Chapter 1821: Chapter 1819: A Dangerous Trip to King’s City
Peter Brown suddenly felt he was in extreme danger.
Had he not heard Philip William’s words, Peter truly wouldn’t have worried about so much. Now, having heard what Philip Williams had said, Peter realized just how dangerous his situation was.
To say nothing of the various powers that might plot against him, consider the formation tools and energy bombs he had suddenly produced. These items might not be anything remarkable to a Cultivation Sect, only posing a threat to those under ten stars, but what would everyone else think?
During such a sensitive time, people might truly start to believe he was set to take over the Emperor’s position. If that were the case, would any of the princes let him off the hook?
Thinking about the princes’ shift from covert competition to open conflict, Peter suspected his trip to King’s City would be anything but safe.
He learned from the Royal Records that the current Emperor still had about twenty sons. Among these, whether Prince Frank or Prince Edward, there were competitive princes with considerable power. Could Prince Samuel really rest easy regarding himself?
Shaking his head, Peter guessed that everyone would prefer he did not make it to King’s City. Assassins would undoubtedly target him along the way.
So should he abandon his trip to King’s City?
For the first time, Peter had doubts about his journey.
Hide among the Army?
Considering his highest-ranking subordinates were only at Seven Stars, Peter dismissed the idea of concealing himself within the military.
Despite having an 80,000-dollar strong Army, the key issue was that the Army was not in great shape; it lacked top experts. If the enemy sent a Ten-Star Level Assassin, he would have no choice but death.
Peter believed that whether it was Prince Samuel or Prince Frank, they were certain to have Ten Star Experts under their command.
And what about those royal uncles and other members of the family? Didn’t they have any background?
The more he thought about it, the more his scalp tingled.
Staying with the Army was the unsafe choice; he must leave as soon as possible!
Now, Peter had come to a clear conclusion. He could only look for opportunities after leaving.
Leave with the large procession?
Peter immediately scrapped that plan. If he truly left with the large group, that would be a death wish. The enemy would need only send a few Ten Star Experts to assassinate him, and before he could set up his formation or use an energy bomb, he might already be dead.
Fortunately, no one knew of his hidden measures!
Peter’s eyes brightened. There lay a strategy he could use on his way to King’s City.
After pondering the situation, Peter called in Philip Williams again.
"Your Highness, I’ve thought about it, and the journey ahead is indeed fraught with crises. If possible, it’s best not to go."
"Do you think the Celestial Swan Gate will come to help me?" Peter then looked at Philip Williams with this inquiry.
After some thought, Philip Williams replied, "I know a bit about the Celestial Swan Gate. Their Sect is in decline, lacking substantial power, and paling in comparison to the Three Great God Orders."
Peter was contemplating how the Celestial Swan Gate had come to favor him.
Thankfully, Philip Williams was a devoted supporter of Prince Harvey, and he volunteered, "Your Highness, you should know that the Celestial Swan Gate’s support for you is actually at the behest of Grandeur Gate."
"Analyze it for me."
"The Divine Sects all have their means of engaging with the secular world, and they get approved by the Royal Family. A prince with good prospects and potential is naturally taken by the Three Great God Orders," Philip Williams began. "They just use those taken into their Sect to forge secular connections, or to maintain some contact with the world, asking them to handle their affairs. For princes not favored by the Three Great God Orders, their only choice is to join a smaller Divine Sect, as these also need people to maintain their secular channels. Your Highness entered the Celestial Swan Gate under such circumstances. Ever since you became the prince they supported, they haven’t actually provided much support; instead, they continually had Your Highness do tasks for them, helping them gather various resources. With the power they currently have, how could they possibly offend the Three Great God Orders?"
Philip Williams then expressed a concern, "Your Highness, I’m also worried that the Celestial Swan Gate might suspect you’ve aligned with another power. If they ask you to hand over the formation tools and energy bombs, your strength will be diminished, and our Wind and Thunder Army will lose its offensive capability."
Peter thought about the possibility and shook his head in secret. If that happened, not only would the Celestial Swan Gate not be able to help him, but their mistrust could also arise from anything he revealed.
The more this seemed likely, the more Peter felt the need to go to King’s City to see the situation for himself.
"Philip," Peter decided, "I plan to disguise myself as a commoner and leave on my own. Don’t leave Wavehider City; just keep this place secure for me."
Upon hearing this, Philip Williams understood Peter’s plan, although he voiced his worry, "Your Highness, it’s even more dangerous for you to do this."
After pausing, his expression changed as he added, "Sending more men won’t help either!"
"Find someone who looks somewhat like me to act as my substitute, and have the main company escort them. I will go alone," Peter decided. That was the only option, otherwise, he had no chance of reaching King’s City alive.
"Your Highness must take extra care," said Philip Williams, who now had no better solution.
"I’ll have Xandros Walker and the others take charge in the military. You just need to work with them and keep an eye on our forces."
After making the decision, Peter secretly gathered the key figures and then proceeded to share his analysis and thoughts with everyone.
When Caleb Henderson and the others learned of the situation, they were speechless. They also realized that Prince Harvey, being Peter, really had to proceed; otherwise, he was bound to be attacked by all sides.
"If Your Highness has decided," Austin Hall remarked, "take care on your way. We’ve made maps of the entire route which you can use for your journey."
While everyone began preparing in secret, Peter covertly disguised himself and left Wavehider City. He planned to go ahead alone—the substitute that followed would serve to divert the enemy.
After leaving Wavehider City, Peter, disguised as a commoner of the Divine Race, set off swiftly toward King’s City.
