Chapter 1572: Chapter 1571 Learning_1
"Peter, why did you suddenly think of checking Stanley Hill’s photo?" Ivy Cooper asked after discussing with Reid Nelson for a while, then posed another question.
"It’s nothing much, since I’m now an official employee, I should at least remember the faces of our company’s leaders. Imagine if one day a manager comes to the door and I mistakenly kick him out, that would be a disaster!"
Both women laughed upon hearing this.
Ivy Cooper said, "Leaders always arrive with an entourage; how could they possibly come alone? You’re overthinking it."
Peter casually remarked, "You guys say, if Assistant Stanley Hill gets promoted to deputy manager, would our company’s Mr. Graham see a big development?"
As soon as they heard what Peter said, the two women, who had been joking around, suddenly fell silent.
Peter was amused, feeling that he had struck a nerve, and was curious to see what tricks the two women would play next.
Afterwards, the two women only spoke in bits and pieces, no longer with the earlier enthusiasm.
Peter straightforwardly said to Reid Nelson, "Reid, I’m going to sign up today."
"Okay, do you have enough money?"
"My uncle gave me some, no problem, I’ve prepared everything."
Ivy Cooper also showed concern, "You should bring your ID card and photos; you might need them when the time comes."
"I’ve got everything with me."
As he left the office, Peter was contemplating some of the new situations that might arise.
Now Peter knew that as long as there was no threat to himself, he wouldn’t meddle too much with how things developed. After considering for a while, he felt that even if Stanley Hill replaced one of the deputy managers and climbed to a higher position, it wouldn’t affect Henry Ford too much. After all, Henry’s backing was the boss himself, Mr. Taylor wasn’t someone who could be easily taken down.
No matter what happens, as long as Henry Ford stays put for the time being, it’s fine.
Feeling relaxed, Peter headed to the Education Committee.
After asking around, Peter arrived at the Education Committee.
The registration process wasn’t complicated at all; he filled out the forms, paid the fee, and got a bunch of books.
This time Peter was determined to pass all the contents within a year to get the certificate.
Now that money wasn’t a problem for him, he bought all the books in one go. When the registration teacher asked him which classes he wanted to take, Peter replied, "Teacher, I’ve already reviewed most of the material before, I’m familiar with the content. I’ll take all the exams that don’t conflict."
The teacher looked at Peter in astonishment, then shook her head and said, "You should be sure and confident before taking the exams, or it’ll just be a waste of money."
"No worries, just organize it for me. I plan to get the diploma within a year. Since there are two exams a year, I can take the conflicting ones next time. I don’t think there will be any big issues."
The teacher looked at Peter speechlessly, didn’t stop him, and even helped Peter to figure out and register for the exams.
Leaving the Education Committee, Peter couldn’t carry all those books and simply took a taxi, asking the driver to help deliver them to the construction site.
After carrying them in two trips, Peter finally brought all the materials and documents into his dormitory, piling them in one corner.
Looking at the heap of books, Peter knew the next step was likely to spend his time on them.
When he took out the books and studied them a bit, Peter felt that the subjects like computer science, English, and theory of thought didn’t require much time. For him now, it was subjects like physics, mathematics, and mechanics that needed serious study.
Picking up a textbook on mechanics, Peter went into the office.
Upon Peter’s entrance, the two women immediately turned their eyes towards him.
Ivy Cooper asked, "You signed up? What are you majoring in?"
"You both said that my studies should align with my job, so I registered for Architectural Engineering. I heard that after getting a diploma in that, you can take some more exams to get a Bachelor’s."
Hearing Peter speak, the two women looked at him with complicated gazes.
Reid Nelson gave a wry smile and said, "I thought you’d go for a diploma in liberal arts. Why pick something so hard? Considering your foundation, do you really think you can pass and get a diploma?"
Peter replied, "I don’t think it’s too hard. If I study seriously, I should be able to grasp it. Besides, there are so many college graduates in the company, I can just ask them for guidance, right?"
Ivy Cooper laughed and said, "You’re actually taking this course! Do you understand linear algebra? What about earth mechanics? Do you know about computers? I remember you just started learning English!"
With that, Ivy Cooper couldn’t help but shake her head.
Peter also smiled and said, "No worries, it’s always good to learn new knowledge, right?"
Both women made a speechless expression, not optimistic about Peter’s self-study plans.
After a while, Reid Nelson said, "I don’t know about your foundation, but with your current level, to properly learn such an amount of knowledge, I think you might need to start from junior high school knowledge."
"It’s okay, I’ll start from junior high. Anyway, now you can find any knowledge on the computer. I’ll start learning from junior high school material right away."
Watching Peter search for content on the computer, the two women shook their heads again.
Peter didn’t care about their thoughts. To him, this knowledge wasn’t really that difficult. In the Technology Plane, he had absorbed a wealth of knowledge, which he still remembered. It was just a matter of understanding the local exam system and knowing which knowledge he needed to focus on.
He located all the junior high school content for physics, mathematics, and chemistry and started reading through it. Page by page, a myriad of knowledge was etched into Peter’s brain. Whenever he encountered something confusing, he would pull up videos to watch teachers explain the topic. Everything was as Peter expected, not too hard.
There wasn’t much to do in the office; occasionally, some young wives would drop by, and the women would chatter and gossip, with Ivy Cooper and Reid Nelson appearing to get along splendidly.
Peter occasionally glanced at them, admiring their ability to put on a show.
With his exceptional memory and comprehension skills, Peter mastered the junior high school curriculum. After having a sip of tea, he didn’t proceed further as he had already learned quite a lot.
Listening carefully, he noticed that Christian Greenhill’s office wasn’t open, and there was no movement in the direction of Henry Ford’s office either, probably meaning both of them were out and hadn’t returned yet.
At that moment, Peter even speculated that Henry Ford and Vincent Clinton were engaged in some kind of deal.
Even though on the surface nothing seemed to happen, Peter was well aware that certain events were unfolding, wondering who would get caught up in them. If any of it came to pass, it would be a significant development.
