Chapter 429: INCIDENT

Lu slouched his shoulders upon hearing their harsh rejection of his brilliant idea. Why could they accept Cane’s opinion and follow his every order blindly, but wouldn’t even consider his at all?

"Why not?" Lu looked at Iris sullenly, because she looked so mortified when he suggested that, even though this idea would benefit her as well. "You don’t want to have a child with me?"

Once again, Iris was not sure how she looked, but she didn’t want to look at her own reflection in the mirror right now. She knew it wouldn’t look great.

"You don’t even like those people, so what’s the problem here? Instead of getting rid of them and wasting such good resources, it will be great if we can make the best out of them."

"By... sacrificing them?" Ethan asked foolishly, as he was too shocked to hear such an idea coming out of Cane’s mouth, despite knowing it was not their alpha who was voicing it.

"Of course."

If there was one similar thing between Cane and Lu, it must be how they saw value in the people around them, but this lycan took it to a whole new level, radiating a different shade of darkness with this suggestion and his simple way of thinking.

"Luna... I don’t think we can deal with him..." Jace shook his head, as he massaged his temple. His voice sounded so exhausted, albeit him just sitting there while the day was still too early.

Iris held Cane’s hand, it was so cold to the touch, as if he had been holding a bunch of ice cubes. "No, no. We will not resort to anything involving dark magic, you are not going to perform any dark magic. Okay? Promise me."

"So, not fixing my penis? Which means no child?"

Iris really wanted to cry now, how could he talk about such a thing so freely without feeling any embarrassment at all. This was one topic that Cane wouldn’t talk about out loud, even the people around him, who knew about what happened, would be careful enough not to bring up the topic of him siring a child in front of him.

"No. No fixing it for now." Iris shook her head and then changed back the topic to dark magic. "No dark magic, no sacrifices, okay? Promise me, please."

Lu narrowed his red eyes. He didn’t say anything and only stared at Iris.

"Lu?"

"You are still going to make me promise the same thing again? No, I don’t want to. The last time I did, it cost me greatly." He turned his head to the other side, so he didn’t need to look at her pleading eyes, because it would falter his resolve.

Iris frowned. "When did I ever ask you to promise me something?" She shook his hand, but he refused to look at her.

Lu was determined to not answer her and ignored her completely now and because Iris kept holding his hand, which made his resolution falter, he moved to the sofa and lay down there, sleeping again that he was full now.

"The King will arrive tomorrow, what should we do?" Jace looked at Cane helplessly. "Can you do something to bring Cane back before the royals arrive?" He looked at Iris with expectation evident in his eyes. "Can you tell us again in detail how the lycan took over Cane’s body, probably we can figure out something to bring Cane back."

Iris bit her lip nervously, her guilty feelings resurfaced. She pulled at her hair in an attempt to calm herself, but it didn’t seem to work.

Thankfully, Ethan and Jace still didn’t suspect her and Haco was there to deflect the topic.

"Why don’t we check the preparations for tomorrow’s welcome party, maybe we can figure something out by the end of the day. I will stay here with the lycan..."

But, as soon as Haco finished speaking, Lu snapped at him from the sofa, glaring at him with his red eyes. "I don’t want to be with an old man like you."

"Damn it, Lu! You have used me for five decades and this is how you treat me now?" Haco glared back at the lycan.

For a moment, they threw dagger looks at each other. There were some occasions where Haco would be scared of the lycan, but he knew him better to know that this creature wouldn’t hurt him.

"Fine." Cane closed his eyes again, as if he was sleeping, but they couldn’t be sure about that.

With that, they went about their day and the sorcerer stayed in the study room with the lycan.

"So, Lu. What’s your deal coming out all of a sudden?" Haco asked Lu, who was still sleeping, as he sat down on the sofa opposite. He stared at Cane and felt sorry for the Alpha. The lycan could be stubborn and it didn’t seem like he was going to give up his body willingly, unless it was Cane himself, who took over.

However, Haco was not sure how badly Iris had damaged his spirit and how long it would take for him to recover, if there was a chance for him to recover at all...

This was one of the things that Haco couldn’t understand about the lycan and the power that entailed this cursed creature.

Lu opened his eyes, as he knew it was only Haco in the room. His expression was very serious and his eyes were ice cold.

"The symbol," Lu said curtly, but his voice dripped with viciousness. This was so different from the sullen lycan that he looked to be in front of Iris, right now, he lived up to his name as a cursed creature, he looked so dangerous.

"What symbol? Ah!" Haco remembered the symbol that they found inside the hut when they went to the Riverside pack. "What is it with the symbol? I recognized it as Decratic’s symbol."

There were a lot of questions that Haco wanted to ask the lycan at the same time, but he knew he couldn’t do that with Lu, or else, he would withdraw and say nothing at all if he felt being forced to reveal something he didn’t want.

"It’s him. His worshipper is going to revive him."

Haco had thousands of questions in his mind, but he chose one that was straight to the point he wanted to be cleared about first. "Lu, was the first Serafim your mate?"

Observing his conversation with Iris and how Lu called her the Serafim and now he realized they lived in the same timeline, the question didn’t come out of the blue.

On the other hand, Lu’s red eyes dimmed slightly when he heard that. He didn’t answer the question, but his expression showed sorrow and anger, but at the same time, he looked so forlorn.

Iris was in the main hall with Hanna to check on the decorations. They were planning a party that didn’t include any sex and endless alcohol, thus to replace them, she must come up with other forms of amusement. Cane had given her a few suggestions and now she was working on it.

That was why the party this time needed meticulous preparation. This could be said to be the first party that didn’t have a lot of naked women walking down the halls with bags of Floence powder and also the smell of sex permeating in the air.

But, as Iris checked on the final preparations, from the corner of her eyes, she could see Sofia walking into the hall with tears in her eyes. Jemma, her personal maid, was by her side and she looked furious.

Iris was not ready for another drama, thus she chose to walk away, wanting to inspect the next thing in her list.

Meanwhile, the people treated her with respect, as they didn’t even dare to look her in the eyes, but everyone there could feel the tension and the awkward silence, as they were working on their tasks.

"Luna Iris!" Jemma called Iris, her voice boomed inside the hall, but Iris had had her back to her, thus she was not aware of it, only Hanna, who narrowed her eyes at this young servant dangerously, as if she was ready to tear her apart for talking like that to Iris. "Luna Iris, wait! Stop there!"

"Who are you to stop the Luna?!" Hanna barked viciously, as she stood in front of Jemma to block her from coming closer to Iris.

Hanna had heard what happened to Iris, but when she went to console her, Iris simply looked so ignorant like she didn’t even care about it. She thought her missy would have cried like usual and hid herself in her bedroom, but it seemed she was wrong. Iris had spent her time in the Alpha’s study room with the Alpha.

"Move away!" Jemma was rude, she acted like this was Alpha Gallot’s pack, where Sofia was quite favored by the Alpha. Not to mention, she was pregnant now with Alpha Cane’s baby, which should increase the importance of her existence in this pack.

But, ever since what happened yesterday, people were afraid to be close to Sofia and this made her sad, because they were afraid they would offend Luna Iris and get punished by Alpha Cane.

Of course, Jemma was furious, because before this, they were very welcoming to Sofia. They took care of and pampered her.

"Back off!" Hanna snapped back at Jemma, her body was shaking with anger to see the disrespect she displayed.

However, Jemma was hot blooded and Sofia didn’t restrain her, and it happened so fast when Jemma raised her hand and clawed at Hanna’s face.

At the same time, Iris realized Hanna didn’t come with her and turned around, only to witness the whole incident.

Hanna fell to the ground and blood dripped from the wound on her cheek.
