Chapter 1822: Chapter 1820: Someone Really is Watching
Ever since taking Wavehider City from a fragment of the Blue Star Kingdom, the troops had spread out in various attacks, and this region of the realm had calmed down without the presence of chaotic armies.
Peter Brown could say that this was his first solo journey upon the land of the Divine Realm.
Looking at the land that appeared as a starry sky, Peter really couldn’t make sense of it. If it were viewed from the Lower Realm, everything here would be a starry expanse, each city a Star Planet. However, after arriving here, Peter realized that it wasn’t such a simple understanding.
Stepping on the starry ground, Peter distinctly felt as though he was stepping on solid earth.
Gazing into the distance, Peter was filled with admiration. If this was the case, then the entire universe was one vast land, immeasurably large—no wonder even the greatest masters of the Divine Race couldn’t grasp its true extent.
What perplexed Peter the most was this piece of land. It appeared to be soil, yet at first glance it seemed to be a starry sky, which, on top of that, was teeming with various plant life.
Picking a flower, Peter observed it for a while and clearly detected that it was filled with a special kind of energy.
So, Divine Grass and the like actually grew here!
That’s when Peter thought of the Divine Grass he had seen before.
The entire method of Refining was utterly different!
With these discoveries in hand, Peter contemplated what knowledge might be imparted within the Divine Sects, perhaps including Alchemy and artifact refining.
Peter even wondered if they had formations. If there were formations, then those he knew would seem like child’s play to them.
At that moment, Peter suddenly harbored the thought of joining a Divine Sect, contemplating that in order to compete for sainthood, he likely would need to enter a Sect.
However, Peter knew he currently lacked the qualifications; he hadn’t been recruited as a child and now could only wait until he achieved a ten-star Rank to possibly enter.
Ten stars?
Thinking of his current five-star Rank, Peter knew a key aim of his venture into King’s City was to find the opportunity to improve upon the Royal Body Tempering Secret.
Finding a secluded spot in No Man’s Land, Peter carefully observed his surroundings for a few hours before starting his disguise.
This time, Peter changed his appearance to that of Prince Harvey and then back to his own, as there were few who knew of his situation. Prior to his arrival, he even borrowed Prince Harvey’s influence to procure a business pass for King’s City, ensuring that he wouldn’t have to worry about being conscripted into the army.
Yet, Peter didn’t rush on his way; instead, he hid and watched the flow of personnel coming from Wavehider City.
At first glance, he saw many Divine Beings among them, business people, with various Beast Carts moving back and forth on roads leading to different places.
The Land of the Divine Realm was vast; Beast Carts were the main mode of transport, with many of the Divine Race doing business in different places.
Peter had also learned a bit about their situation; Divine Beings needed to eat as well and didn’t abstain from food as he had originally thought. While they might not get sick, they did have a growing requirement for the energy provided by Divine Stones.
Ordinary members of the Divine Race, lacking an Energy Gathering Array like Peter’s, mainly relied on Divine Stones to replenish their energy, in addition to which they had an important task: Star fusion. A person had to merge with at least five stars in their lifetime. If they couldn’t, they would suffer from Divine Being exhaustion. While this wouldn’t be deadly, those who couldn’t merge with a star every thousand years would simply fall, making acquiring vast sums of money to purchase Life Planets a major life goal for everyone. For some who cultivated their own Life Planets, the costs were equally astronomical.
All of this was unfamiliar to Peter, who realized he only understood a fraction of the Divine Realm’s matters. He would need to learn more gradually.
Regardless, being a business person among the Divine Race was quite common, as was employment. They too required Divine Stones.
In this process, acquiring Divine Grass and resources became an important matter. They may not need these items, but Sects did, and obtaining precious Divine Grass often solved the issue of sourcing a Life Planet.
As Peter pondered these matters, he noticed the Beast Car carrying the Substitute emerging from Wavehider City. Austin Hall’s procession was quite ostentatious, escorted by a Guard Team numbering in the thousands.
Seeing the Beast-drawn Carriage surrounded at the center, Peter sighed inwardly—these thousands of individuals were indeed a dedicated Guard Team, and few would likely return from this mission.
It was a necessary evil; without such measures, he could not extricate himself.
After the guard convoy quickly departed, Peter covertly scanned for any following personnel.
An hour later, Peter observed numerous groups of individuals closely pursuing the convoy.
He counted at least eleven teams of pursuers!
Sighting members with five or six-star Ranks among them, Peter felt pessimistic about the Substitute’s escort’s chances; trouble seemed inevitable.
After some thought, Peter switched directions. Although it was a detour, he felt that route might be better and safer.
At that moment, Peter adopted the guise of a typical Divine Race businessman.
Here, business people of the Divine Race didn’t carry loads of goods—after all, everyone had Rings and other such items for that purpose.
Peter was quite informed about the life of a business person; the Divine Race had needs for food, shelter, transportation, and most importantly, supplementing their energy, which is what their business focused on.
A Five Star Rank felt considerably weaker.
Only after Peter actually started walking the merchant’s path did he realize how inadequate his five-star cultivation truly was.
Fortunately, he had top-quality divine stones inscribed with Energy Bombs, which, endowed with such items, provided Peter with a measure of self-defense; otherwise, he dared not venture carelessly onto these celestial paths.
With each stride, the distance traversed was vast. Peter had yet to purchase a Beast Horse, presenting himself as a low-tier Divine Being, knowing this would be safer. Of course, after passing through Wavehider City, Peter would need to change this mode of travel.
