Chapter 934: Section 615: Desolate City (Part 3)

Glancing back at the zombies scuttling on all fours, Sudel took out a mini jump mine from his pack and tossed it behind him on the ground. This small explosive would jump up to a height of one meter and detonate, enough to tear a humanoid Chaos in half.

"I see you guys!" Carmen was running at the forefront, and right as he rounded the corner, Sudel heard his cousin shouting in the channel.

"Good news, what’s the bad news?" Carmen stopped at the corner, leaned against the wall, and began cover fire.

Nuoqi ran past the corner, turned around and reached out a hand, Sudel felt himself being pulled, he let go of his resistance, and the next second, he was dragged to the corner by this Spiritual Energy Magician lady.

"The whole block is swarming with zombies! Run!"

As Rhodes urgently reported, Sudel rolled to dissipate the force; he stood up, raised the shotgun in his hand, and fired at the zombies rushing out of the alley—the first one was hit in the head, and before it could fall, two more zombies had already knocked over their companion, but Sudel’s second bullet took one of the zombies down, penetrating its eye socket, turning its occiput into a noun’s past tense.

Another zombie was taken down by Carmen, who, in the midst of an empty chamber reload, tugged on the magazine well, flinging the magazine out, while continuing to advance and reload.

After employing the Spider Walk Technique on herself, Nuoqi ran up the wall to the second floor, moving forward and shooting at the zombies pouring out of the alley.

"Mud for stone! Rhodes! Which side has fewer zombies?" Carmen shouted into the channel as he threw a scroll that turned an entire corner and a large stretch of the street into a muddy swamp.

"Head north!" Rhodes replied with three words.

"Are you kidding me? We’re surrounded by zombies ahead!" As Carmen was about to curse after watching zombies continue to emerge from the alley and sink into the mire, he heard a loud bang from behind.

Sudel turned his head to look behind and saw a giant zombie bursting through the half-collapsed building behind them.

"A giant zombie! Damn, that’s something only found in the core Dark Zone of the East! How did they get here! Run!" As Rhodes shouted in the channel, there was no need for his reminder, Nuoqi was the first to step up; as she jumped over the alleyway, she was nearly pounced on by a zombie, but the girl stepped on the zombie’s face mid-air and leaped over, narrowly escaping danger.

"Miss Nuoqi, don’t you feel like vomiting when you run like that?" Carmen asked out of curiosity as he ran past with Sudel, as during his Spider Walk Technique course, he got terribly sick when walking sideways on a wall.

"You get used to it, I can even run on the ceiling, Mr. Sudel. How about you?"

"I can too." Sudel answered the girl’s question while running at full speed and tossed a lit incendiary grenade into the alley that was still spewing out zombies.

The giant zombie behind them adjusted its position, skewed by the impact, and began its pursuit of the fresh meat before it, surrounded by a large number of zombies sprinting on all fours.

"Halsan! Assemble the Recoilless Gun! Load the Armor-Piercing Bullets! We must stop that big guy!" Rhodes kept providing supportive fire, and Sudel could occasionally see zombies being knocked off the tops of ruins onto the street in front.

Sudel kept an eye on Nuoqi as she ran, hopping over alley after alley with none of the frail constitution of a Domestic Fairy visible on her—seemingly a childlike figure, yet carrying such heavy equipment with an unfettered gait.

Whoever marries her, who gets to dominate whom, would surely be a deeply engraved question.

The young man’s thoughts drifted as he raised his gun and knocked down a zombie emerging from a left alleyway.

After emptying a magazine in one go and seeing eleven zombies down at the alleyway entrance, along with little zombies picking up clubs from their own kind, Sudel’s hand stopped while changing his magazine.

Their next generation had learned to use clubs.

The impactful reality left Sudel somewhat dazed. He didn’t feel any discomfort when the first zombie charged out and he began firing, but as one running, upright zombie after another fell to the bullets, when the little zombie holding a sharpened club rushed him, Sudel’s left hand could only put down his rifle and then pulled out his pistol from his holster at his hip, and pulled the trigger on the approaching Different Kind youngling.

The little zombie fell to the ground, and Sudel was dragged away by Carmen.

"Have you lost your mind? Why stop?"

Carmen’s voice echoed in Sudel’s ears, as he was pulled along while glancing back at the little zombie, Sudel eventually holstered his pistol, gestured for Carmen to let go, and continued running while pulling up the rifle hanging from his waist with ropes to change the magazine.

"The Recoilless Gun is ready! I’m going up! Shooting it here will kill us all with the backblast!" Halsan’s voice came through the channel: "Rhodes! After I get up there, pass me the Recoilless Gun barrel!"

"No problem, just call me the dead! Nuoqi! There are zombies on the rooftop ahead of you! Erect zombies! Two of them!"

Following Rhodes’ warning, Sudel and Carmen turned simultaneously, just in time to see Nuoqi leap over an alleyway, she twisted her body, pointing her gun upwards, as a zombie had already leaped down!
