Chapter 21: SysDi 21: Watch Users’ Slayer
Once Evan and Iva finished off all of the slimes in the Simulation Zone, they were both ready for the real thing.
With Evan, he used his sticks to pierce the slimes getting closer to him. He had pointy sticks, which were much more efficient than finding out how to hit their little bump whenever the slimes move.
With Iva, it would go close, use the zoom and hit. Afterwards, Iva would just move away a little bit so it can rest, before joining in the fray again.
This way, both of them were able to finish all of the slimes in the corridor without much incident.
Panting and swearing, Evan finished the last slime. He wiped the sweat form his forehead. It seems like killing off this slimes were a bigger workout than when he is just training.

Evan glanced on his left after hearing the alerts, his eyes widening at the amount of panels he had open. The rewards part of every panel were what his eyes is focused on.

There is a faint glow at the side and Evan couldn’t take his eyes off of the Mana Points. He had done it. He finally has some mana.
It’s minuscule. Just one point. But he has it.
Evan felt like crying but he doesn’t.
He turns towards where the faint glow came from, only to find that there is no Iva.
’Back in again!’ Iva announced in his head. ’I feel stronger! What happened?’
Before Evan can reply, he heard the voice giggle. ’I level up with you. I knew you would but I didn’t know I would too~’
Evan could sense the excitement swell through him. Is it Iva’s or his? He’s not sure. Still, he finally has the means to use his Void Ability. He’s still not sure what it does, but he will soon enough.
’I finally got a bit of Mana.’He tells Iva.
Iva hums. ’Yeah, I can tell. You felt a little different before I got back in. Congratulations!’
Before Evan could thank it, there is a low rumbling from behind through the corridor and where they came from. He’s in the middle of the hallway that they are in.
’What was that?’ Evan asked.
’Evan.’ Iva’s tone was uncharacteristically serious out of nowhere. ’Listen to me. You have a Shadowling on your trail. Now that it got your scent, it’s not going to stop until it makes sure you meet your end! You have to try and find another way!’
The urgency in Iva’s echoing voice in his head made him freeze. Evan felt bone deep fear, the same one before they got down. He didn’t check if there was anyone or anything that was following him. He could’ve used detect.
Now, whatever this Shadowling is, it’s coming for him. He looks around and found that the bright red letters that didn’t allow him entry before is now gone. Evan could get there as quickly as he can. He’s level five. Surely, he can go far, right?
"Stay where you are, watch user." The deep voice was loud. "I can make sure your death will be painless."
"No thank you!" Evan replies, surprised that his voice held no tremor. "I won’t go down without fighting!"
With that, Evan began running through the corridor. After passing though, he saw two branching paths. Not even bothering to check what they were, Evan ran for his life without turning back.
’Iva, can you give me information about this Shadowlings?’ Evan asked in a panic, almost slipping before getting his bearings.
’They’re Watch Users’ Slayers.’ Iva replied. ’There’s not many of you before. Even more so nowadays. I think you can tell why.’
As if on cue, a loud crash echoed from behind Evan. The walls and the ground itself rumbles, but Evan didn’t let that stop him from running.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t run for long. Evan could see the dead end fast approaching in front of him and it is too late to turn back. He bit his lip, stopping a few feet away from the end, just enough that no one can tell if it really was the end of the corridor.
He breathes heavily, waiting for the Shadowling to appear. And it did.
It seems like it was a silhouette. The lights flickering close to it dies as it passed by, before the flames flicker back alive when it completely passed them by.
Because of this, Evan can’t tell what it looks like. Other than the fact that it looks like a Himealln like him except it’s facial features can’t be seen.
"Nowhere to run, water user." The Shadowling’s voice was a deep rumbling. "Surrender now and find a swift end."
Evan chuckles in nervousness. "You have me cornered and you still ask for permission." He took a deep breath. "What if I retaliate?"
The Shadowling raised a hand, it’s fingers long and with claws at the end showing a sharp point. "Prepare to die painfully."
Before the claw reached Evan, he raised his right hand, his open palm facing the Shadowling.
"Void."
That was the last thing he heard himself speak before everything went dark.
