time with Celia, teaching her how to write and read like usual. She was having a hard time and her progress was not as fast as the other people Iris had taught, which made the little girl frustrated.
Meanwhile, Zale was training with Zephyr and Lil Thing was playing dead with the little children of alpha Adrian.
Cane put all the mistresses of the alpha and their children in the west part of the pack house and they had been staying there ever since, didn’t middle with anything inside the pack house, knowing alpha Adrian’s regime had fallen.
It was very lucky for them to be able to stay alive and not be made slaves, thus they didn’t want to get into alpha Cane’s bad side.
Iris also learned something from Haco when his mind conscious enough to teach her how to manipulate her newly found power, but it didn’t last for long, because the sorcerer went into his senile state pretty fast. His wrinkled face looked tired and his misty eyes stared into the distance, as he kept asking her; ’who are you?’ and Iris had to introduce herself a few times.
Her heart ached to see the old sorcerer like this. She hoped, there was something she could do for him. Haco was actively dying at this point, his mind shut down on him and it was a rare occurrence to see him in a clear state of mind.
When night came, Iris spent it inside her bedroom and had her dinner there with Aliana, since she would meet with alpha Nolan in the dining hall, thus she had never gone there once the alpha was here.
More so, Iris was too tired and sleepy, she was still feeling so sore because of last night and she was exhausted after teaching Celia and talking to Haco, every time she went to see the sorcerer, she became emotional to see how he regressed so fast.
She had been crying silently to see him like that and there was nothing Aliana could do to console her.
Cane didn’t come to have dinner with her, but there were three chests that he sent for her, which needed twelve warriors to carry it.
"What is it?" Iris frowned when she saw the chests were being dropped inside the bedroom.
Dean came to her and smiled. "This is from the alpha, luna. He said everything inside is for you!" He looked excited, even though it was not gifts for him.
"For me? All of this?" Iris was surprised, she widened her eyes. What could be possibly inside the chests, which each one of them was the same size like her? "What is inside?"
"I don’t know!" Dean beamed.
"You need to open it to know. Why don’t you open it now, luna?" One of the warriors also looked excited to know what was inside.
Ever since the news about Sofia’s baby was not Cane’s, the warriors warmed up to Iris a little bit, though they didn’t become close all of sudden, but at the very least, Iris could feel they were less hostile and indifference toward her.
"Open it, luna!" Aliana nudged Iris to open the chests impatiently.
Iris approached one of the chests that adorned with pretty ornament and intricated carving. The chests alone looked very expensive, let alone the things inside it.
She was excited to know what Cane gave to her, because it could count as the first gift from him.
But the problem was...
"I can’t lift it, it is too heavy..." Iris groaned when she tried to lift the lid of the chest and the warriors immediately realized their error. There was no way their petite luna would be able to lift it when it took two of them to do it.
Meanwhile, Iris’s seven warriors poked their head from the door, wanting to know what was inside the chests too.
Once the first gift from Cane was revealed, all of them were shocked, they gasped out loud to see what was inside.
There were a lot of things there and Iris couldn’t even comprehend how she would be able to wear all of them.
There were countless necklaces, bracelets, rings, which were put into smaller boxes inside the chests, pendant, tiara and then a lot more gold and diamond.
"Open another chest!" Dyne shouted from outside, he wanted to see what the other gifts were and it seemed, these warriors held the same excitement like Iris, if it was not more.
With Iris’s permission, they opened the other two chests, which filled with a lot of beautiful dresses, while the other chest was filled with variation of shoes and more trinkets, which made of precious stone.
"The alpha has gone crazy..." Aliana whispered breathlessly. She knew Cane was a loyal person, but didn’t he know the concept of giving a gift? No, he was not giving Iris a gift, he gave her a treasure!
"These all for me?" Iris was shocked beyond words. She had never received a gift before, but this was too much!
When Cane took her to the festival and buy her a book, she was already very happy and contented, but she was not sure how to react with such gift from him.
"Luna... the alpha is pampering you so much!" Aliana pointed it out, her voice was a little bit loud, so the twelve warriors could hear that. She watched how their expression twisted because some of them still couldn’t see Iris as their luna and was unable to accept that their alpha had genuine feeling for her.
Later, Iris learned that Cane bought all of these from the merchant. He had said that money was not the problem here, since he had the fortune of the six packs, but the fact that those merchants fooled him and gave him the ridiculous price for the grain that he disliked.
Therefore, buying these precious items for his mate was not a problem and it wouldn’t hurt them financially.
’I want to make it up to you.’
That was Cane’s answer when he was asked why he splurged with his gift.
A week after that, Redmond and Sofia arrived in the Diandem pack, so did Lou.
