"That slut gave birth to a bastard!" Maria roared angrily. She was so mad, she was having a hard time to breath. She wanted to rip that woman’s face with both of her hands. She wanted that swindler to die!

She had dedicated his time and energy to help her throughout the pregnancy and even risked everything to offend the luna of the pack, but for what?! She actually conceived someone else’s baby and wanted to pass it as the alpha’s! How vicious and stupid this woman was to think she could do it!

"You must kill that woman and hang her head on the spike! Hang here there!" Maria stood up, her eyes blazed with rage.

Yet, her rage was nothing compared to what Redmond felt at this moment when he heard how this old hag cursed at Sofia and his son!

His blood boiled and he was seeing red. Anger ghosted under his skin, as his body trembled. He was about to shift again and shred Maria to pieces for saying something like that!

However, Jace saw it first and he jumped between him and Maria, just in case Redmond got his anger out of control.

"SHUT UP!" Jace roared, his voice demanded their attention, slightly distracted them from the hatred that was so thick in the air. "Sofia had deceived us by trying to pass the baby as the alpha’s firstborn! She has committed a grief crime for doing so!"

"Yes! That’s why she needed to be killed!"

"Hang her head!"

"Lash her to death!"

"Maim her limbs!"

All of them shouted angrily, suggesting the cruelest punishment possible that they could think of. Of course, they had a lot. The slavery taught them how to be cruel and they had gone through the same thing in the past, watching their fellow pack member died in the most horrendous way.

Hearing how they wanted to kill her, Sofia hugged her crying son tightly, she was so afraid as she cried as well. She didn’t mean it in this way. She didn’t mean to deceive them, she wanted the baby to be the alpha’s too.

But right now, the alpha was not here and the only person, who stood by her was only the father of her child. Redmond had his back faced her, those broad shoulders were so tensed and she could feel the anger that rolled off his body. Weirdly, she found a little bit comfort in it.

At the very least, Redmond was not going to back down, he promised to make sure she would be alive. The alpha had spared her life too if she was willing to cooperate.

And now, the baby had been proven was not his, Sofia was left with the only option she had to keep her head intact.

"ENOUGH!" Jace snarled at all of them, forced them to shut their mouth, as he glared toward all the people in the room.

Ardand and the healers had scurried away, as they were too afraid to say anything related to this problem. Compared to the warrior, they were not very vocal to show their disappointment and anger.

"This situation has been informed to the alpha and we will wait what punishment she will receive!" Jace growled at them all, but this answered didn’t satisfy them.

"We need to kill her, beta!"

"There is no need to wait for the alpha! We know the rule! The alpha will kill that woman eventually!"

"Kill her!"

"Kill her!"

"We must uphold justice!"

This was a nightmare, this was the most horrendous situation Sofia had ever experienced, this was even worst than when the pack was being attacked by the people from the Blue Moon pack and the royal warrior.

Surrounding by people, who wanted to kill you was horrifying, Sofia couldn’t help it, but wet herself. She didn’t even realize it...

"Do you want to go against the alpha’s decision again!?" Jace barked at them viciously. "At first you tried to say how the alpha is so heartless to leave a woman, who was pregnant with his child alone! Have it crossed your mind the alpha wanted to make sure the baby was his before he claimed anything?! But you bunch of idiot jumped right away into a conclusion and claimed the baby as the alpha’s!"

Maria and Kaz lowered their head, they were the loudest people, who wanted to kill Sofia, but now they didn’t even dare to see the beta when his angry glared fell on the two of them.

"And you two! You rallied the people behind you and claimed her as the alpha’s mistress when the alpha didn’t say anything about it! You are so lucky to have your head still intact after countless time disregarding the alpha’s decision and humiliated our luna!" Jace walked toward the warriors. "Now you want to disregard the alpha again!? By deliver the punishment without his permission?!"

Silent fell so hard inside the room, as they stopped screaming cruel thing how to kill Sofia.

"If you feel disappointed, that’s what you got when you don’t think with your head and only listened some rubbish! You listened to Kaz that the baby is the alpha’s, even though he had never put his claim on the baby, neither to this woman!"

Kaz was shaking, he felt his chest tightened when he heard the truth in Jace’s voice. The alpha had never said the baby was his, he had never regarded Sofia as well. Not even once he acknowledged Sofia. Kaz should have seen that. Cane was not so heartless to neglect his own flesh and blood...

"And now you want to go ahead and disregard the alpha again?! If you listened to Kaz more than our alpha, why don’t you go ahead and make him your alpha instead?!"

Jace’s last statement sent them to their knees, as they were trembling in fear. They wouldn’t be so brazen enough to do such a thing, the thought would never cross their mind at all, because it was too harebrained.

"We will not dare to do such thing, beta!"

"We will not dare!"

Kaz and Maria pressed their forehead against the floor and they looked so pitiful when fear washed over them, as the flashes of what they had done appeared before their eyes.

Now they could see how wrong they were, the memories of what they had done scared them to death. The audacity they had was appalling.

"SCRAM ALL OF YOU! Before there is any word from the alpha, no one of you will do anything to her and the baby or else, I will count that as a betrayal and death is the only thing that suit a traitor!" Jace was enraged, his voice made them scrambled on their feet and immediately left the house.

"Nice speech," Redmond said sarcastically. "It will be great if you grace me with your presence earlier before they started whining."

"I didn’t think the situation would be that bad, I was writing a report first."

"Yeah. Can’t you see? I almost killed all of your warrior and they begged for my mercy?" Redmon didn’t stop with his sarcasm.

There was only the three of them inside the bedroom with the crying baby and Jace’s people were outside of the house, guarding this place, just in case the other warrior tried to barge in, which highly not likely after how Jace grinded them with his harsh words.

Jace rolled his eyes dramatically. "A ’thank you’ will be nice for saving your ass, though."

"What should I thank for? Your people created their own illusion and now they are angry because reality kicked them in the ass. What delusion people you have in your pack, Jace."

Jace closed his eyes, he tried not to be provoked by Redmond’s annoying words and changed the subject.

"You will go with them to the Riverside pack and wait there until further instruction from the alpha. A carriage will be here later at night."

"Okay," Redmond said without feeling enthusiastic at all and then glanced at the baby in Sofia’s arms. "Can you do something to stop the baby from crying? How could that little thing have a loud voice?" He frowned.

"You are the father, why don’t you carry your baby and calm him down?"

Redmond was deep in thought. "I have never carried a baby before. That thing is too fragile."

"’That thing’ is your baby, Redmond." Jace shook his head. In the end, he called someone to get a healer to take care of the baby.

"The baby must be hungry," Nea said, she was the healer, who had cleaned the baby before. "You need to feed him first, Sofia."

Sofia was too exhausted, she didn’t know what to do. "I- I can’t hold the baby."

"Let me help you," Nea said and brought the baby closer to her, as she pulled down the collar of her dress. "Let the baby latches on your breast."

Redmond was flabbergasted, he had never seen a baby was being fed before, but it was Jace, who dragged him out of the bedroom.

"What are you staring at?"

"What?!" Redmond protested, he wanted to say he was the father, so what the problem with him watching his son was eating, but then the complain died down in his throat.

It didn’t take long before the baby stopped crying and fell asleep. Half an hour later, Nea came out and informed them that the mother and the baby had fallen asleep.

"But, I need help to clean her up, because I think... uhm. She wetted herself," she said sheepishly.
