The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 605: LEANE’S FATHER

Chapter 605: LEANE’S FATHER

Her origin was a question now ever since they discovered the complicated fate between the lycan and how he recognized the first Serafim’s life essence inside of Iris, which they strongly believed that was the reason why Lu chose Cane to be his new vessel after Haco.

Her father was alpha Gerald and everyone knew about his bloodline, since he was the alpha by birth, but then there were not many people had knowledge about her mother and as long as they know alpha Gerald took fancy of her, impregnated her and then she died because of illness when Iris was one year old.

People didn’t pay enough attention to her mother or her origin because even though she was a luna, she was not alpha Gerald’s destined mate, neither her personality made her stood out among the other women alpha Gerald had at that time.

Just like Iris, her mother was so timid and didn’t speak if it was not necessary.

Therefore, there was not many people knew about where she came from and why Iris had her auburn hair and blue eyes. What Iris learned about it was because she got it from her maternal grandmother, yet, no one had ever seen any shifter with the same color of hair and eyes like her. It was very particular.

"I wonder about the same thing," Iris replied casually. "My mother died when I was so young and I don’t even remember her face. People said she was beautiful and kind."

Alpha Nolan nodded. "I have never met your mother, but seeing you, I am sure you took after your mother, because Gerald was not a kind person when he was alive." He glanced at the seven warriors behind them. "They can vouch for that."

Iris could feel it when this alpha subtly nudged the sensitive topic between her and the people in the Howling Wolf pack.

This was not the first time and obviously enough, it wouldn’t be the last.

"I am glad Cane killed him. He deserved that," Iris responded nonchalantly, which took alpha Nolan by surprised.

Even though she didn’t like her own father, but for someone so timid like her to admit that openly, it still looked out of character of her, but then upon closer look, alpha Nolan could see he had underestimated this young luna.

"You are so cold for someone, who is talking about the death of their parent." His voice was even, but there was something he tried to hinting.

Iris gave alpha Nolan her sweetest smile, knowing what game he was playing. "He has never been a parent for me. He never saw me as a daughter, so it will only fair if I have never seen him as a father either." Iris tilted her head. "After all, most of the father will cherish their son more than their daughter, right? They saw their son as someone, who will carry their bloodline, while the daughter will only be seen if they held some value."

Iris sighed dramatically.

"Some of them even sold their daughter away, as if they were only a mere commodity. Those people are truly the lowest creature, same like my father."

Iris didn’t even hold back when she badmouthed her own father and all of them knew what she was trying to say, because it was well known how alpha Nolan treated the mate bond between Leane and Cane as a bargaining chip to get as many magic stones as he could.

The seven warriors tried to hide their smile of how smooth Iris handled the situation with alpha Nolan, they worried for nothing. Their luna was still as sweet as ever, but surely, being with their alpha taught her a thing or two of how sharp your tongue could be.

On the other hand, alpha Nolan didn’t look bothered at all. He had so many experiences under his belt to react negatively to such comment, all he did was smiling at Iris, but you wouldn’t be able to read what was in his mind.

Instead of reacting to Iris’s statement, he focused on the original topic.

"You must see the Serafim and you will be able to tell how familiar the two of you are." Alpha Nolan continued the topic as if there was nothing happened. "Someone might mistake you two as siblings."

"When the time comes, I will see her sooner or later, after all, that’s what your purpose to come here, right alpha Nolan." Iris was a little bit wonder, how similar the two of them until alpha Nolan said something like that.

"That’s right." Alpha Nolan agreed. "You can go now if you like, you look healthy enough for a long journey, we don’t need to wait for Cane to give you permission to leave." The way he talked about it, as if Iris’s every movement was controlled by Cane and it painted him in a bad light.

"Oh, Cane didn’t forbid me to go, I only don’t want to go if he didn’t come."

This alpha from the Winter Moon pack was old, but shifters were built differently, even when they aged, they would still look intimidating and the way he carried himself would make you think not to mess up with him, he appeared to be kind and an easy person to talk to, but Iris remembered what Cane had taught her.

’People like Alan and king Aeon are people, who are easier to read and handle than the people, who appeared so calm and collected, because you will have a hard time to read their true intention.’

And alpha Nolan belonged to the latter.

’Every man in high position has their own ambition and will scheme their way to achieve it, while men in lower rank will trick and cheat to raise in rank. You can’t believe them.’

In another words, Cane taught Iris not to believe anyone so easily, even he himself had his own plot and scheme under his sleeves.

"Since you look so well now and we apparently meet here by accident, why don’t we have a walk, while we are talking to know each other more?" Alpha Nolan suggested. He looked harmless and talked to Iris in fatherly tone.

Zephyr was about to chime in and politely reject the offer, but Iris had answered him first.

"It will be my pleasure," Iris said, smiling sweetly.

If it was in the past, she would have been flustered and didn’t have any idea what to do, but being with Cane for a year taught her a lot of things. More so, she was not as clueless and defenseless woman as before.

She could protect herself and kill this alpha if she felt she was in danger. This ability really boasted her confidence and as someone, who used to be threatened in her entire life, this was very liberating to be able to stand head to head with your interlocutors or someone, who had every intention to intimidate you.

Alpha Nolan approached Iris and both of them walked together around the pack house. She told him that she was going to see Zale and Lil Thing and this interested the alpha more.

There was nothing to hide about her healing ability, since the Serafim had heard that and alpha Nolan also had seen Lil Thing before.

However, Eron didn’t go with them, as he went away to report this to Cane.

"This is interesting to know that you are more powerful than the current Serafim, luna Iris," alpha Nolan said casually, as if he was not hinting at anything.

"You make another presumption, alpha Nolan. It will consider an insult for the Holy Kingdom if someone misinterpreted it," Iris replied solemnly. "We all know how words can be twisted when there are so many lips talked about it."

The six warriors behind Iris looked at each other, as they shared a secret smile among them to hear how their luna could talk smoothly with a seasonal alpha like Nolan. Indeed, their alpha’s influence had rubbed on her eventually.

Iris was right, the word could be twisted and the last thing they wanted was to be on bad term with the Holy Kingdom. This was Cane’s main concern too when he said he didn’t want her to cure the baby. Iris was still conflicted about that decision...

"My apologize again, luna Iris." Alpha Nolan was so polite, it was almost thrilling to see a person like him didn’t look down on her like the other alphas used to do. "You are right. Words can be sharper than claws and destructive enough more than a cursed beast."

Iris pretended not to hear the last statement about the cursed beast, because right now the lycan was feared by all the people more than the monsters after the death of the king.

But, in twisted way, she couldn’t imagine people feared Lu, who always seemed moody and clingy whenever he took over Cane’s consciousness. It didn’t make sense in a way.

Thankfully, alpha Nolan didn’t try to be a nuisance anymore, as he watched closely how Iris healed Zale with her white lights.

"I just learned this," Iris replied to alpha Nolan when he asked, since when she learned healing power. Before, he could only purify the black magic, but now Haco taught her how to improvise her power whenever he was not so sleepy and senile.

But their conversation didn’t last for long because not long after Cane came and the room was very suffocating with two alphas gave off the feeling of domination.

"Alpha Nolan, may I know what are you doing here?"
