Chapter 935: Section 65: Desolate City (Part 3)_2

Nuo hit it at the first opportunity, swiftly turned by twisting her waist, dodging the falling corpse, but another zombie immediately jumped down, pouncing on Nuo, both of them crashing to the ground.

"Cover me! Carmen!" Sudel immediately turned and ran towards Nuo, Carmen cursed in slang and began to cover Sudel.

As Sudel sprinted to the scene, he saw that the left hand of the zombie was clasping Nuo’s throat, with a broken sword in its right hand, while Nuo’s left hand was gripping the blade, blood uncontrollably flowing down the edge.

Nuo’s left hand seemed to be broken; she was struggling as the broken sword drew closer and closer to her face.

Then a bayonette was thrust into the zombie’s waist, Sudel’s charge pulling the creature away from Nuo. It screamed, seeming to be saying something, its left hand grasping the gun barrel, the right hand futilely trying to grab something, until it was slammed into a wall by Sudel.

A kick landed on its face, blurring the zombie’s countenance with blood and flesh, Sudel pulled out the bayonette, then plunged it into its left rib cage once more.

The zombie stopped moving, Sudel released the gun and turned to rush towards Nuo, who by then was sitting up, taking out a vial, biting the cork with her mouth to open it, then pouring the liquid into her mouth.

Sudel ran up to her side, reaching out to lift her up.

The girl’s left arm was dangling, likely broken in the fall, with bone piercing through the garment at the upper arm, yet the girl didn’t utter a sound, instead she pulled the revolver from her holster with her right hand.

"Mr. Sudel, you shouldn’t have come back." As the zombies closed in on them, Nuo rested her head on Sudel’s shoulder.

"We’re comrades-in-arms, don’t talk nonsense." Sudel ran, turning his head to look at Carmen who was still shooting at the pursuing zombies: "Time to go, Carmen!"

"We should split up, I’ve drawn enough attention." Carmen looked at Sudel, standing at the mouth of the alley with a smile: "See you in Valhalla, Sudel, survive."

"No! Carmen, don’t do something foolish!" Sudel saw Carmen turn and run into the alley, tears uncontrollably streaming from his eyes.

Then he and Nuo watched as Carmen flew out of the alley, the big man sitting on the ground with a silly grin.

What’s wrong with him?

Vigilant, Sudel thought, when he saw Sir Malin emerge from that alley.

......

"Courage is good, determination is good, but it’s not your time to face death yet, Carmen, I’ve witnessed your performance, now off you go, leave this to me." Malin smiled at the young man who was still grinning, then his eyes widened sharply: "Get lost!"

Carmen got up and ran.

Malin glanced at the girl Sudel was holding in his arms, noticing she was also looking at him.

He smiled at her and raised his hand behind him.

The tide of zombies stopped as if hitting a dam, the ones in front first shattered and crumpled, then were crushed to death on the spot by their kin behind them.

The giant zombie was accelerating, it seemed to want to leap over this invisible wall.

Malin turned, his left hand transforming from palm to claw, and as the giant zombie leaped, Malin clenched his hand with force. The giant zombie completed an unsuccessful jump, ultimately crashing headfirst into the ground, squashing countless of its own kind.

Malin stood still, watching those zombies, as the initial chaos subsided, their ranks parted, and an upright zombie stepped forward.

Frowning, Malin felt that this zombie... seemed to have expressions.

·Why have you come to our city?

The channel for Spiritual Energy communication established, Malin almost laughed hearing the zombie’s words.

"This is not your city, you and I stand on the land of humans." Malin said while waving his hand, a lunging zombie was flattened against the wall by his blow, the already damaged wall couldn’t withstand this forceful hit and collapsed, burying the striking zombie.

·But you humans have abandoned this place, to the east, there are many cities like this, my kind rules over there!

After preventing its kin from sneak attacks, the zombie bluntly retorted Malin with the power of language.

Malin laughed.

"You seem rational, then do you know, this world was originally humans’, humans created this world, and you, yet you became one monster after another."

"Evolution! Survival of the fittest!" This time, the zombie uttered two words.

Malin was finally moved—the zombies not only established social relationships, they began collective rearing, division of labor, had Spiritual Energy beings, and even...they have started learning how to speak.

"Since you mention survival of the fittest, then you should understand, we are adversaries, those invading this city are also enemies, do you prefer having two enemies rather than one more friend?" Malin changed his tone—he wanted to know if these zombies truly had intelligence.

Unfortunately, they did not.

Because the zombie shook its head: "Your soft-skinned era has ended, our individuals are more powerful, our reproductive capacity is greater, we are the new masters of this world!"
