Chapter 3612: Everlasting Will
Chapter 3612: Everlasting Will
The High Seraph had been completely invincible, despite confronting the entire Heavens Sect. He had swept through countless top powerhouses from the Tianyuan Megaverse and had forced Lu Yin to reverse time. At that moment, Lu Yin had felt true despair after experiencing the full force of the High Seraph’s overwhelming might. However, even all of that could not compare to the memory he saw of what had happened in the Consciousness Megaverse.
In addition to the power that Lu Yin had already experienced or seen for himself, when fighting in the Consciousness Megaverse, the High Seraph had unleashed another terrifying ability: a Transcended Sequence.
Lu Yin had only seen two individuals in the Spirit Nidus who had managed to achieve a Transcended Sequence: Old Salamander and Emperor Slayer. Mr. Li had demonstrated a power close to a Transcended Sequence, but his had been incomplete.
It took countless years of cultivating to nurture a Transcended Sequence. It was a transformation that occurred from the continuous improvement of one’s sequence particles. Old Salamander had accomplished that, as had Emperor Slayer. If such ancient powerhouses could achieve such mastery, then it should be no surprise that the High Seraph had done the same.
What truly shocked Lu Yin was not just that the High Seraph had achieved a Transcended Sequence, but rather how incredibly powerful his Transcended Sequence was.
It was powerful enough to overturn everything that Lu Yin had believed he knew about sequence particles.
Old Salamander’s Transcended Sequence was able to seal his opponent’s power. Emperor Slayer’s had formed the Horizon’s Mirror, which made it possible for him to almost always escape. However, the High Seraph’s Transcended Sequence was Everlasting Will.
What was Everlasting Will? Whatever the mind conceived became eternal, unchanging for all time. This was Everlasting Will.
Nothing could withstand it, and no technique could counter it. In Wu Wei’s memories, the High Seraph had used his Transcended Sequence to slaughter two of the Thirteen Luminaries. During that battle, five of the Thirteen Luminaries had cooperated against the High Seraph, only to be completely wiped out. The Transcended Sequence that he had unleashed could not be stopped by anything they had.
At that moment, the High Seraph had truly been invincible.
That incident had left Wu Wei with an indelible impression that, even if all Thirteen Luminaries had joined together, they would still be annihilated.
The High Seraph had planted a seed of terror deep in Wu Wei’s heart, and it had silenced any thought of resistance against the High Seraph or the Spirit Nidus.
While the Seven Seraphs had not witnessed the battle itself, the outcome alone had been enough to terrify them for countless years. Their only option had been to run and hide. Before the current High Seraph had taken the title, the Seven Seraphs had not nearly been so obedient, which was why the previous High Seraph had used rumors of the invincible being to help him retain control of the Spirit Nidus.
Yu Shan claimed that the invincible being had been fabricated by the previous High Seraph, as he feared losing control of the Spirit Nidus. However, the current High Seraph had no need to fabricate anything. He was already invincible, and no one could challenge him.
Lu Yin had witnessed that invincibility for himself.
The High Seraph had not even needed to use his full strength to deal with the entire Tianyuan Megaverse, and yet he had already displayed enough power to overwhelm all of them.
Lu Yin quickly thought of other details, such as the man’s innate gifts. There were many people in the Tianyuan Megaverse who possessed an innate gift, and the same was true of the Spirit Nidus. However, there were many individuals whose innate gift was overshadowed by their spirit weapon or Spirit Rebirth’s innate gift.
Some cultivators also had more than just their Spirit Rebirth’s innate gift, also possessing a natural innate gift that they had been born with.
For someone as supremely talented as the High Seraph, Lu Yin could not help but assume that the man had been born with an innate gift.
Also, there was the possibility of a mirebound artifact.
Mirebound artifacts were among the most terrifying objects in existence, and no one could say what one could do. Did the High Seraph possess a mirebound artifact? There was no need to even ask such a question; the man did, and likely more than one.
Seeing Wu Wei’s memories placed a heavy burden onto Lu Yin. For the first time, he was able to grasp just how absurdly powerful the High Seraph truly was.
The entire Spirit Nidus wanted to test Lu Yin’s limits, while he was desperate to find out just how powerful the High Seraph was.
Heaven’s Blade. Lu Yin wanted to see Heaven’s Blade.
...
The days passed by swiftly. Countless cultivators had gathered at the source of the Fu River, and thanks to warnings from cautious individuals, everyone stayed far away from the site of the upcoming battle, no matter how eager they were to get a closer view.
There was also a clear separation between the beast-form Spirit Rebirths and the human-form Spirit Rebirths.
The people from Boundless gathered a short distance from the human-form Spirit Rebirths, though the vessel itself was not present.
Powerful auras flickered about both openly and in the shadows. The upcoming battle was regarded as a clash between the two most powerful individuals in the megaverse, barring the High Seraph himself, and it had subsequently drawn out countless powerful experts. There were even individuals with traces of decay to their auras, which was a clear sign that they were reaching the end of their lifespans. Such people were hoping to gain insights from watching the battle. If they could achieve some sort of enlightenment and break through, they might even be able to extend their lifespans.
The entire Spirit Nidus fell silent.
While they had agreed to hold the duel half a year after the Day of Offering, neither Emperor Wu nor Lu Yin had specified an exact date, so everyone could only wait.
The Fu River was an interstellar river that crossed through multiple domains. Its source was not within any of the thirty-six domains, but rather in an unaffiliated universe beyond them. It was a universe uninhabited by humans, and the entire environment was unsuitable for biological life. This was why it had never been integrated into the thirty-six domains.
This universe had once been the site of a battle to the death between two Seraphs. One had been the then-leader of the beast-form Spirit Rebirths, but he had been defeated. The source of the Fu River was where that Seraph had died, and the location had become a source of shame for all beast-form Spirit Rebirths.
Emperor Wu had chosen this place for his battle with Lu Yin to purge that humiliation.
If Emperor Wu also lost, the beast-form Spirit Rebirths would lose all face and be left with no dignity.
In a way, the choice of battlefield was a declaration of Emperor Wu’s absolute determination to win.
No matter how many cultivators gathered, no one would disturb the sanctity at the source of the Fu River. Everyone stayed far away from that bit of wilderness.
They silently waited as more than ten days passed, their anticipation mounting. Everyone knew that the battle was inevitable.
Finally, one day, a figure moved through the void before descending upon the wilderness. Their appearance created an uproar among the watching cultivators.
“That’s the Third Boss.”
“He’s here! Emperor Wu won’t be long now!”
“I expected Emperor Wu to arrive first, but it turns out that Seraph Lu beat him.”
“You’re right. The Third Boss is arrogant and ignores all the rules, and yet he arrived first.”
“Don’t forget, Emperor Wu is at least as arrogant as the Third Boss.”
That reminder struck the entire crowd. They all remembered that, before Boundless had arrived, Emperor Wu had indeed been the most overbearing individual in the entire Spirit Nidus.
Compared to the High Seraph, who ruled the entire Spirit Nidus, Emperor Wu’s name had been practically synonymous with cruelty and unreasonable behavior. It was only because of all the rules and taboos that Boundless had broken that they had overshadowed Emperor Wu. After all, the Third Boss had repeatedly provoked the High Seraph, and he had even threatened to carve on the walls of the Apex Palace. Everything that had happened in recent years had caused people to believe that Lu Yin was even more overbearing than Emperor Wu, but that was really nothing more than an illusion.
Neither of the two were any easier to deal with than the other.
Lu Yin dropped onto the ground of the wilderness and looked around. He understood why this place was uninhabited.
Old Tao had once talked about the source of the Fu River, mentioning that it was a place of humiliation for the beast-form Spirit Rebirths. The fact that Emperor Wu had chosen this location for his battle with Lu Yin indicated his confidence in winning, and Old Tao had warned Lu Yin to exercise caution.
With his hands clasped behind his back, Lu Yin contemplated his impending battle with Emperor Wu. In a way, their fight would serve as a direct representation of the power hierarchy across the megaverses, excluding those at the Immortal Realm.
Excluding Master Qing Cao, the strongest individual in the Spirit Nidus was the High Seraph. Beneath him was supposed to be Emperor Wu.
As for the Tianyuan Megaverse, the most powerful individual was either True God or the Origin Progenitor, and Lu Yin was right beneath both of those men.
The Spirit Nidus was certainly far stronger than the Tianyuan Megaverse, but the Tianyuan Megaverse was just too unpredictable. If Lu Yin had been born in the Spirit Nidus, it would have been nearly impossible for him to take the same path to power, due to their unified cultivation system. Things were so well laid out that no cultivator would try to take a path that had not already been taken by another.
Would a fish choose to live in a clear river or in a murky one?
While the environment was better in clear waters, a fish could be easily seen in just a glance. In murky waters, while the environment was worse, others were also reluctant to enter.
From Lu Yin’s perspective, the Fu River was very clear.
On one bank of the river, the moment that Lu Yin’s eyes swept through an area, the countless cultivators present felt their hearts seize. It felt as though they were not just being seen, but being completely seen through.
Several individuals instantly left, most of whom were older experts who did not want to be analyzed by Lu Yin. The stronger the individual, the more they could sense disaster looming above them.
Lu Yin looked to the other side of the river, and in the exact same manner, some ancient powerhouses left.
Old Salamander sighed. “How overbearing must you be, Seraph Lu?”
Lu Yin’s eyes locked onto Old Salamander. “You actually dared to show up?”
Old Salamander responded with a wry smile. “Seraph Lu, this old man has no intention of being your enemy.”
Lu Yin’s expression turned cold. “You used me in an attempt to deal with Emperor Wu, and you even killed my people who joined Boundless. Old man, do you think that I’ll let things go?”
Old Salamander sighed. “I am willing to trade my secrets for your magnanimity, Seraph Lu.”
“I’ll pry them out of you myself.” The moment he finished speaking, Lu Yin vanished.
Old Salamander’s expression changed, and he was prepared to escape, only for Lu Yin to suddenly stop and then reappear in the wilderness. During the brief moment that Lu Yin had shot forward, he had sensed divine energy.
Old Salamander had become one of True God’s people.
While Lu Yin was not concerned about becoming Old Salamander’s enemy, he could not ignore True God.
There was no chance that Old Salamander was Stillstorm. If he was, it would be impossible for him to serve True God. But then, why had he appeared?
The sky above exploded. A massive hand tore through the void, reaching for Old Salamander, who just shrugged while helplessly saying, “I just wanted to watch your battle in peace. There’s no need to keep chasing me.”
With that, he left with Meng Sang.
The universe shook.
Emperor Wu fully emerged, a grim expression on his face. I’ll catch that old man eventually.
The sight of Emperor Wu threw all of the beast-form Spirit Rebirths into a frenzy. “Greetings, Emperor Wu!”
“Greetings, Emperor Wu!”
“Greetings...”
Their voices merged and caused the Fu River to churn from the commotion. The universe itself quivered.
For that moment, all of humanity was suppressed. The moment that Emperor Wu appeared, his arrogant, unrivaled aura swept out, and it left everyone breathless, regardless of whether they were a powerhouse or an average cultivator.
This battle at the source of the Fu River would pit two supreme powerhouses against each other. Neither could afford to underestimate the other.
Despite that, they both still wanted to capture Old Salamander. It was important to note that Meng Sang had been standing right beside the ancient powerhouse. How unconcerned did Lu Yin and Emperor Wu have to be about their battle to be willing to try to grab Old Salamander?
This was not to say that either man was underestimating Old Salamander or Meng Sang, but rather that they were both completely confident about their own victory in the upcoming fight.
Everyone focused on the two men. People hardly dared to even breathe. Some gulped as sweat trickling down their face as they stared up at Emperor Wu. It was clear that the battle was finally about to begin.
Emperor Wu stood high above the source of the Fu River, his gaze sweeping across all the beast-form Spirit Rebirths present before he finally turned his attention to the wilderness. A single step forward delivered Emperor Wu right in front of Lu Yin.
At this moment, the residents of the Primal Beastland were reminded of the series of battles that had only recently shaken their domain.
Anyone who had witnessed the battles in the Primal Beastland felt both stifled and excited. While it might seem that Astral Anura, Wilderness God, and even Old Salamander were some of the most powerful experts in existence, Emperor Wu had never revealed his true strength. At the very least, his sequence base had never made an appearance. Emperor Wu had been holding back that entire time.
Those battles had appeared to be thrilling confrontations, but all of them had only seen half of the participants’ full strength, while one participant had always kept a portion of his power in reserve. Finally, they would see his full strength today.
No one spoke. All eyes were staring at the wilderness.
It was about to begin.
