Chapter 1938 - 1936: The Second Layer

Chapter 1938: Chapter 1936: The Second Layer

On the journey from the first to the second layer, spanning hundreds of miles, Peter Brown felt that nearly half or more of the people had died.

Soon, Peter arrived at the entry point to the second layer.

Upon reaching this place, he observed that not too many people had made it here; unexpectedly, Peter saw Philip Williams with his group, who had not entered yet.

When Peter approached Philip Williams, he gestured, and in response, Williams and his men quickly protected Peter within their midst.

"Your Highness, you’ve arrived as well?"

"Why haven’t you entered yet?"

"Your Highness, the second layer is no longer the place we knew. It was supposed to be the layer of fierce beasts which are not of a very high rank. However, we discovered upon arriving that the fierce beasts here have mutated. It’s understood that this area occasionally emits some holy energy. Although not much, it’s something that allows beasts to quickly advance in rank. Furthermore, it’s said that a kind of Beast Fruit has appeared here. These fruits have been mutated by holy energy. Beasts that consume them can quickly advance by tens of star levels. Many people have died after entering. We entered earlier and lost half of our men."

Only then did Peter realize that Philip Williams had indeed lost half of his group.

Thinking about how low-ranked the personnel Philip Williams brought were and how difficult it was for them to reach here, Peter sighed quietly to himself. He estimated that based on their Power, probably all would die at the Third Level.

After a moment, Peter said, "Forget it, your ranks are too low and not suitable for entry. The benefits are significant, but you stand little chance of obtaining them!"

Philip Williams felt rather awkward. They wouldn’t have been able to make it this far without the formation and Energy Bomb techniques taught to them by Peter Brown. They were also aware of the great dangers of entering.

"Your Highness, the inner mechanism here is extremely dangerous. The key issue is that we don’t know what the fierce beasts have mutated into. If the peripheral areas are already like this, I believe the core areas will be even more formidable."

"How is the situation with Xandros Walker and his group?"

"They entered from a different area, and we are still in contact with them. From what we know, they too have found it difficult to advance past the second layer."

"Notify them, and say that it’s by my command, starting now, they must all retreat. You too must go back. After returning, manage the country well until I return."

"Your Highness, it’s too dangerous. You shouldn’t enter either!"

With a smile, Peter said, "This place won’t stump me."

Philip Williams wanted to say something more but didn’t dare to continue. The Purple Origin Mountain Range belongs to the Royal Family; if Peter Brown didn’t dare enter, leaving it unattended would be an issue. Yet, allowing Peter to enter was something he really couldn’t be at peace with.

"It’s decided then. After I enter, if something doesn’t feel right, I’ll exit on my own."

Hearing Peter state so firmly, Philip Williams nodded and said, "Your Highness, you must prioritize your safety and avoid unnecessary risks."

"What’s the situation now? Can the various powers enter?" Peter looked towards the front.

"Your Highness, don’t know where they’ve come from, but many experts have appeared, even some that are over 100-star-level. I suspect that major sects have already sent people here. The environment inside the Purple Origin Mountain Range is incredibly dangerous."

Peter had long noticed the situation here; the experts had clearly already entered. Yet even among the crowd here, many were Above forty-star rank.

"Your Highness, I believe from the second layer onwards, the cultivators within are basically those Above forty-star rank. You must truly be careful."

"That’s enough, you all leave now, I too must depart."

As he spoke, Peter flicked his hand and a Fog talisman was released.

With the deployment of the Fog talisman, a thick mist quickly enveloped the area.

Seizing this opportunity, Peter quickly separated from Philip Williams and his men. He changed his attire as fast as possible, and as the Disguise Technique was activated, he took on the appearance of another cultivator, looking quite ordinary.

Of course, Peter had already merged with the crowd and entered into the second layer’s region.

Philip Williams and his group should heed his orders to leave. Now, inside the Purple Origin Mountain Range, there was no longer any presence of his power!

From this incident, Peter further realized how weak the power in his hands was. If he had possessed Great Power, there would have been no need for such caution.

After all, his underlying strength was still too poor!

Of course, Peter didn’t dwell on this matter excessively. Since it was already like this, whether he had companions or not, everything would still depend on himself.

After entering this region, indeed, Peter found that a Great Power was forming around him, the energy in his surroundings undergoing transformations. If there had been other people around him, they surely would have experienced repulsion and displacement.

Now Peter also recalled a conversation between two women; in such a region, it was impossible for people to stick closely together.

Suddenly, when a shock of alarm surged within Peter’s heart, he noticed an attack’s energy erupting from the ground. With a quick movement, he left his original location. Looking back at where he had been standing, energy surged forth.

Before Peter could stop, another burst came his way, and he had to keep moving.

Not only that, but under the successive washes of energy, Peter found himself entering a vast and dense forest.

No wonder no one could stay close together; Peter realized he had been pushed far away.

Having entered the forest, though his eyes could still clearly see everything around him, the forest was still shrouded in darkness.

Perhaps this forest was even more dangerous, likely teeming with a significant number of fierce beasts.

The deeper he ventured, the more Peter sensed the peril, with the sounds of fierce beasts emanating from all directions.

Probably, most people wouldn’t even be able to find their way after entering this forest!

Peter suddenly had this speculation.

However big the forest, it had little impact on Peter. He took out a specially Refining Compass from the Ring and infused it with a strand of energy, instantly determining the direction.

After checking the orientation on the Compass, Peter cautiously proceeded forward.

Of course, there was no need to use the Invisibility Talisman now, but the defense talisman needed to be deployed; Peter didn’t know how many mutant fierce beasts there actually were in this region.
