Chapter 1624: Chapter 1623: No Trouble for Now
After listening to the conversation between the siblings, Peter Brown truly breathed a sigh of relief here. He was afraid that this family would crazily target him, but luckily their extensive business held them back from engaging in a lose-lose battle with him. This matter was developing in the direction he wanted.
From the dialogue between the two siblings, Peter also detected a situation: the whole matter had apparently not yet reached the core circle of the Carter Clan, and was only being handled between the siblings. This was indeed a good thing.
After half an hour, Peter finally received a call from Rylan Williams.
Though he fully understood the content of the siblings’ discussions, he now pretended to be clueless and said, "Rylan, what exactly is the situation?"
At this moment, Rylan was truly frustrated to death. Although he knew that the other party was pretending, he had no choice but to pretend too. He chuckled dryly and said, "It’s nothing serious. That person is your friend, right? Tell him that whatever was the situation before, it will remain the same moving forward. We won’t do anything to harm him."
"Oh, is that so? I’ll make a call to him in a while to explain the situation."
"Hmm, Peter, I’m really relying on you here. Let’s not ruin our relationship."
At this point, he added, "Dylan Johnson is pretty efficient. He’s handled all the formalities, and I hear you’ve rented a room across the street. He’ll bring you the documents shortly, and you can just complete a transfer process. Don’t worry, the car is still 90% new, no problems at all."
Peter then humbly said, "It’s only because of Rylan’s influence, a small favor and I’m getting a car for free. I really feel embarrassed."
"It’s alright, it’s just a car."
After hanging up the phone, Peter sat there and pondered the entire situation once again.
It must be said that the Carter Clan was a large and influential family; they truly did not want to end up in a mutually destructive situation with him, at least not in the foreseeable future.
Peter knew in his heart that for him, the Carter Clan was like a bomb, which could detonate at any moment. However, he had not yet thought of a better way to deal with them.
He could only plan for the long term!
After hanging up the phone, Peter listened to another round of phone conversations between the siblings. Of course, he was also cautious that they might intentionally say some false things for him to hear. Whatever they said, Peter meticulously analyzed it.
Another hour passed, and after analyzing their conversation, Peter felt somewhat calmer. The matter was being handled solely by these two siblings; their elders were unaware of it. Therefore, at this moment, he was safe, and there being no chance of anyone within the family taking advantage of the situation.
Just then, Peter heard the doorbell ring.
Upon opening it, a young man walked in.
"You are Mr. Wang, right?"
"Yes, I’m Peter Brown."
"Mr. Wang, hello, I’m here on behalf of Mr. Johnson to handle the formalities. This is the paperwork for the car, you just need to sign it. Once you’ve signed, the car will completely belong to you."
After looking over the documents for a while, Peter did not find any traps or tricks, subtly nodded, and signed his name on them.
"This is a spare key, and I’ve handed all the documents over to you. From now on, the car is entirely yours. Oh, and the car has been thoroughly cleaned, you can use it with confidence."
Peter smiled and said, "Thank you for the trouble."
After sending the young man away, and looking at the various processed documents on the table, Peter knew that from now on, the car truly belonged to him.
Thinking about how the other party specifically emphasized that it had been thoroughly cleaned, Peter understood that this time they really hadn’t tampered with anything.
Alright, from now on, the relationship between himself and Rylan Williams would be maintained. He wouldn’t throw any curveballs at him, nor would he favor him much; his position as office director could still sit secured for a while.
Initially, Peter had thought about visiting Reid Nelson, but with the day’s events, nearly a whole day had passed.
Leaving the house, Peter headed towards the underground parking garage.
He instantly saw the freshly washed car, just as Rylan had mentioned, probably purchased not long ago and indeed 90% new.
Upon inspecting the car closely, Peter realized that Rylan’s mention of a million dollars was also nearly accurate, if not slightly more.
However, Peter was not someone who easily trusted people. He inspected the whole car from top to bottom, and did not find any apparent issues.
Considering Peter was immensely skilled in detection, he had many means at his disposal, and he didn’t find any issues now either.
No matter, the Carter Clan probably wouldn’t cause trouble with this car, so there was no need to worry.
Starting the car, Peter drove away.
Just as Peter drove off, from a window, Rylan Williams watched the departing car with a dark expression.
Just as Peter had guessed, this time Rylan truly hadn’t done anything. He also worried that if something happened to Peter, it could potentially harm the Carter Clan.
Picking up his cell phone, Rylan dialed his elder sister’s number, his mood foul as he said, "Sister, every time I see that guy, I’m tempted to beat him up. They send me to this branch office to watch him every day, I really can’t stand it!"
"David," said his sister, "taking advantage of your injury, I’ll speak to the Master to transfer you away from that company. I feel like when it comes to some matters, we have to be wary. Ever since you were at that branch office, nothing has gone smoothly. Staying there won’t get you anywhere."
"Alright, let’s transfer then. I’ll leave first and cool down. After we’ve smoothed out those issues, watch me deal with him."
"Okay, don’t go back to the office for now. There’s no point in going anyway. I’ll talk to the Master about it; there shouldn’t be a problem."
Rylan cursed again, and as a young master, he had never felt such frustration before, a feeling of being powerless.
After downing a big sip of tea, Rylan thought about venting his frustrations with a woman, but then realizing he was currently impotent, his hatred for Peter intensified.
Moving along, Peter drove towards County Town, unconcerned with what Rylan was thinking. At least for now, the Carter Clan wouldn’t trouble him.
Peter believed he had ways to neutralize the threat of the Carter Clan shortly. Once the threat from the Carter Clan was gone, he would have room to grow.
