Chapter 1625: Chapter 1624: Taking the Examination

Several days had gone by without Rylan Williams showing up to work at the branch office, yet Peter Brown still continued to call daily to report on the company’s situation, making Rylan Williams even more frustrated and feeling powerless.

Sometimes Peter would even make these calls in the office, in front of everyone.

As Peter kept in constant contact with Rylan Williams and nobody saw any dissatisfaction from Rylan Williams towards Peter, the people in the branch office gradually got used to the idea of Peter having a good relationship with Rylan Williams.

Of course, when no one was around, Peter was still in constant contact with Henry Ford, reporting the company’s situation to him as well and even sharing the details of his reports to Rylan Williams.

Henry Ford actually supported this, saying since he couldn’t look after Peter anymore, it was good to have Rylan Williams watching out for him.

The Constructor Exam was about to begin, and there were eleven employees from their branch office required to take the test. If they passed, the company would cover all the expenses; if they failed, the individuals had to pay for half of it.

Everyone gathered at the branch office, and the company provided two vans. Peter also drove his own car, and they all set off for the provincial city.

In Peter’s car were two women from the Engineering Management Department, both married and considered young, as well as a new female college student from the team. On the way, as they chatted and joked, they couldn’t make sense of why Peter, with all his money, was still squatting in that branch office.

"Director Wang, if I had as much money as you, I would’ve gone home a long time ago. I could live without doing any job," said a woman named Zora Grant to Peter.

Elizabeth Jackson added, "Exactly, with just this monthly salary, I really don’t get what you’re thinking."

The new female college student, Stacy Mills, laughed and said, "Families like Director Wang don’t just look at this small salary. With Director Wang’s ability to speak three foreign languages and be computer literate, his next step will definitely be towards becoming a project manager. Once you become a project manager, the annual salary wouldn’t be a small sum of money."

"Our little beauty understands Director Wang, eh? Director Wang, how about you talk a bit with our little beauty Stacy?"

Immediately, Stacy Mills blushed and said, "Amber, what are you guys saying!"

Throughout the journey, the car was filled with laughter, and Peter’s mood wasn’t too bad either. He asked, "Do any of you feel confident?"

Seeing that Peter didn’t continue the topic regarding Stacy Mills, everyone turned their attention to the examination.

Elizabeth Jackson responded, "Do you think the constructor exam is that easy? Every year, only a few people pass it. Otherwise, why would the company be so generous to let everyone take the exam?"

Zora Grant said bitterly with a smile, "We have old and young family members to care for; where do we have the time to study? What about the two of you, do you have any confidence?"

Stacy Mills said, "I don’t know, I’ve studied for a while. Let’s give it a try."

Peter could tell that not many of those from the branch office who were going to take the exam were confident.

"I heard that there are over a hundred people taking the exam this time, the company has indeed made up its mind to get a few licenses out there."

"It’s because each branch office is funding it. Just watch, I bet only a couple of people will get licensed this time."

As they talked, the cars arrived at the headquarters, and as everyone got out of the vehicle, they greeted acquaintances they spotted there.

Peter, whose profession was not related to the exam, didn’t have many acquaintances and, after parking the car, headed towards the Chief Engineer’s office.

Entering the Chief Engineer’s office, Peter found that there were also quite a number of people sitting there, chatting, and joking around.

When Henry Ford saw Peter, he smiled and asked, "How are things? Is there a chance?"

"I’ll know after I take the exam."

Henry Ford laughed and said, "We’ll have this kind of examination every year. This time it’s a bit larger in scale. It’s good for you to get familiar with it, to lay the foundation for your certification in the next year or two." Despite inviting Peter to take the exam, Henry Ford didn’t place too much hope on it.

Soon everyone recognized Peter, and one after another, they shook his hand and greeted him.

Peter himself didn’t realize he had already made a name for himself in the company, going from a Farmer Temporary Worker to the head of the Integrated Office in a very short time.

Henry Ford smiled and said, "Little Peter is someone with real talent. Speaking three foreign languages is no joke; even if he weren’t with our company, he would have a great future."

Peter humbly said, "I’m still learning and hope to receive more guidance from all the seniors here."

The crowd immediately burst into laughter, appreciating Peter’s attitude.

"Let’s not engage in any activities today, and skip that ’healthcare’ stuff you guys do. Don’t end up in the police station and affect tomorrow’s exam," the Chief Engineer said with a laugh.

Laughter erupted once again.

After speaking, the Chief Engineer added, "The leaders are taking this exam very seriously. Mr. Armstrong specifically asked about it. Over a hundred people have been brought in for the exam. Our Group has made a determined effort, and it has cost a good deal of money. The Group has been given the green light, and some say since our relationship has reached this level, why not just turn a blind eye and issue licenses easily?"

The crowd playfully exclaimed, "Yeah, can we just casually take the exam and get certified?"

The Chief Engineer shook his head and said, "The constructor exam is strictly managed. Even though a special exam session has been arranged for us, there won’t be any leniency. The higher-ups are also paying close attention to this. If someone cheats, the whole company’s cheating will lead to the Group’s management being dealt with. So, don’t harbor any illusions, if you cheat, I assure you, the Group has promised to immediately and unmercifully dismiss you."

"Is it that serious?" a middle-aged man asked, surprised.

"That’s right, you’d better score zero than cheat. This is no joking matter; everyone should go down and spread the word."

In truth, everybody had already been notified earlier; it was just being reiterated again now.

Peter could see everyone’s faces turning grim once more.

Soon, one by one, people began to leave, having obtained the information they needed and realizing there was no chance for an easy certification.

As Peter was also about to leave, Henry Ford said, "Little Peter, you heard the situation just now. Everyone thought that since it was a special session exclusively for our Group, the exam might be more relaxed, but it turns out that’s not the case. I originally wanted you to easily get a license, but didn’t expect it to be so strict. Just do your best and see what score you can get."

Peter laughed and said, "No problem, I’ll do my best."

"Good, that’s the right attitude." Henry Ford patted Peter’s shoulder and escorted him to the door.
