The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter
Chapter 487: DON’T GO ANYWHERE

Chapter 487: DON’T GO ANYWHERE

Redmond looked around the room while the members of the Howling Wolf pack walked out of their safe place. He scratched his head and craned his neck, his expression contorted.

"Looking for someone?" Jace approached him, nudging his shoulder. "If you are looking for your baby’s momma, you can stop now. Maria has already taken her to her bedroom."

Redmond scoffed. "I am not looking for her, why would I look for her?" He swiftly walked toward the pack house and the Beta could only shake his head in disbelief.

"I can’t imagine what kind of personality the baby will have when it grows up," he mumbled under his breath. He still needed to send a searching team to find Cane in the mountains. It had been more than half a day since the Alpha went there with the King and the dark witch. He didn’t dare to imagine the worst. "Call the other warriors, we will go to the Goffa mountain," the Beta instructed one of the warriors.

"I am going with you, too," Lou said, cleaning up his long swords, while Sabian helped Lil Thing to clean up his wounds after the battle. The poor bear sat down dejectedly, licking his wounds and whimpering pitifully. Its soft fur was matted with dry blood.

Jace frowned. He was thankful for his help, but he was still cautious with this merchant, especially when he learned this merchant was a magic user too. They didn’t know what they would see there and he didn’t think it was wise to take him with them.

However, before Jace could reject him politely, Koda approached them and joined him.

"I am going too," Koda said firmly, not leaving any chance for Jace to refuse him. "My alpha is still out there, I need to know how he is. I am going."

Lou tilted his head and gave Jace an innocent smile, as if telling the Beta if Koda could go, so could he.

"Fine, be ready, we are leaving in ten minutes," Jace grumbled, he hoped he could meet with Ethan first, so he could learn the situation there better.

But, he still had this nagging feeling when he couldn’t find his sister.

"Carla, where is Aliana? She is not with you all?" Jace asked a young girl around the age of sixteen, who usually helped Aliana, as the group of children from the orphanage walked out of the safe place.

This morning had a nice start with the sun shining warmly. If only this horrendous thing didn’t happen, it would have ended as a perfect day.

"Miss Aliana went with Gamma Ethan and a few young warriors, but I don’t know where they had gone," Carla replied, since she was given an order when she bumped into Aliana to take care of the children with the other girls around her age.

"Aliana went with Ethan?!" Jace raised his voice without him realizing it and Carla flinched, she cowered away, afraid of Beta’s anger since it wasn’t something she could handle. "I am going to kill Ethan for this!"

However, Jace was too furious to notice that, as he gathered all the people quickly.

"You said ten minutes!" Lou complained when they were ready to depart only after less than five minutes.

"Let’s rest for a while, you look so pale," Iris said worriedly, as she tilted her head to look at Cane. She was very concerned about his current state, he looked like he was going to collapse anytime soon.

However, despite how lethargic he looked right now, his grip on her waist was so tight, as if he was afraid someone would take her away, if she was not within his reach.

"I am fine, let’s keep going." Cane wanted to be within his pack territory as soon as possible, only then he could put his guard down a little bit.

"No, you are not," Iris said, she almost cried with worry when Cane neglected his own well being. "Let’s wait for them near the river," Iris said, as she could hear the water stream in the distance.

She was still in awe being surrounded by so many sounds that she could hear. She didn’t think the world could be so noisy, but at the same time, it was comforting, depending on what sound she heard.

But of course, her favorite one was Cane’s voice, she felt like she could listen to him all day and night. Yet, this was not the right time for her to gush over his delightful voice.

"No. I can’t pick up their scents if we are near the water." Probably because he was too tired, he could barely smell anything around him. How exhausted was he at this point?

"It’s okay, Haco is moving closer to the river too," Iris replied and this made Cane frown.

"How do you know that?"

"Haco is reeking of black magic. I can feel it. He is moving closer to the river," Iris said. "Let’s wait there, okay?"

This time, the Alpha obliged and let Iris lead the way, as he was having a hard time walking.

Once they were near the river, Iris helped Cane lean back against a big rock and was about to leave, but the Alpha was immediately on alert and caught her wrist. His gaze turned sharp.

"Where are you going?" Cane growled.

"I am going to get some water for you."

"No. Stay with me."

"Cane..."

"No, Iris. Stay with me." Cane pulled Iris closer, until she sat down on his lap and cradled her. "You said Haco will come, we will let him get us water later."

Iris didn’t know whether she wanted to laugh or cry when she heard that. The way Cane said it, as if the sorcerer was their personal servant... she didn’t expect that the way Cane phrased his words could be this funny to her ears.

Iris chuckled when Cane nudged her neck and rested his head on her shoulder, but then she saw something in the distance.

She had seen them before, but not these many...
