A smile curved Lou’s lips, but there was this fire in his eyes when he stared at Cane, as the Alpha sat down on the sofa and waved his hand, indicating for him to sit down as well.

This orphanage was not the merchant’s place and he was only a guest here, but the way Cane treated him was too outrageous! He just came to visit and gave Iris a bucket of flowers, why did he look so hostile?!

Lou really wanted to curse this alpha!

But in the end, he kept his smile and sat down docilely, or that was how he wanted to appear in front of the Alpha, so Cane wouldn’t put up his guard too high with him. Somehow, this merchant must have read their movement that Iris would help with the orphanage, this was a way for them to warm up to the people and with the help of Prince Kellan, it would be the easiest and safest way to calm down the public after the appearance of the lycan and also the rumor about Prince Vemion’s kidnapping.

There was something wrong with this merchant. He was too persistent about getting close to his mate. It almost felt like he was infatuated with her, though they only met a handful of times. What did he want from Iris?

Cane stood up after Lou stated his intention for coming to the orphanage. "I should decline."

"Why?" Lou stood up as well. He had not yet explained to Cane what kind of help he was going to provide to this place, but he already refused him? "Come and sit down, I have not yet told you what my plans for the orphanage are."

Lou made the same gesture as Cane did when he told him to sit down.

However, it was so bad for him, the trick didn’t work on the Alpha, as he walked toward the door instead, speaking casually.

"This orphanage doesn’t belong to me, it belongs to Prince Kellan. I am not the right person to talk to."

Lou was seething. He had never been so pissed at someone this badly! If anything, it would always be him who messed with someone else.

However, his expression immediately changed when Cane abruptly stopped and turned around to look at the merchant before he reached the handle of the door.

Lou blinked his eyes. He forgot his anger as it was soon replaced by confusion. "How?" He had wanted to step into the Andelus Continent, but it was not an easy feat, especially with his bad status as a merchant and the fact he was a sorcerer who wanted to hide that side of his identity.

It was complicated, but he was willing to listen if there was a way for him to expand his business to the Andelus Continent without implicating himself.

On the other hand, Cane smiled, it was a rare smile, but one that could make you feel a chill run down your spine.

Since this merchant kept insisting on appearing time and time again and pestering his mate, it wouldn’t hurt to add him to his chess board, after all, he was a valuable piece.

Cane then walked toward his bedroom and found Iris perusing her book. She had her back to the door, thus she didn’t notice him, since she was so immersed in what she was reading at the moment.

Cane leaned over and pointed to a certain paragraph in the book. "We no longer have the crystal orchids."

Iris screeched when suddenly someone extended his hand past her shoulder, she was surprised to see Cane behind her. Why didn’t she realize he had been standing behind her?

"Cane? You surprised me."

However, Cane simply repeated what he said. "The Howling Wolf pack no longer has the crystal orchid."

From the looks of it, Iris seemed to change the topic of what she was reading. Right now, she started to read about the natural resources of every pack, and at this moment she was reading about the Howling Wolf pack.

"But why?"

Cane looked at her for a while. "Because the flower was rare to begin with and when the Blue Moon pack attacked my pack, they destroyed the last one."

Iris shifted her gaze uncomfortably when she was reminded of that, but for Cane, he only stated a fact, since she was asking about it. He didn’t intentionally cause her discomfort.
