The Alpha: Claiming His Enemy's Daughter -
Chapter 486: AN EMOTIONAL MORNING
Chapter 486: AN EMOTIONAL MORNING
Cane was so lethargic to follow Lu’s train of thought when he saw Rei, but he could get a gist of it. That man knew all the secrets about Iris, he was related to the first Serafim and Lu knew him.
The fact that Rei was only willing to answer all of Iris’ questions if she left with him bothered Cane greatly.
Realizing how Iris wanted to leave after the way his pack members treated her and how that was the last issue that they argued over before Lu came to the surface for the first time after Iris unintentionally hurt his wolf spirit, dreadful feelings washed over Cane at the thought someone could tempt her to leave.
Someone could take her away and he couldn’t find her. Worst of all, Iris might walk away from him willingly...
She might have fought Rei earlier and was adamant to stay, but one thing that was engraved in Cane’s mind was; people’s hearts were so fickle, that was why he could scheme against them and manipulate their feelings about a certain thing... and Iris had a thought to leave before.
Especially when this man had this unique ability and even when he was in the lycan form, he was not able to catch up to him.
If it was not for Iris, who stabbed him, he would have lost her by now, while he didn’t even know where he had to start looking for her if he did succeed, since he knew nothing about that man.
"Don’t go, please..." Cane hugged her closer, while still kissing her. He felt like he would never get enough of her.
However, Iris was so happy to notice the desperation in his voice and kissed Cane back eagerly, while giggling. "I will not go anywhere. I will be by your side. You are the only one I want."
She was always clear about what she felt and Cane was the only one she wanted.
Cane breathed heavily and he felt like he couldn’t get enough of her. He wanted to pull her even closer than this and become one with her.
The Alpha only wanted his mate, she was the only one who could give him salvation, the only source of peace in his chaotic world...
Meanwhile, Iris was oblivious to Cane’s despair and the new realization that dawned on him.
==============================
More than half of the warriors that Will brought from the Riverside had died by the time the battle ended, even with the help of Lou and Lil thing.
The merchant didn’t use his magic, but apparently, he was good with long swords and Lil thing showed its ferocious side, which was truly frightening. People would think twice before approaching this huggable bear in the future, if they learned how it brutally killed the royal warriors and the warriors from the Blue Moon pack alike.
Only when they were finally sure that no more enemies were alive, did they open the safety door, which showed them an old flight of stairs that led them down to the secured area. It was a huge underground hall with enough food and drinks for all the people to last a week. Almost all the members of the Howling Wolf pack were down there, waiting anxiously until the situation calmed down.
They prayed like they had never prayed before, trembling in fear, while waiting with the feeling of uncertainty plaguing their minds, whether they would have a pack to return to or they would be forced to become slaves one more time.
Some women cried, bawling their eyes out when they felt the mate bond snap, feeling their mate die during the attack. The pain and grief they had to endure rendered all of them breathless, the tension was so real.
They held their breaths when they heard footsteps and cried at the same time when they realized it was actually the warriors from their pack who opened the door.
Clamor filled the underground hall, as they cried in relief and started asking and looking at the warriors for their family members.
However, Will brushed them off, as he marched further into the inner hall to look for a certain someone. His face was contorted and he could feel his heart thumping wildly, as the most horrendous thoughts swarmed his mind. He used to have these horrible thoughts when he was awakened by the nightmares in the middle of the night.
What if Hanna didn’t make it? What if she was not in this safe place and got left behind in the pack house? What if she had died somewhere...?
Will pushed people away from him when they blocked him to ask about their family members. He couldn’t think straight, until he saw that familiar face and he almost stumbled on his feet because of how relieved he was to see Hanna standing next to Amee, with a few other omegas.
Once his eyes found his woman, he couldn’t rip his eyes away from her, as he walked toward Hanna absentmindedly and stretched out his hands to hug her. He buried his face in the crook of her neck and cried silently.
Hanna didn’t realize it and was startled when Will suddenly pulled her into a bone- crushing hug. There were so many people around them and with a lot of noises, the room was clamoring and Hanna was in the middle of a conversation with the other girls when Will’s scent engulfed her.
"W- Will?" Hanna was startled. She was worried about him and wondered if he felt the same, but who would have thought Will would come running to her on his own.
From the corner of her eyes, Hanna could see Amee grin before the old woman ushered the other girls away, so they wouldn’t bother them.
"Will, are you okay?" Hanna asked, she had to stand on her tiptoes and her position was not comfortable, yet she didn’t complain and hugged this big warrior, caressing his back to comfort him, his whole body was trembling.
Will didn’t answer her question.
"Are you hurt?"
Still, he didn’t answer her, but Hanna could feel her neck dampening...
