Chapter 302: TIME LIMIT FOR DISCUSSION

Chapter 302: TIME LIMIT FOR DISCUSSION

"You can wait in one of the rooms, while I take her back to our bedroom," Cane said lightly, as he put his arm around Iris’ waist.

"Why can’t she participate in our conversation? She is the Luna of the pack, right? She must know about her pack too," Lou protested. He didn’t take all the pain to come here, while dragging along that lazy ass white bear to amuse Iris, just to have one on one conversation with Cane again.

That was the most horrible conversation and deal that he had ever had. He didn’t wish to talk with Cane at all! He was no fun!

"She is sick. She still hasn’t recovered." There, Cane made use of the classic excuse from him for his mate yet again. He would have liked for Iris to join the conversation too only if it was not with Lou, since he disliked the way this man looked at his mate. He had not yet forgotten how the merchant brazenly asked for some time alone with Iris either.

"She has recovered well, I don’t see how you can say she is still sick," Lou complained like a child, as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.

However, for his utter disbelief, Iris coughed lightly, as she snuggled closer toward her mate and this made the anger in Cane’s eyes subside a little bit.

Lou’s jaw dropped when he heard that very artificial cough, Iris didn’t even try harder to make it more convincing. She was so wicked!

"I will bring my mate back to rest," Cane said politely, as he turned around with Iris close to him, while Lou fumed, completely annoyed.

And yet, as if helping its master and showing its usefulness, Lil Thing came in time to annoy Cane back, to make it even for its master.

Lil Thing charged forward with its tongue stuck out, acting cute when it stopped in front of Iris, while the children chased after the creature.

"Take your pet away, it can harm the children." Cane glanced at Lou, as he spoke sternly.

"Oh, come on, Alpha, you don’t really think this fluffy bear will harm them, right? Lil Thing loves children, it will not harm even a fly," Lou responded dramatically, while the bear nuzzled Iris’ hand, asking to be petted. "I think Lil Thing likes Iris. It knows beautiful things."

What Lou said was meant to flatter Iris, but because she had her back to him, she wouldn’t know what he was talking about, while the merchant completely forgot about that little detail.

However, he managed to irritate the Alpha further.

Cane took out something from his pocket and watched how this creature tilted its head, interested in what he would take out and immediately acted cute with Cane when it saw the Alpha had taken out a magic stone from his pocket.

Cane carried a stone with him in case he needed to give this to Haco, since he didn’t want to give the sorcerer too many of them at once.

A moment later, Cane threw the magic stone as far as he could and Lil Thing started speeding up toward the stone, while the children happily followed it, chirping happily.

Once again, Lou was flabbergasted. "Stupid Lil Thing," he grumbled in dissatisfaction. His pet betrayed him! He thought the creature came to his aid.

And now, the only thing he could do was watch Cane and Iris’ backs, as they walked away from him. He was pissed!

On their way to their bedroom, Iris tried to explain what happened with Lou earlier.

"... I did not intentionally meet with him," Iris said at the end of her explanation, as she observed Cane’s expression, anxious if he would get the wrong idea. Cane had told her she was not allowed to be close to Lou, but it was not her fault, because she was having an evening walk with Hanna when Lou suddenly appeared with Lil Thing.

Iris had tried to avoid him, but he insisted on talking with her. He was also very persistent about giving her flowers, which she only accepted because she wanted him to stop pestering her.

On the other hand, Cane listened to her in silence, which made Iris feel even more nervous and at the end of her explanation, he just replied with one word.

"Okay."

That was it. Iris should have known, he wouldn’t say anything much.

"Stay inside, I will ask someone to call Hanna over," Cane said, as he opened the door to their bedroom, holding it until Iris entered the room.

"Are you angry with me?" Iris suddenly blurted out. She really wanted to know what was in his mind. Why was he so calm?

"No." Cane shook his head and caressed her cheek. "Let’s have dinner together. I will be quick." Cane didn’t wish to spend another second with Lou, thus he would like to end whatever conversation he would have with the merchant quickly.

Only then could Iris smile, she felt so giddy, as if there were a bunch of butterflies fluttering inside her stomach, as she tiptoed and kissed his cheek. "Okay."

This time, it was Iris, who closed the door. She was too embarrassed with her impulsive act earlier, but she didn’t regret it, though she wondered what kind of expression Cane had right now, because she was too nervous to even glance at him.

On the other hand, Cane didn’t show any change in his expression, as he was deep in thought and stayed behind the closed door for a little bit longer, before he turned around and walked away.

================================

"He really loves to test my patience!" Lou grumbled, as he waited for almost an hour, as he paced back and forth in front of the fireplace, while Sabian kept quiet.

The poor servant didn’t know what to say to his master when he was being like this and especially when he was this pissed off, any words that came out of his lips would only be wrong and incur his wrath.

"He said, he would just walk his mate back to their bedroom, why is it taking him forever?! Gaahhh!" Lou was frustrated.

But then, when the door was opened and Cane finally graced him with his presence, the angry expression on Lou’s face disappeared in a matter of seconds, as he greeted the Alpha with the brightest smile on his lips.

"Alpha Cane! Finally you are here, I am so worried something happened to you because you took so long," Lou said smoothly, there was no trace of embarrassment at all, as if he meant what he said.

On the other hand, Sabian could only sigh helplessly, he knew his master’s antics very well.

"Come, sit, sit... so we can have a comfortable discussion." Lou acted as if he owned this place, yet instead of sitting on the sofa, Cane simply leaned his back against the wall.

"I can’t stay for long, I have promised my mate to have dinner together, so we better start the discussion already. What do you want to talk about regarding magical devices?"

It felt so familiar, as Cane had done this before. He made sure there was a time limit for their every conversation.

If you have promised to have dinner with your mate, you should have come earlier! Lou felt like his head would explode at any given moment.
