Chapter 1424: Chapter 1424: Follow Me for Hope_1
The entire situation unfolded suddenly and escalated quickly. The leader who accompanied us was truly shocked. These fishermen of the island were no ordinary fishermen—some were rumored to have connections with pirates. When the leader thought about how Peter Brown had offended such people, he lost his composure, thinking that if Peter Brown died, it was one thing, but now it seemed he had doomed himself and worried that the villagers would harm him as well.
However, just as he was worrying, he looked around and realized that the situation did not match what he had envisioned.
The many villagers who had just charged were now one by one lying on the ground.
Looking at Peter Brown again, he saw Peter standing there indifferently, looking at the fallen villagers and saying, "Living on my land, you dare disobey me? Who gave you the courage? And who else refuses to submit?"
As Peter’s gaze moved, each villager whom he looked at hurriedly averted their eyes, scared.
The villagers were not seriously hurt; Peter had not used lethal force.
After the young people got up, Peter said, "If you still refuse to submit, I might allow you to use equipment to attack."
Seeing that Peter was looking down on everyone, one of the fishermen grabbed a steel fork and stabbed it towards Peter.
But Peter caught the steel fork, then turned it back and pinned one of the young man’s legs without injuring the flesh, but still rendering the young man unable to move.
After waiting a while and seeing that no one else dared to resist, Peter said, "Remember, this is my territory. If you want to live on my land, you must listen to me."
This time, no one dared to speak against him.
"Secondly, no matter what official positions you held before, they are all suspended as of now. I decide who I use and who I bring here. I have the final say."
"Third, I will redesign this place. The places you live are like doghouses. I will tear them all down and build new houses, one set for each household."
"Fourth, anyone who dares to collude with pirates or the like, don’t blame me for dealing with them harshly."
Having said that, Peter added, "Alright, that’s all for today’s meeting. If anyone still refuses to submit, be it openly or secretly, I’ll deal with you. Of course, if someone threatens me and then goes missing, it will have nothing to do with me."
The leader from the Organization Department in the county was now truly impressed, having not expected Peter Brown to be so assertive.
"Town Chief Wang, is there anything else?"
Peter shook his head and said, "No, you may leave."
At this point, Peter no longer cared about what these leaders thought. With such an island, Peter could develop his own affairs. The town chief was just an official title he was making use of temporarily.
After seeing off the leader, Peter walked towards the villa.
Upon arriving at the villa, he was greeted by a middle-aged man accompanied by two middle-aged women.
"We greet the master."
The middle-aged man bowed to Peter.
Peter was somewhat unaccustomed to being addressed in this way, surprised to find that the Huxing Empire still had a distinction between masters and servants!
"Who are you?"
"I am the steward here, my name is Noah White. These two are the cooks, who are here to serve you. We have been left with this villa as part of your inheritance and we hope you will retain us in view of our diligence."
Peter, realizing he had no one else he could rely on, looked at the three of them and said, "Then stay."
Peter had many means at his disposal and wasn’t worried about them betraying him. If they did, he could just alter their consciousness.
Hearing that Peter agreed to keep them, all three let out a sigh of relief as if a heavy burden had been lifted. In society nowadays, the poor are growing in number, and if they lost this job, they feared they would struggle to support themselves.
Entering the villa, Peter saw that the interior was indeed well furnished, and all kinds of facilities were luxurious, which made it clear that the Johnson Family had used it as a holiday retreat.
"Change all the bedding."
Peter told the steward who had followed him inside.
The cooks turned out to be proficient at their craft, and the food they made was quite good. After eating, Peter sat on the balcony, thinking about development plans.
What he needed now were Achievement points, and so his objective was to benefit as many people as possible through his actions.
However, coming up with ways to achieve this was something Peter couldn’t figure out in the moment.
Still, an idea had taken shape in Peter’s mind—to clandestinely develop his own power so that when the country fell into chaos, he could rescue some people using his own Power, which would significantly increase his Achievement points.
But thinking of the need for 1 billion Achievement points to qualify, Peter began to feel a headache brewing at the monumental challenge of earning so many points for himself.
He would take it one step at a time.
Reynard Johnson called at that moment.
"Peter, how are things?"
Peter recounted what had happened.
Reynard said, "Many of the island’s fishermen have connections with pirates. By being so assertive, pirates may come. Be careful. Do you need the county to send police officers?"
Peter replied, "Even if the county sends officers, it won’t be useful. They can leave at any time and do as they please, and the police can’t be watching here every day."
"Yes, we from the Johnson Family faced similar issues after obtaining the island. I told you about this before. I didn’t mislead you."
Peter asked, "If I kill pirates here, it doesn’t count as breaking the law, does it?"
"You don’t have to worry about that. The empire has laws that personal territories are inviolable. If someone enters your ten nautical mile zone, they have violated your territory, and you are free to use any means at your disposal."
Then that’s fine!
Peter felt a surge of relief. If that was the case, then no one could blame him for what he might do.
Even though pirates were strong, Peter was not weak.
"Has the equipment I ordered started to be shipped?"
"Don’t worry, the purchase is complete and it’s now being shipped to you. Oh, and the boat you asked for has also been delivered. Are you planning on modifying it yourself?"
"Yes, a standard ship will suffice. I will handle the modification myself."
After the call, Peter began to patrol the island.
Along the way, the villagers dodged out of the way and did not initiate conversation with Peter.
Peter didn’t mind; he was observing while planning the island’s transformation.
The island had become extremely important to Peter; during the turmoil in the Huxing Kingdom, he needed to rapidly complete the transformation.
