Chapter 1409: Chapter 1409: Mobilizing the Entire Village_1
Reynard Johnson thought for a moment and said, "You must keep up with the production volume, and that means expanding the factory. How about this, the county will specifically allocate a million dollars for the construction of your factory, to be used for this purpose only. Secretary Bruce, you keep an eye on this, no one is allowed to misappropriate these funds."
This meant that the matters of Fruitful Village were now in the hands of Bruce Richardson.
Bruce Richardson’s eyes gleamed as he said, "Boss, rest assured, no one will be able to touch these funds. I guarantee they will all be used for the two projects in Fruitful Village."
"Peter, do you have any other requests?"
Peter Brown said, "We still need to ask for the help of a construction team from the county."
"That’s not a big deal. I will call the County Real Estate Company and have them send a construction team to help you build, and make it as good as possible. These are two key projects for the county."
With Reynard Johnson’s support, Peter Brown felt relieved. The issue with the wine was now considered resolved.
After leaving Reynard Johnson’s office, brimming with excitement, Bruce Richardson said, "Peter, let’s cooperate well and strive to carry through with these two projects."
Peter Brown replied, "It’s all on you."
With a laugh, Bruce Richardson said, "Some people can’t cover the sky with one hand. Just do your best!"
Thanks to Reynard Johnson’s intervention, the two even bypassed the town’s finance department and directly set up a special account for Peter Brown to manage the money.
Meanwhile, the CEO of the County Real Estate Company also made a call, indicating that the construction team was ready to be stationed in Fruitful Village at any time.
After bringing the construction team back to the town, Seth Nelson immediately visited Bruce Richardson’s office.
"Secretary Bruce, what exactly is going on? How did the county specially allocate funds? Why can’t this million be funneled into the town’s finances and is instead given directly to Peter Brown? What’s the reasoning behind this?"
Seth Nelson was truly angry today as he could not understand what the two of them had done in the county.
Seeing Peter Brown sitting calmly in Bruce Richardson’s office drinking tea, his frustration surged, wondering if he was even considered as the second-in-command anymore.
"Peter Brown, what exactly did you do in the county? Don’t you think you owe the town an explanation?"
With a smile, Peter Brown said, "Leader Seth, haven’t I reported to you? Our Fruitful Village has initiated two projects, which Secretary Johnson is very optimistic about. He believes these projects should be vigorously developed, so he earmarked a million for us. Moreover, he personally called the County Real Estate Company to deploy a construction team to our village. I haven’t done anything else, have I?"
Seth Nelson was taken aback by Peter Brown’s words, indeed he had reported them before. But are those two shabby projects really worth a million?
At that moment, Bruce Richardson said with a smile, "Old Seth, it’s true. After personally hearing the report, Boss Johnson considered Fruitful Village to be a key poverty alleviation point and a priority for the whole county. There you have it, he personally named me to be in charge of these two projects, so I had no choice but to secure some funds. Boss Johnson made it clear, the funds are to be used strictly for the purpose, so don’t even think about it."
Boss Johnson put Bruce Richardson in charge?
Seth Nelson looked incredulously, feeling even more perplexed about the situation and wondering if there was something he didn’t know.
No, he had to send someone to Fruitful Village to see what was going on. Alexis White was apparently not listening to him anymore; something must have happened.
"Peter Brown, since the county is taking this so seriously, you should work hard. If there’s a problem, especially if that million goes to waste, you’ll have to take responsibility," said Seth Nelson before leaving the room.
Bruce Richardson smiled slightly and said, "Peter, go ahead with your work without worries. As long as the results are good, I’ll fully support you in the town."
After leaving, Peter Brown purchased some items and then led the construction team toward the village.
Watching Peter Brown carrying such a large pile of stuff, the construction team members secretly admired his efforts.
When they returned to the village, Alexis White and the others welcomed them, taking over the items that Peter Brown had purchased. Seeing so many people arriving with construction materials, the villagers curiously gathered around Peter Brown.
Seeing the villagers arrive, Peter Brown said to Alexis White, "Alexis, this construction team is from the County Real Estate Company. They are here to help us build the factory. Please organize their lodging and meals, and make sure they are well taken care of."
Overjoyed, Alexis White asked, "Is the company’s matter settled?"
Seeing the villagers eager to know, Peter Brown said, "This time when I went to County Town, Leader Johnson personally inquired about our projects, and he is very optimistic about them. The county has allocated a million to build the factory and to manage the projects. My fellow villagers, starting now, we have hope!"
Hearing what Peter Brown had to say, every pair of dim eyes lit up. The villagers had never felt such excitement before; countless leaders had visited, but only after Peter Brown’s arrival did they truly gain confidence.
Seeing their excitement, Peter Brown loudly announced, "The inauguration of the two projects officially starts today. What all of you need to do now is one thing: process the wine in your homes using the method I taught you, then the wine factory will purchase it all. As for the sales, leave that to us. Provide as much wine to the wine factory as you have."
Turning to Alexis White, he said, "You decide the purchase price based on the market conditions."
Alexis White replied, "Locally, bulk liquor goes for about ten dollars wholesale. Our wine isn’t worth anything; nobody would even buy it when we try to sell it."
Peter Brown said, "Let’s do this then, we can’t let everyone be at a loss; start purchasing at 10 dollars per pound initially. Later, if our price goes up, we’ll raise ours. How does that sound?"
"Ten dollars a pound is too high, five would be enough," said the villagers, feeling it was an exorbitant price.
Peter Brown, however, was thinking about targeting the high-end market and chuckled, "I’ve decided, let’s start with ten dollars. Whatever amount you bring, we’ll buy. But, we can only give everyone a portion of the money at first. After we make sales, we’ll pay the rest."
Alexis White declared loudly, "Did everyone hear that? We’ll do as Director Wang says, pay three dollars per pound to start; any objections?"
"What objections could we have? This is great news; we agree," they responded.
Instantaneously, the whole village mobilized; every family began distilling wine, and the village had never before buzzed with such prosperity. Despite just earning three dollars per pound for now, ten pounds amounted to thirty, and a hundred pounds totaled three hundred. With this money, the entire village’s food problem could be solved. For Fruitful Village, this was indeed a momentous blessing.
