Chapter 1571: Chapter 1570: No One Can Be Underestimated_1
Looking at the other party’s transfer voucher, Peter shook his head incessantly; he had only wanted one hundred thousand, but they gave him so much money.
Even though it would take one or two business days for the money to arrive, Peter wasn’t worried at all that the other party might change their mind. The other party needed him, which was enough to confirm that the money had truly reached his hands. When the time came, just a little maneuvering through the network, and they wouldn’t stand a chance of tracing it back to him.
1.5 million dollars!
When he thought about suddenly having that much money, Peter became a bit unsettled.
Could he potentially capitalize on computer development?
After some consideration, Peter had no choice but to dismiss the idea; he came here to merge, not to make money.
Sitting there, he took a deep breath and drank a large glass of water before shutting down the computer and the office lights, locking the door and heading towards the dormitory.
What he had to do now was to merge as much as possible. Without merging, he couldn’t become a saint; this was the key. He mustn’t lose sight of his direction just because there was money to be earned.
It’s no wonder people easily get lost in secular society; he had nearly lost his way as well.
Peter felt that he really couldn’t do without this job and that he had to develop it well no matter what.
He wasn’t sure at what time he had fallen asleep, but when he woke up the next day, Peter had overslept.
After putting on a pair of long pants, Peter hurried to the office and discovered that both beauties had already been working there for a while.
"Reid, I overslept; I’m sorry," Peter said apologetically.
Reid Nelson laughed and said, "You’re in charge of inspecting the construction site; it’s normal to be a bit late. Edward Ford had already spoken about this, no worries."
Ivy Cooper, who rarely initiated a conversation with Peter, looked at him today with a smile and said, "You’re dressed nicely today, new pants, right? Are you going on a blind date? Hehe."
As she spoke, she burst into laughter.
Reid Nelson also laughed and said, "Peter, do you have someone in mind? If not, let us help you think about it."
Peter quickly replied, "No, no, I’m still young. Heeding Reid’s advice, I plan to sign up for self-study exams."
Ivy Cooper laughed and said, "That’s a good thing. You’ve become a regular employee, a formal worker. Without a diploma, it still won’t work. Try to get a diploma as much as possible. It’s good for your further development. How about it? Do you want me to tutor you?"
"If there’s something I don’t understand, I’ll have to ask you two beauties to teach me."
Peter also started to joke.
Ivy Cooper laughed and said, "Alright, for calling us beauties, I’ll tutor you no matter what."
At that moment, Reid Nelson cast a glance at Ivy Cooper. She couldn’t understand why Ivy Cooper’s attitude towards Peter had become so direct all of a sudden.
Although Ivy Cooper had been friendly with Peter before, there was no initiative to help. What was this woman thinking today?
At that moment, Peter also turned his gaze towards Ivy Cooper.
Today, Ivy Cooper was also dressed in black professional attire. Under the elegant color scheme, the woman’s beauty was enhanced a great deal, and Peter couldn’t help but have a look full of admiration in his eyes.
Sitting in the office, chatting and boasting, no one could tell that the two women had been covertly at odds for such a long time.
Watching the two women banter like close sisters, Peter grew even more wary of beautiful women, thinking to himself how adept they were at acting.
A vibration interrupted his thoughts, and Peter’s eyes lit up. He quickly opened his computer, only to see that an additional 1.5 million dollars had appeared in that account.
The money had arrived!
Peter’s fingers danced across the keyboard, and, after circulating that 1.5 million dollars around the country, it finally ended up in his own account.
Looking at the 1.5 million dollars sitting in his account, a smile spread across Peter’s face. He realized that making money was not difficult for him, so he didn’t need to pay too much attention to it. As long as he had enough to get by, that would suffice. Right now, his primary task was still to go through the experience of the lower echelons of society to temper his will and achieve a full-fledged fusion of his body, mind, and seed.
The situation seemed to be developing unfavourably for Christian Greenhill, and Peter couldn’t think of any way Christian could turn the tables.
Watching from the shadows, Peter noticed that Ivy Cooper and Christian Greenhill’s relationship had also cooled down, likely because Ivy had intentionally distanced herself from Christian.
Sitting in the office, Peter was analyzing the possible trends.
From the current situation, it was evident that Christian Greenhill, having lost the support of Theodore Smith, definitely had no future prospects and might even be facing suppression.
The alliance between the once-advantageous Christian Greenhill and Ivy Cooper was now heading towards dissolution.
Looking at Vincent Clinton, a situation today warranted deep thought. Vincent had taken the initiative to visit Henry Ford’s office. After the two talked for a while, it was clear that Henry Ford had a very favorable attitude towards Vincent.
When Reid Nelson saw this, a flicker of thought crossed her eyes, and Peter knew that Vincent must have used the same deceptive tactics Reid used to coax Henry Ford.
Thinking about it, he shook his head. Among the three leaders, Vincent was obviously much weaker and was definitely no match for Henry Ford.
What direction would they develop in next?
Peter felt his interest in these covert struggles growing; even with a lot of money in hand, he now had no desire to leave.
Should he stoke the flames?
Peter even entertained the idea of stirring up the conflict further.
While Peter was considering this, a thought struck him. He pulled out his earphones and listened. It turned out to be a voice coming from Christian Greenhill’s office.
After Vincent Clinton left Henry Ford’s office, the two went out together, and Christian probably noticed this situation.
Now, there were no outsiders in Christian’s office, and the door was tightly shut. Christian must have been certain that no one could hear his phone conversation.
It wasn’t the original phone card!
Peter Brown knew the moment he heard it that Christian Greenhill was using a different card to make the call.
"Is everything ready on your side?"
A husky voice on the other end then said, "Relax, every week he spends one night there, and he always brings a woman back to spend the night."
"Good, as long as you can get this done, I’ll give you a million dollars immediately."
"You should be confident in our work; the Hong Water Clan has never failed in any mission. Just wait for the good news."
"All I need is for you to blow this out of proportion, ideally get it on the media."
"Sure, no problem."
After this call ended, Peter Brown was full of questions and had no idea whom Christian Greenhill was plotting against.
Just then, Christian Greenhill made another call to someone else.
"I’ve already started to work on it. If it goes well, that person will definitely be affected, which will lead to his immediate dismissal."
"Hmm, if this works out, I won’t forget you."
Their conversation was brief, ending after just a few short exchanges.
Seeing that the call had ended, Peter Brown sat there, completely in the dark about what Christian Greenhill was secretly orchestrating.
Could it be aimed at Henry Ford?
But almost instantly, Peter discarded that thought. The voice of the person speaking with Christian Greenhill sounded like a leader’s.
No, he had to find out who this person was, no matter what, to see exactly who they were!
And so, Peter Brown began fervently typing away at his computer.
The other party had a conversation with Christian Greenhill, which meant that the phone number must have been exposed. Peter intended to uncover this person’s identity through that phone number.
For others, this might have been a difficult task, but with the execution of a small program, Peter quickly spotted a phone number on his computer screen. Following this number, he discovered it belonged to someone in the provincial capital.
Strange, whose number could it be?
After some typing, a photograph appeared on the computer screen, followed by a name.
Stanley Hill?
Seeing this name, Peter felt as though he had seen it somewhere before.
"Why are you looking at Assistant Hill’s photo?" Unknown to Peter, Ivy Cooper had appeared behind him and leaned in to see the photo on the screen.
Hearing Ivy Cooper mention Assistant Hill, it suddenly clicked for Peter: this guy was Stanley Hill, the Chairman’s Assistant at the headquarters.
As Peter turned to look at Ivy Cooper, he noticed she was bending over to look at his computer screen.
Thankfully, because of the photo, the program was hidden, and there didn’t seem to be any issues with the computer.
While the computer showed no problems, Peter’s eyes caught sight of something he shouldn’t have seen.
Glancing down, he saw into the neckline of Ivy Cooper’s blouse.
Ivy Cooper’s skin was so pale, and with one glimpse, he saw right down to her full, shapely figure, even discerning the pointed outline underneath.
He could even see red.
Images of women from adult videos on his computer flickered across Peter’s mind.
Seemingly unaware of Peter’s gaze, Ivy pointed at Stanley Hill’s picture and said, "He used to be a manager at our branch office before he got promoted to Assistant to the Chairman at the headquarters."
Peter said, "So he has risen high up!"
"That may not necessarily be the outcome he wanted," Reid Nelson chimed in.
As the subject turned to officialdom, the two women started to discuss more, sharing their thoughts.
Ivy said, "Exactly, it sounds like a promotion, but having real power as the top leader at a branch office is something different. I bet he’d prefer to remain a manager there."
Reid replied, "I’ve heard quite a few rumors too, like he might become a Vice President, but getting that position is like finding a needle in a haystack—hardly easy."
"If one of the Vice Presidents steps down, he certainly has a chance."
Listening to their conversation, Peter’s eyes widened.
All of a sudden, Peter had a thought. Everyone assumed Christian Greenhill was out of hope, but who would have guessed that he was reigniting old fires? If he really helped Stanley Hill take down a Vice President and Hill got promoted, wouldn’t that be a significant boost for Christian Greenhill?
With this in mind, Peter tentatively asked, "Assistant Hill must have promoted quite a few people during his time at our branch, right?"
Reid laughed and said, "Why the sudden interest in him? Mr. Graham was personally promoted by him."
So that was it!
Peter realized that the call he heard Christian Greenhill making today might have revealed a massive secret—that someone at the top of the company was being targeted by their schemes.
If this plan were to succeed, Christian Greenhill wouldn’t fall.
Thinking this, Peter secretly marveled. It seemed Christian Greenhill was indeed like an indestructible cockroach, now set on a new target, and who knew what they were plotting behind the scenes.
