Chapter 430: IRIS DIDN’T GIVE A SHIT

Iris realized Hanna didn’t come with her, but when she turned around to look for her, she witnessed something that made her blood run cold.

Jemma raised her hand at Hanna, she moved so fast and when Iris thought she was slapping her, she immediately realized it was not a mere slap. The woman extended her claws and injured Hanna’s face.

On the other hand, Hanna didn’t expect that either and her body fell to the ground from the impact. She was about to stand up and fight her for real when she felt blood ooze out of the wound on her cheek. It dripped to the ground and only then the pain came. Hanna was stunned.

Everyone in this hall held their breaths to see what was going on and Jemma smiled smugly to see Hanna in such a state. She let out a triumphant scoff, feeling superior.

"You should know your place!" Jemma hissed.

Meanwhile, Sofia was surprised at what her maid had done, but she didn’t say anything, nor did she reprimand her for her actions, seeing nobody said or did anything about it.

The truth was; everyone was still in shock. They needed a few more moments to process what happened in their heads. It didn’t occur to them to go forward and help Hanna up. They were stupefied, and then, their attention shifted to Iris, waiting for her reaction, since Hanna was a person who was very dearest to her.

The silence descended in this hall was so suffocating, one could cut through the air that was filled with so much tension when Iris finally moved and approached Hanna, who was whimpering in pain. Apparently, Jemma had clawed the corner of her eyes.

Iris dropped to her knees and looked at her dearest one. Blood oozed from Hanna’s face and stained her neck, while her hand covered her wound.

Iris felt her heart beat wildly, as she extended her hand and touched Hanna’s blood. It dyed her fingers in red and when she finally spoke, her voice was even. It almost scared her how she could keep her calm even when she felt a storm slowly brewing in her mind.

"Guards."

Two guards finally snapped back to reality and rushed to approach Iris.

"Bring her to see Grace."

"Miss... I..." Hanna was about to say something, but Iris’ cold eyes fell on her which efficiently silenced her.

"Leave."

Hanna immediately lowered her eyes and with the help of the two guards, she left the room. It was dead silent again.

The members of the pack, who were around, didn’t even dare to make a noise. They didn’t even dare to breathe loudly, as fear gripped their hearts and ran in their veins to see the now calm Iris.

The Luna didn’t have an imposing figure, she was pretty skinny and small for a shifter, but somehow, she held intimidating authority with the way she talked and moved, as if it radiated from her body now. They almost felt like they were witnessing the rage of the Alpha instead and felt dreadful for Jemma.

How stupid that servant was to strike Hanna? They condemned her act of violence against Hanna. Probably, that was how she usually was, intimidating the other servants in Alpha Gallot’s pack, but she should know better when she came to a different pack. Because they didn’t behave the same way here.

"What? Your servant needs to be taught a lesson!" Jemma tried to make a front before Iris, but it was clear to see that she was scared of the Luna.

"Luna Iris, you didn’t know what happened earlier, but your servant was really rude to us." Sofia tried to soften Iris’ anger, but if she knew, she wouldn’t have tried at all because right now, Iris’ attention shifted to her.

"Rude?" Iris asked.

"Yes, she blocked our way when we were going to talk to you," Sofia replied. She tried to be as calm as Iris, but her heart was beating painfully in her chest, as fear crept in.

"I told her to do so because I don’t want to talk to you, but you injured her for that?" Iris didn’t give the order, but Hanna knew how she felt and the last thing she wanted was to talk to Sofia.

Sofia was surprised to hear what Iris said, but she immediately regained her composure and found a way to explain the situation.

"I want to have a talk with you Luna, regarding what happened yesterday." Sofia looked pitiful, as she lowered her head and stared at her bulging stomach. "I think it’s not right for you to punish those people just because they treated me nicely."

Here she was, appealing to Iris, in front of the crowd, as someone, who stood by them pleading to the Luna to lift the punishment when it was not even her, who had punished them. How twisted the way her thought process was...

Iris was in a tight spot, whatever she did, she would always end up with the short end of the stick and they would never be able to see her for who she was.

They thought Iris would defend herself, explaining why she didn’t forgive Kaz and the others for treating Sofia nicely.

But unfortunately for them, Iris no longer gave a shit about the way they looked at her, nor did she want to explain herself for something they were clearly able to understand, since it was what they were doing.

If they wanted to hate her, she should, at least, give them a reason to do so, thus they could do it to their heart’s content.

"Guards!" Iris called out for the second time and two guards came to approach her.

All of the people held their breaths, waiting to hear what order Iris would give them. Would she order them to release Kaz and the others?

However, what came out of Iris’ lips made them gasp in shock.

"Drag this ungrateful servant to the front yard, I want her to be lashed a hundred times!" Iris roared her first order, probably she didn’t realize it, but she used her luna’s voice to make them unable to do anything else, aside from accomplishing her order. "Call Redmond to deliver the punishment!" She finished.

Redmond had been avoiding the pack house like a plague and Iris wanted to drag him back. Moreover, she didn’t believe the warriors from the Howling Wolf pack would uphold justice for Hanna by whipping Jemma, since she knew very well how much they hated this punishment, especially to women, since it reminded them of their own predicament.

But, Redmond was different, he was taught to do this from an early age when he joined the ranks of warriors in the Blue Moon pack. More so, he wouldn’t have any inclination to show mercy on Jemma.

"Luna! A hundred lashes will kill her!" Sofia started freaking out, while Jemma tried to free herself from the guards, who dragged her away to the front yard, as per Iris’ instructions.

"It’s such a pity she will die for her own stupidity," Iris replied callously, she glanced at Sofia, as if she meant nothing to her.

"Luna, are you jealous because I am carrying the alpha’s child?" Sofia asked between her sobs, she tried to stop Iris from walking away from her.

"No." Iris shook her head to emphasize her answer. "You need to take good care of your baby. A pregnant woman shouldn’t be stressed." Iris then looked at the crowd and found the one person she was looking for. "Maria, you can tend to Sofia while Jemma is away. You are so good at taking care of pregnant women, why don’t you take her to rest? She looks so stressed. It is not good for her baby. She is carrying the Alpha’s first child after all."

The crowd looked very uncomfortable with Iris’ last statement, as they lowered their heads. Maria approached Sofia timidly. She didn’t dare to raise her head to look at Iris directly. She was afraid of her, as she gave off an intimidating aura.

"La... Sofia, please come with me," Maria said, as she held Sofia’s elbow.

"No! Please, tell her, her punishment is way too harsh! Her maid will recover in a few hours! She will heal perfectly by tomorrow, but a hundred lashes is too much!"

Iris simply stared at Maria, so she didn’t need to read what Sofia was spouting. "She is your responsibility now. Understood?" Iris didn’t raise her voice, but Maria could hear her crystal clearly, even when Sofia was having a meltdown.

"No! Don’t!" Sofia was screaming now, she was trying to chase after Iris when she turned around and was about to leave, but Maria stopped her, trying to talk some sense into her, to calm her down.

But then, the next second, Sofia collapsed. She lost consciousness because she was overwhelmed by her emotions and all of them screamed to see this. A few people even immediately rushed to help.

Fortunately for Sofia, Maria was there to break her fall and some people got to her in time to hold her body and lay her down on the floor carefully, which prevented her from suffering a fall and something more mortifying from happening.

Iris noticed the commotion and the horrendous expressions of the people around her, as she turned around and saw what was actually happening.

"Luna Iris... please, Sofia will be..." Maria was about to plead with Iris, to take pity on Sofia.

However, Iris immediately cut her off. "I told you, she is your responsibility now, if something happens to her and the child in her stomach, you will be held accountable for that."
