Chapter 1590: Chapter 1589 Talent_1

The next day at work, the news that Edward Ford had agreed to let Peter Brown buy a terraced villa spread, and people were saying all sorts of things.

"Peter, the problem is a bit complicated. A lot of people below have opinions about Edward Ford agreeing to the preferential house purchase, saying all sorts of odd things." Ivy Cooper actually came running over and whispered this to Peter Brown.

When Peter Brown turned around, he caught a glimpse of the snowy white patch beneath Ivy’s floral shirt, which made his eyes heat up.

"Is it mainly because they say I’m not a key employee, nor a talent?"

"Yes, and don’t get upset when I say this, but people think you’re a migrant worker who became a full employee without making any substantial contributions to the company. They say you got promoted to vice director because you’re related to Edward Ford, or something. There’s all manner of weird talk."

With a smile, Peter Brown said, "I saw the document, abilities beyond the ordinary can be considered talent, right?"

Reid Nelson added from the side, "Still, you need something to show the superiors, you should think about what special abilities you really have."

Glancing at the two women, Peter Brown said, "Don’t worry, it’s not a big deal, at worst I just won’t buy it."

"This matter is no longer about whether you buy it or not, it’s about Edward Ford’s credibility. I didn’t expect this to blow up like this, and I suppose Edward Ford didn’t either."

Ivy Cooper said, "In the past, with the support from the higher-ups, people didn’t dare say much, but now, it’s a bit more complicated."

Everyone understood the situation Ivy Cooper was referring to. Even Reid Nelson’s face suddenly showed worry, considering that the issue might even have been stirred up by someone with an agenda.

"Peter Brown, come here for a second." Just then, they heard Henry Ford calling from his office.

"Edward Ford, you wanted to see me?"

"Was what you said yesterday true?"

"It was true."

"Okay, then, let’s have a few exchanges and see," Henry Ford said, prompting a few sentences.

Peter Brown quickly realized the other party only knew a few phrases and that they were far from standard.

Without any hesitation, Peter Brown rapidly responded in kind.

Henry Ford was amazed at Peter’s fluent speaking, "Where did you learn all this from?"

"Self-taught, as for speaking, I learned it from the computer."

"And Japanese as well?"

"No problem, I actually speak German too."

Henry Ford laughed heartily, "You young man!"

After thinking for a while, Henry Ford’s eyes lit up and he nodded slightly, "Since that’s the case, then we can certainly maneuver this to our advantage."

Peter Brown didn’t know how Henry Ford planned to maneuver, so he just looked at Henry Ford.

"Come with me."

After leaving with Peter Brown, Henry Ford drove away.

The people in the office all saw Peter Brown leave with Henry Ford, and various rumors emerged once again. This time, everyone felt that Henry Ford had gone too far. A man with a background as a farmer temporary worker not only got a permanent position but was also promoted to vice director, and now there was even talk of selling him a villa at a discount. No one believed there wasn’t something fishy going on.

Even some leaders were now considering their options, and one by one, phone calls were made to the group company to report the situation.

Peter Brown was completely unaware of these happenings as he followed Henry Ford to County First High School.

The two went straight to the principal’s office.

"Hadley, what brought this wind today that you actually came here!" The principal was a pleasant middle-aged man who chuckled and shook hands with Henry Ford.

"I’ve got a favor to ask, Mr. Hall. Do you have any English teachers whose spoken language skills are particularly good?"

Mr. Hall laughed and said, "We are the County First High School, after all. If you can’t find such a person here, where else would you look? What’s the matter?"

"Do you have any teachers who understand Japanese and German?"

Mr. Hall looked at Henry Ford curiously and said, "What exactly are you trying to pull? Speak plainly."

Pointing at Peter Brown, Henry Ford said, "Well, we’ve got a talent who, they say, knows these three foreign languages. I just want to figure out what level he’s really at."

So that was it!

Mr. Hall looked Peter Brown over and over, his own curiosity piqued, "For English we do have someone, but not for Japanese or German. You know we only teach English and not those two."

Mr. Hall continued, "The people at the County Commerce Office might have such talent, you could try there."

Slapping his thigh, Henry Ford exclaimed, "I’d completely forgotten about them. It would be better if I just went directly to the Commerce Office."

Mr. Hall chuckled, "Sure, I’m free now anyway, I’ll come along and take a look."

After the group arrived at the Commerce Office, Henry Ford was somewhat familiar with the place and quickly three young people, a man and two women, came over.

Director Cole of the Commerce Office chuckled and said, "Hadley, you’re always joking around. If we had such talent, why would they come to our small county instead of finding a good job elsewhere?"

Henry Ford hurriedly waved his hands, "Let’s not talk about that for now, just let them converse with Peter for a bit and see."

"Cameron, why don’t you and Peter have an English conversation?"

Cameron was a beautiful woman, looking sweet with dimples appearing when she smiled. Smiling at Peter Brown, she started in English, "Shall we begin?"

Peter slightly nodded his head.

Soon the two were rapidly chatting away; everyone listening to Peter’s exchange did so with wide eyes. It was apparent that Peter was very smooth, with absolutely no issues.

Seeing this, one of the girls switched to Japanese to chime in.

Now with each girl using a different foreign language, and watching Peter, there was complete ease in his conversations with the two of them, not even a pause.

The man, curious, also interjected in German.

All four were now freely chatting away.

Everyone was astonished by how fluent Peter Brown was; they were truly taken aback by him.

After chatting for a while, everyone stopped.

Director Cole, also knowledgeable in English, sighed, "Peter’s awesome, I dare not speak for the other languages, but as for English, it’s very standard and fluent."

The girl who had spoken Japanese said, "His Japanese is much better than mine."

"German too, better than mine," the boy added his praise.

Henry Ford laughed and clapped Peter Brown on the shoulder, "Awesome! Now, tell me, doesn’t this qualify him as talent?"

Director Cole’s eyes shone as he said, "If this isn’t talent, then what is? Peter, come to our Commerce Office, we need talent like you."

Henry Ford laughed and said, "Director Cole, that’s not very fair. Peter is our company’s talent, how could he go to your place? Don’t even think about it."

With that, he pulled Peter Brown and headed out.
