Supremely Talented Tyrant -
Chapter 915 - 914: Get back there immediately!
"Woo woo woo..."
Just a minute after Old Man Zhang made the phone call, the sound of police sirens began to echo from the distant streets. Soon after, four or five police cars, sirens blaring, appeared on the block...
Huh? How did they get here so fast?
Upon hearing the sirens, Old Man Zhang's face revealed an expression of confusion. Normally, his buddies would need at least four minutes to get here from the station, but now it had only been a minute. That didn't make sense!
"The police have arrived..."
Upon hearing the sirens and seeing the speeding police cars barreling their way, the spectators by the roadside quickly cleared a path. Even the drivers of private vehicles stuck at the intersection hurriedly adjusted their positions, fearful of blocking the police cars.
Thus, the police cars faced no obstacles as they arrived at the intersection where Hao Jian and Old Man Zhang were facing off. The cars spread out and came to a steady stop.
"Click..."
Doors opened, and approximately twenty police officers emerged from the vehicles. Leading the group was a middle-aged man around forty years old. As soon as he exited the car, his eyes landed on Hao Jian, and his gaze brightened. He quickly walked toward Hao Jian...
Old Man Zhang also recognized this middle-aged man, and his expression slightly shifted as well. This man was a bigwig at the local police station and happened to be his brother's superior. But why was he here?
"Level 1 Police Commissioner, District Bureau Director, Jiang Jianyun. I greet you, sir!"
Next, the answer came to light for Old Man Zhang, as Jiang Jianyun approached Hao Jian, bent forward respectfully, and introduced himself.
"I don't recall inviting you guys over..."
The district police bureau director? Hao Jian had only ever dealt with Raojin District's police chief. As for Jiang Jianyun, he had never crossed paths with him. Hao Jian rubbed his nose slightly and smiled faintly. He hadn't called the cops, nor did these officers seem to be summoned by Old Man Zhang. That left only one explanation: a civilian had reported it.
Still, what puzzled him was how this man knew he was here?
"Haha, Mr. Hao Jian, our bureau has a rule that when someone reports an incident, we act in two steps. One: we assemble manpower. Two: we pull up the surveillance cameras nearby the caller's location. And during this review, we spotted your presence. That's how I knew you were here."
Though Director Jiang Jianyun was from a district-level bureau, he fully understood that Hao Jian was not someone to trifle with. Even the chief of the Hua City Police Department, his superior, would show respect and reverence upon meeting Hao Jian.
"Seems like you guys do have some tricks."
Upon hearing Jiang Jianyun's explanation, Hao Jian nodded knowingly, chuckled lightly, and then turned to look at the subtle change in Old Man Zhang's expression. Shrugging, he commented, "Why do I feel like when your brother arrives, he'll act just like your son did?"
"Kid... You better not get cocky!"
"Haha, I'm already cocky. What're you gonna do about it?!"
To be honest, toying with someone like this was incredibly entertaining. Hao Jian was thoroughly enjoying himself—this "playing dumb to catch the prey" strategy was sometimes hilariously satisfying.
"You..."
Seeing Hao Jian's smug expression—the very face he wanted to tear apart—Old Man Zhang could only extend a trembling finger to point at Hao Jian. He tried to say something threatening but found that the words simply wouldn't come...
Because the man standing before him, Jiang Jianyun, was the district police bureau director—his brother's boss. And now, even this high-positioned figure showed so much respect toward Hao Jian. When his brother arrived, would that change anything? It wouldn't...
Realizing this, Old Man Zhang's face brimmed with hatred but even more with frustration. Could it be that his dignity was truly irretrievable?!
"Sir, what's going on here?"
Following Hao Jian's gaze, Jiang Jianyun also noticed Old Man Zhang in the distance. His curiosity piqued, he turned to Hao Jian and asked for an explanation.
When he had hurried to the scene upon spotting Hao Jian on the surveillance footage, he hadn't paused to gather further details. All he knew was that someone reported an incident. But specifics weren't mentioned before the call was disconnected...
Now that he was on-site, he could only rely on Hao Jian for clarity. Regardless of what happened, Jiang Jianyun had already put himself squarely on Hao Jian's side, even if such behavior might have technically violated his procedural duties. After all, safeguarding his career came first.
Besides, judging by the situation, it didn't seem like Hao Jian had caused the trouble. Instead, it appeared to be the doing of the older man standing before him.
Jiang Jianyun's sharp eyes casually glanced at the Ferrari nearby. His attention quickly landed on the scratches along its body. Smirking slightly, he glanced at Old Man Zhang's pale face and guessed what had likely transpired.
"Nothing much. Just a lunatic tried to bite me and ended up getting beat up instead. Even then, he wouldn't give up, and I had no choice but to endure his nonsense..."
Hao Jian spread his hands as if in helplessness and gave Old Man Zhang a pointed look while shaking his head. Though his words carried undertones of exasperation, it was clear he was enjoying the drama. Jiang Jianyun immediately caught on that Hao Jian was deliberately messing with the man...
"Woo woo woo..."
Just as Jiang Jianyun was about to respond, another round of sirens suddenly rang out, drawing everyone's attention, including Hao Jian and Jiang Jianyun.
"How strange. I only brought this team with me..."
Looking toward the distance where three more police cars were arriving, Jiang Jianyun's face showed a spark of confusion. He recognized these cars as the last remaining vehicles from his station. As the director, he knew better.
The confusion spread amongst his subordinates and even the onlookers. Police arriving in successive waves was almost unheard of unless the first arrivals had requested reinforcements. Otherwise, such scenes weren't common in Hua City...
Damn it, damn it! Now my brother's getting dragged into this...
Among those present, only Hao Jian and Old Man Zhang understood the reason—it was because Old Man Zhang's brother had arrived!
"Haha, Director Jiang, sit back and enjoy the show!"
At this, Hao Jian simply reached out, patted Jiang Jianyun's shoulder, burst into laughter, and then smirked slyly at Old Man Zhang, teasing, "Looks like your backup's here. Shouldn't you call them over?"
"You..."
Hearing Hao Jian's arrogant remarks sent Old Man Zhang into a near meltdown. Trembling with anger, his fingers pointed at Hao Jian once again as he tried to spew threats. But facing his brother's boss standing alongside Hao Jian, what could he possibly say or do?
What now?!
At this moment, regret flooded Old Man Zhang's mind. Why didn't he heed his son's advice? Why did he insist on throwing a tantrum now of all times?
"Xu Ming!"
The three newly arrived police cars smoothly parked up ahead. An older man, with an age surpassing Jiang Jianyun's, stepped out, catching Jiang Jianyun by surprise.
"Boss, why are you here?"
Called Xu Ming, this man was none other than Old Man Zhang's brother. The moment he noticed Jiang Jianyun staring him down, he nervously ran over to his superior.
"That's what I'd like to ask you..."
Jiang Jianyun didn't need to guess; he instantly understood what was going on. Narrowing his eyes, his voice took on a threatening tone that instantly drained the color from Xu Ming's face.
To outsiders, their age difference made Xu Ming's submissive stance toward Jiang Jianyun seem odd. However, those familiar with the dynamics knew why: Jiang Jianyun was a district bureau director, whereas Xu Ming was merely a junior officer—a Level 1 policeman.
When it came to matters like this, rank overshadowed age.
"Boss, I… I was just here to handle this incident," Xu Ming stammered, swallowing nervously and glancing quickly at Old Man Zhang. His eyes revealed a helplessness. What he'd thought was a petty dispute had suddenly involved his superior and even seemed to favor the young man standing opposite his brother...
"Get back to the station immediately!"
Jiang Jianyun barked at Xu Ming in a cold tone, "I'll personally handle this issue. Next time I catch you meddling like this, pack your stuff and prepare to leave!"
Were it any ordinary case, Jiang Jianyun might've turned a blind eye. But since Hao Jian was involved, he had to intervene directly.
First, this was a golden opportunity to build rapport with Hao Jian. Second, he needed to deliver results before Hao Jian's impatience flared.
"Sir! Understood!"
Xu Ming dared not argue, quickly ushering his men back into the police cars and speeding away from the scene...
"Mr. Hao Jian, what's your next move?"
The spectacle seemed to have reached its climax. Glancing at Old Man Zhang, Hao Jian cracked a faint smile. Seeing the man's defeated, despairing look gave him a sense of closure. It was clear this guy was out of options.
With no tactics left to exploit, Old Man Zhang had lost his appeal for amusement. Once it stopped being fun, Hao Jian felt no reason to linger.
Besides, he had to dash off and pick up Tongtong from school...
"Rough him up a little, then lock him up at the station for a while. Let's see if he learns anything from this and dares to act like this again in the future."
"Understood!"
As soon as Hao Jian issued his command, Old Man Zhang turned pale as a sheet, his lips trembling uncontrollably...
Without sparing him a second glance, Jiang Jianyun decisively nodded, motioning to his officers to take action...
