Chapter 1664: Chapter 1662: Gaining Support
Tobia Armstrong had not expected that a seemingly hopeless project could produce something, and he had a good impression of Peter Brown, whom he had promoted. He was curious to hear exactly how he had managed it.
"Mr. Armstrong, the investment in the Riverwater Valley project will actually reach one hundred million," Peter said.
As soon as Peter spoke, Tobia Armstrong’s gaze sharpened. He had just received this news, and it was said that under the operation of various powers in the province, the project would further expand to eventually reach an investment of one hundred million.
However, he had just learned about this himself and had not expected Peter to already know. This showed that Peter had done his homework, and he had done it thoroughly.
But wait!
Tobia Armstrong remembered that he had just gotten the news from other leaders and that after Peter had been assigned to handle this project, he hadn’t taken any proactive steps but simply arrived and left work on time every day. So where did he get this information?
At that moment, Tobia Armstrong considered the rumors that Peter had strong backing.
From this incident, it seemed likely that Peter indeed had some powerful support.
As his fingers tapped lightly on the desk, Tobia Armstrong had more thoughts. If that was the case, then Peter was indeed a powerful figure.
"Mr. Armstrong, currently there are two other powers more competitive than us in this project. The additional funding for the project is also related to them, especially Madison O’Donnell," Peter explained.
Peter then detailed Madison O’Donnell and Huxley Taylor’s situations, along with the various connections behind them, to Tobia Armstrong.
The more Tobia Armstrong listened, the more shocked he became. Peter had uncovered all these hidden connections, indicating the great power behind him.
What particularly astonished Tobia Armstrong was Peter’s description of the backing behind the two individuals, which was not something ordinary people could clarify.
What exactly was Peter’s background?
At that moment, Tobia Armstrong pondered the situation deeply.
"So, are you saying we don’t have much hope?"
When Tobia Armstrong inadvertently made a comment, Peter responded, "Mr. Armstrong, I’m not saying we have no hope; rather, we still have hope."
"What? There’s still hope?"
"Yes, we still have hope!"
"Explain."
Although Tobia Armstrong wasn’t particularly concerned about a hundred million project, he would indeed like to secure it. He wanted to see what strategies Peter had and whether Peter could deliver on critical matters.
"Mr. Armstrong, if something happens to those two parties, we naturally have hope," Peter suggested.
Tobia Armstrong was stunned by Peter’s plan and shook his head, saying, "If it’s as you say, how could they possibly run into trouble?"
"Mr. Armstrong, a key reason I’m having this phone call with you is to ask you to make some moves to ensure that we can successfully step up if both parties stumble," Peter explained.
Tobia Armstrong was shocked again and had no idea what other strategies Peter might have.
However, after thinking for a moment, Tobia Armstrong felt this was somewhat achievable—ensuring the third position was within their grasp. As long as the relationships were in place, there wouldn’t be any problems.
"We can achieve this. The key is indeed whether those two parties lose their competitive edge," Armstrong noted.
"Mr. Armstrong, please have the Group assist in securing the third position. We will handle the rest," Peter requested.
Tobia Armstrong, uncertain of what else Peter might have planned, slightly nodded and said, "Peter, as long as those two parties lose their competitive power, whether or not our company secures it will be credited to your efforts."
Peter privately nodded, Tobia Armstrong hadn’t guaranteed success, but in his words, Peter knew that his efforts were acknowledged and counted as his utmost.
"Mr. Armstrong, then I won’t trouble you further. We will start taking action now."
After hanging up the phone, Tobia Armstrong sat deep in thought, struggling to understand what tactics Peter might employ. After hearing about the power dynamics from Peter, Tobia Armstrong was almost certain that the project had no hope.
However, what puzzled Tobia Armstrong was that despite knowing the challenges, Peter still said the project had hope. What exactly was he basing this confidence on?
Considering that Peter might have unseen support, Tobia Armstrong felt relieved, thinking perhaps the people behind Peter preferred not to show themselves.
Regardless, he wanted to see what Peter could truly do.
After pondering for a while, Tobia Armstrong started making a series of phone calls. Since Peter had made the request, he would do his best to ensure the company secured the third position. If the other two companies failed, they could secure it.
Still, Tobia Armstrong did not hold much hope while doing this.
After hanging up the phone, Peter too exhaled a sigh of relief. Everything had been communicated to Tobia Armstrong, and there was no turning back now. It was time for him to prove himself. If he succeeded, all would be well; if he failed, he would lose face. He had to ensure the success of this endeavor.
What should he do first?
Peter sat and refined his original plans.
The greatest difficulty of this project was that it had to be done without exposing himself, making everyone think it was just good luck that secured the project.
His first move was to instigate conflict between the two parties through certain events. As long as they started fighting, things would develop in the desired direction.
Thinking this, Peter began typing relentlessly on his computer, sending emails to various addresses.
His goal was to disrupt their balance and incite them to fight—a strategy that began with causing friction between Madison O’Donnell and Huxley Taylor and gradually escalating to their core allies.
After setting all these events in motion, Peter knew the next steps involved visiting and networking in the conventional manner, tasks which were not difficult for him.
"Leigh, starting today, we need to visit the related leaders one by one. No matter how things turn out, we still need to do our job well," Peter said.
After calling Leigh over, Peter took him from the county to the city to meet each person in turn.
Salem Hill, unaware of Peter’s many strategies, expressed concern: "Manager Walter, I know this project involves many variables; it’s quite challenging!"
"Let’s go. Just follow my lead. By the way, Reid, come along too. It’s better to have another woman with us."
