The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 600: THE BASTARD

Chapter 600: THE BASTARD

"What are you talking about with Haco." Iris was walking back with Cane toward their bedroom after she had fun chatted with her seven personal warriors and the other. She looked happy and it could be seen in her eyes, who she walked lightly beside her mate.

Cane held her hand tightly and watched how radiant his mate was. "The sword," he replied curtly, as he intertwined their fingers together.

"Did he remember more about it?" Iris became curious and interested to know more about their conversation.

"No." Cane shook his head. He had tried to ask Haco, whether he could remember more about the swords.

However, instead of remembering anything about it, Haco actually didn’t remember their conversation that night at all. He claimed he had never met Cane in the middle of the night. When he mentioned about the poison, the sorcerer even more confused, he declared, he wouldn’t be so evil to create a poison for Iris. He also didn’t believe she would ask him such thing.

’It will be more believable if it’s you, who asked me to make poison rather than your innocent mate. Don’t be ridiculous and framed your own mate.’ That was what Haco said.

Well, without Iris’s confession about her frequent dark thoughts, he wouldn’t believe it too.

Cane had told Iris that Haco gave a little bit more explanation about the sword, but there were so many missing pieces that they still needed to figure out.

Haco told Cane that the sword was located in the Andelus Continent, which made sense, since the Holy Kingdom was in the same continent. From what Haco could recall the location of the five swords had been missing in the same year the lycan occupied his body.

How could the location of the swords be lost? Because the map showing the place had been stolen.

And by now, it had been five decades since these swords were last seen and visited by the Serafim. From the scripture that Haco read, the swords could absorb the dark influences from the Serafim and purified her power. Therefore, the Serafim would be often visiting the place.

But, they needed to have the map of the location to find it, since the place was akin to a maze and you would get lost in it, even if you had gone back and forth, you would never find the location of the swords without the map.

In that case, since the map had gone missing, the recent generation of the Serafim was not able to purify themselves and probably this was the cause of why the power of the current Serafim declined greatly. The last statement was only Haco’s wild guess, but if one was thinking in that way, that was more than a possibility.

"The life essence of the first Serafim is within me, no wonder I keep seeing the swords," Iris muttered. Those swords were created by the first Serafim after all. She then glanced at Cane. "Haco only mentioned five swords?"

Cane nodded. "It is either he didn’t remember it, or there is no mention about the sixth sword in the first place." Cane caressed Iris’s cheeks and tightened the cloak around her shoulder. The wind was rather cold.

"From what the Serafim showed me, the sixth sword was created in the very last second, as if she didn’t really think about it and only did it out of impulse. I am not sure why she decided to make the lycan as the last sword."

Iris could feel the emotions of the first Serafim and it was very complex and complicated, let alone her thought, based on that, she was not sure what the cause of the sudden decision.

"I think, we really need to see the current Serafim to know more about it."

Cane was not thrilled with the idea. The problem with the Serafim was an entirely different matter. Just because the lycan chose him as his vessel and the first Serafim’s life essence was within Iris, it didn’t make them must jump into the affair with the Holy Kingdom.

Though, Cane was well aware, this problem would come knocking on their door sooner or later, especially with that mysterious man named Rei, who would be a constant scourge that plagued Cane’s mind.

His grip on his mate tightened every time he remembered the speed of that man, which even the lycan couldn’t be on par with him. The thought vexed Cane.

"Let’s thing about all these issues one at time," Cane said. He pointed there was more pressing issue they needed to deal with first, such as the upcoming winter and now there were hundred of thousand people they needed to feed.

It was not the problem with money, because with the fortune that those dead alphas had gathered, they had more than enough to feed them all, but the problem laid on how they could get enough grain, since the southern land was not blessed to be fertile enough to grow anything edible.

The fertile area would be the area around the capital city and east continent, which was; Winter Moon pack and Moon Dew pack, even so it wouldn’t be enough to feed the whole pack in the south.

Therefore, they relied heavily on the merchant. This was one of the reasons why Cane couldn’t leave Diandem pack before he met with them to discuss about grain and also why he didn’t abandon this pack right away, since he saw the benefit in it, though Ethan disliked this pack so much.

Iris was right, they really needed to see it with their own eyes to decide whether they wanted the pack or not, because it would be different by being here in person and received the report, which someone else’s perspective could be mixed in it.

"What were you talking about with alpha Nolan?" Iris changed the subject. She had been wanting to ask about this, but only now she could gather the courage.

"Nothing important," Cane said shortly. Alpha Nolan was the last person he wanted to think about at this moment, let alone to have a conversation about him.

"Oh..." Iris was familiar with that tone. Cane didn’t want her to pry further, because he didn’t want to talk about it, in which she fell silent.

A few moment later, before the two of them could spend their time alone behind the closed door, Ethan came to inform them that Sofia had given birth to a son.

"The plan is in the motion now," the gamma said.

============================

Sofia held her baby tightly against her chest, the pain had subsided a little bit, but she was still very weak. She felt like she was about to fall asleep, but the crying sound from the baby in her arms and the dangerous growl from the beast that guarded her closely against the raging mad of so many warriors from the Howling Wolf pack kept her awake.

At the very least, there were six beasts, which was the warriors of the Howling Wolf pack, demanded Redmond to step aside, as they wanted to execute Sofia for deceiving them.

They were in deep impression the baby would be the next alpha in line for their pack and they actually would see the Nortern family would have another member aside from the alpha.

However, their hope was crushed completely when they learned the baby didn’t have the golden eyes they expected to see.

Yet, Redmond in his grey beast, didn’t back down at all, even though he was outnumbered by these warriors.

The room was small, if the fight broke out, there was no way Redmond could protect Sofia and their baby. They would tend to get hurt and the only thing he could do right now was to kill the time until the beta arrived.

Therefore, he could only let out a warning growl at them to back off, without really trying to attack them first and initiate the fight. The situation wouldn’t be on his favor.

Redmond cursed Jace within, as he was so late!

Maria was still crying, she was hyperventilating, while Kaz had these thousand possibilities ran through his mind right now about the baby, as he kept staring at the baby and the grey beast back and forth, but he was afraid to say it, because it would sound so final.

And the old steward was still trying to hold onto his shattered hope that he could be mistaken and the baby was the alpha’s, or else, he couldn’t face the error of what he had done.

He had endured the alpha’s wrath and lost his position as the head steward for nothing!

The baby was still crying and the beasts were growling, but then Jace appeared with a dozen of warrior on his own, which suffocated this small house.

"SHIFT!" Jace commanded to his warriors and then glare at Redmond because he refused to shift. His instinct didn’t allow him to lower his guard, as he kept his position in front of Sofia and his son. "Shift, Redmond. You don’t help at all by being stubborn like this. Shift."

The grey beast snarled, but then he shifted into his human form, as Redmond glared at Jace, as if telling him he was so fuck up to be late at this critical moment.

"Beta Jace! The baby is not the alpha’s..." Maria wailed. Her tears streamed down her face and she was in so much shock. She was in denial right now. "That slut has deceived us... The baby is not the alpha’s firstborn... The baby is a bastard!"
