Chapter 515: Chapter 349: So Small (Part 3)

Malin’s battle yesterday, if it were in the internet era, would not have waited until the next day; it would have spread across the networks that very day, becoming nearly impossible to erase.

But in this medieval world, it was not until the following night that Lady Anna became one of the first Sydneyans to learn of the news. She summoned a door to take a brief look, confirming that no one was missing from the company before she left.

As she was leaving, she glanced at Malin, "Don’t take everything upon yourself. When I gave you my daughter in marriage, it wasn’t so you could treat her as a mere decoration."

"You are right," Malin nodded.

After sending off the lady, Malin collapsed onto the sofa, stroking a Spotty cub in his hand. These Spirit cubs had a strong vitality; they could open their eyes to recognize the world just a week after birth. Somehow, Malin had become their third favorite.

Their mother was their favorite, and Maya was their second.

Backup rations lay at his feet, with one eye open, watching the somewhat awkward Half-human standing nearby.

"Speak, what does that old white-haired man want to say?" Malin held no ill-will towards this Half-human—he was just a low-level worker in the royal intelligence department, referred to in their jargon as "D-class personnel," considered expendable.

"Lord Catalia would like you to protect Miss Rewo... He also made a point of sending a gift, a gift from the Queen for Miss Rewo," the Half-human said.

Seeing the gift placed on the table by the guards, Malin waved his hand and the D-class personnel quickly ran off with the guards.

Jessica went over, opened the box, and took out a small crown for a prince, a ceremonial dagger for birth commemoration, and a somewhat yellowed scroll of a portrait at age eight.

"A prince’s crown, a birth commemoration dagger, and a portrait at the age of eight..." Looking at the three items Jessica was showing, Faye turned to look at Rewo: "Your grandfather really was a prince, but then again, why did he leave the Farol Principality?"

"My grandfather never mentioned it, so I don’t know. I thought that no one knew about my origins, but it seems they remember," Rewo’s face was filled with sorrow: "What does it mean for them to give me these three things?"

"The separation... As long as these three are in your hands, the royal family of Farol Principality is acknowledging your identity. But since they couldn’t defeat Malin the day before yesterday, this is probably the only strategy they could resort to," Faye explained.

"But having given the items to Rewo and acknowledged her identity, what if she claims it?" Jessica asked curiously.

"It won’t happen. I couldn’t possibly betray his kindness for the so-called right of inheritance, and Mr. Malin has shielded me from the storm. Mr. Malin said he wouldn’t hand me over to the southern nobles, so they have given the choice to Mr. Malin... I’m causing trouble for Mr. Malin." The Half-blood girl sighed, "I shouldn’t have come along and caused trouble for everyone."

"Don’t worry about such things. Since you’re a friend of Faye and the others, you’re my friend too. I won’t let a friend’s blood be shed in vain," Malin said, stroking the cub on his lap: "And tonight, I have something I’d like to discuss with you all."

Maya, who was stroking Spotty, turned her head around.

Clovis, who was writing a formula, shifted her attention this way.

Lillim, who was caring for her horns, slowed her actions.

Matilda continued to maintain her Longsword while looking towards Malin.

Jessica leaned over the table.

Faye smiled.

"I thought all last night, unable to sleep, that there is something wrong with this world," Malin paused, noting that the girls continued to listen intently as an audience, then continued.

"I once had a dream, of a world without Transcendents, without Chaos, and without Deities."

"Sounds like one of your new deep dives," Matilda began to say but was cut off by Clovis tugging at her ear.

Malin continued his speech: "In that world, I struggled alone for survival. The world was neither good nor bad, but one thing was clear: everyone was a Mortal, bound to exhaust their strength eventually. Yet, in such a world, countless Mortals came together, striving towards a goal. Can you imagine, billions of Mortals working together for one cause? Each one believing that a better tomorrow will certainly come, though it might take tens or even dozens of generations of effort. It was so beautiful, so beautiful that I forgot it was all just a dream."

At this point, Malin sighed.

All that he had learned, all that he had heard, was in pursuit of that grand goal.

A fair world, akin to the Heavenly Kingdom on earth.

"Mr. Malin, do you intend to replicate a Heavenly Kingdom in this world?" Matilda perked up her large ears.

"I never wanted to force everyone to accept my vision of a Heavenly Kingdom. I just wanted to give those children powerless over their Fate a chance at happiness, to shield them from hunger and cold. But recent events made me understand, I cannot achieve that. These old nobles have no mercy, in their eyes, everything is just a pawn on their path to happiness," Malin said.

"Mr. Malin... Are you preparing to be King yourself?" Lillim looked at Malin, her face full of curiosity.

"No, I won’t be King; in my dream, every person was their own King," Malin said with a smile, shaking his head.
