Chapter 3588: Woodpecker
Chapter 3588: Woodpecker
Astral Anura gaped. Having faced off against Emperor Wu himself, the toad was well aware of Emperor Wu’s terrifying abilities. Yellowy had actually managed to face him directly, and he had come out on top. Was every last one of the Three Realms and Six Daos a freak? In hindsight, it was incredibly lucky for the Aeternals that the Origin Progenitor had forbidden the Three Realms and Six Daos from breaking through for so long. If they had become Ortusers or Dukkhans, how would Aeternus have fought against them?
If all of the Three Realms and Six Daos had entered Dukkha... Just the thought of such a possibility had Astral Anura feeling sorry for the Aeternals.
Throughout the universes, countless eyes turned to stare at Boundless. How many more incredible experts were hiding aboard that battleship?
This astral beast had clearly demonstrated the strength needed to compete for the title of Seraph. As for the toad that had stepped out earlier, it had managed to send Emperor Wu into the ground with one attack. Who could endure such an overpowered attack? Additionally, there was also Seraph Lu, Seraph Yuan Qi, and others. The combat power of Boundless far exceeded what anyone had imagined.
Previously, everyone had been focused on Lu Yin and Yuan Qi, so it was only at this moment that most were seeing another side of Boundless.
A random astral beast that had stepped out was actually capable of standing against Emperor Wu. Before the battle had started, who would have believed such a thing?
Down on the ground, Wilderness God’s body was covered in blood and wounds. The Boundless Halberd in his hand had been fully restored. He stared into the dust. Overpowering Emperor Wu?Don’t be absurd! He still hasn’t used his sequence particles, innate gifts, or even revealed his beast form.
At most, Wilderness God had pushed Emperor Wu to the point where he needed to reveal his true strength. Wilderness God was trying to expose the true limits of Emperor Wu’s strength to Lu Yin.
The earth trembled as the dust was pulled into a cyclone that stretched high into the sky from the ground. Within that maelstrom of dust, a dark figure twisted. It grew and expanded, becoming larger and larger. Finally, an arm shot out from the dust. A simple flick sent the dust away.
What appeared in everyone’s sight was a ten-meter tall monster. Its face had no features, save for a single red line running down it. The rest of the creature’s entire body was black,
It suddenly threw back its head and let out a roar.
This was Emperor Wu’s beast form, acquired from his Spirit Rebirth: woodpecker.
In the Spirit Nidus, cultivators could acquire the forms of various astral beasts by undergoing their Spirit Rebirth. These differences were due to their cultivation arts, experiences, and even their imagination. Because of this, creatures that had never been seen before could appear. This was the miracle of a Spirit Rebirth.
Emperor Wu was the first being who had acquired the form of a woodpecker after undergoing his Spirit Rebirth, but all his direct descendants had the same form.
When the woodpecker appeared, all other beasts prostrated themselves.
Countless beast-form Spirit Rebirths crouched low. None of them dared to raise their heads as they trembled in fear.
This was a bloodline suppression caused by the appearance of a peerlessly superior creature.
In outer space, someone sighed. "Once again, we see Emperor Wu's beast form. It has been a long, long time since I last saw it."
"Emperor Wu can overpower most creatures in the Spirit Nidus even in his human form. Of the Seven Seraphs, just who can force Emperor Wu to use his woodpecker form? Isn’t that right, Seraph Yi?"
In the distance, Yi Shang emerged and stepped forward. "Are you old freaks still alive?"
"Barely. We left the Gate of Laws specifically for this battle, and we have not been disappointed."
"To see woodpecker appear again, I’ve not lived in vain. This is my first time seeing it."
"You're much younger than the rest of us. Actually, you weren’t even alive back when Emperor Wu last fought in his woodpecker form."
Yi Shang stared at the Primal Beastland. "The woodpecker has unbreachable defenses. Who can penetrate his defenses, other than the High Seraph himself? Even when three of us Seraphs teamed up, we couldn't break his defenses."
"What other experts are there aboard Boundless?"
Above the battleship, Lu Yin’s expression grew heavy. He experienced a choking sensation when he looked at the woodpecker. It was as if he was being watched by some terrifying being. Was the beast form that Emperor Wu had obtained from his Spirit Rebirth? This creature was far stronger than Emperor Wu’s human form.
The violent aura that the woodpecker gave off caused Boundless to sway, and the universe itself was trembling.
The one suffering the most pressure was, of course, Wilderness God. He stared at Emperor Wu before charging forward, swinging the Boundless Halberd downwards. The power of time, space, or any battle technique were all ineffective at this moment. If Wilderness God could not stand up to Emperor Wu with pure strength, anything else would be nothing but a joke.
Emperor Wu looked up and raised a hand. It snapped forward, fingers splayed as he threw a vicious palm strike.
Before the attack even arrived, the pressure from Emperor Wu’s palm strike shattered the void and sent both Wilderness God and his Boundless Halberd flying backwards. Emperor Wu reached out with his other hand to grab Wilderness God, the serrated blade vanishing. There was no longer any need for it.
Bang!
The palm struck Wilderness God, and cracks spread across his body. He shot backwards, but Emperor Wu took a step forward, giving chase.
Wilderness God’s eyes were fierce as his head suddenly snapped up while he threw a punch.
Bang!
The next loud crash nearly shattered Wilderness God’s arms as he was sent reeling once again. Emperor Wu raised his hand back up, dropping it down upon Wilderness God’s arms in a slicing motion.
Boom!
This time, Wilderness God managed to block the attack, though his body was forced into the ground. He succeeded in blocking the strike with his almost entirely shattered arms by circulating his sequence particles to dull Emperor Wu’s attack. Emperor Wu then simply grabbed Wilderness God’s arms and flung him away, the motion just as easy as when Wilderness God had done the same to Emperor Wu.
Up in the sky, Wilderness God’s body was covered with the surging blue and red liquid. The moment he landed back on the ground, Emperor Wu appeared. His hand formed a blade that he thrust forward.
The hand stabbed into Wilderness God, though half of it was blocked by the blue and red liquid.
"I nearly forgot about your soft defense," Emperor Wu commented, standing close to Wilderness God. The two stared at each other, both seeing the other’s ferocity. "In that case, I will just beat you to death."
With that, his hand switched from a blade back into an open palm that struck Wilderness God’s back. The astral beast’s strength surged yet again as he recited the Origin Sutra in a louder voice. It amplified his power as he fought against Emperor Wu with everything that he had.
The Origin Progenitor breathed a long sigh. "No matter how much his sequence particles are enhanced, it is impossible to compensate for the gap that currently exists between him and Emperor Wu. He rose to the Origin realm from a Sequence Progenitor, but he only just entered Dukkha. Given more time to cultivate, there would not be such a wide gap."
Lu Yin replied, "If we opened the Nine Heavens for him, he could use the Nine Heavens Transformation to fight. That would be enough to force Emperor Wu to reveal absolutely everything, but there’s no need to continue this fight right now."
Chu Yi frowned. "I know Yellowy’s personality. He’s made his own plans, and he’s not ready to retreat yet. He will stay there until his last breath."
Lu Yin casually asked, "Who said that this is a one-on-one fight?"
The ground cracked as Wilderness God coughed up blood. Emperor Wu continued attacking with one palm strike after another. Although the blue and red liquid blocked most of each attack’s force, what remained was still enough to jar Wilderness God and leave him coughing up blood.
Wilderness God continued to endure. His goal for this battle was to push Emperor Wu to reveal everything that he was keeping hidden.
Suddenly, more figures started to descend from Boundless. The most familiar one for everyone watching was a toad.
Astral Anura grinned. It was finally time for a group assault. When it came to the number of true experts, without mobilizing the entire Spirit Nidus, which group could compare to Boundless?
The Primal Beastland might have many powerful experts, but how many of them had managed to reach the Origin realm?
"Take this!" A steel fork shot down from the sky, straight at Emperor Wu.
He casually swatted the steel fork away, only to suddenly be surrounded by the experts who had descended from above. Chu Yi, Lu Tianyi, Sovereign Dou Sheng, and Astral Anura. Four more experts had appeared, and further bloodlust could be felt from Boundless up above. In particular, Emperor Wu was very leery of the Origin Progenitor’s attention.
Emperor Wu’s expression fell. "Do you want to start a war?"
Chu Yi smiled. "We never said that we would take turns. Of course, if you want a duel, then it’s you alone against all of us."
Emperor Wu clenched his fists in anger. Did Boundless really believe that they could suppress his Primal Beastland? Aside from the Gate of Laws, what other group would dare to claim that they could outnumber the Primal Beastland? On top of that, the old monsters waiting to die in the Gate of Laws were not originally part of the Gate of Laws. Rather, they hailed from the various organizations throughout the Spirit Nidus, as well as independent cultivators. The Primal Beastland had the greatest number of powerhouses.
Emperor Wu wanted to fight a war, but the Origin Progenitor’s aura continued to target him.
There was the Origin Progenitor, Lu Yin, and Yuan Qi... Those three supreme experts made Emperor Wu very nervous.
The Primal Beastland erupted as countless angry roars rang out. "This is despicable, Boundless! You dare to attack the lord of the Primal Beastland? This is war!"
"This is war!"
"This is war!"
...
Yi Die and Jiu Weihu exchanged glances. How had things spiraled out of control so quickly? Even so, Seraph Lu still had not done anything. Was there really going to be a war?
Far away, at the center of the Primal Beastland, close to Emperor Wu’s residence, Wu Ji was terrified. He was trapped and could not escape. All he could do was watch, helpless, as Boundless arrived. He could only watch as Emperor Wu suppressed Boundless’s experts. It took some time, but finally, Wu Ji was able to let out a sigh of relief.
He had no idea what fate awaited him and could only hope that Emperor Wu would defeat Boundless.
Had Wu Ji known how things would turn out, he would have never killed Yue Cheng. Who could have imagined that Yue Cheng would run to the Hundred Grasses Domain? Who could have imagined that dealing with Yue Cheng would cause two of the Grandverse Manor’s people to be involved? Ba Liu? That worthless beast-form Spirit Rebirth had caused so much trouble for Wu Ji even after dying.
Die! It would be best if everyone from Boundless died!
Right in front of Wu Ji, the void twisted, and a figure emerged.
Seeing the newcomer, Wu Ji’s eyes narrowed. "Who are you?"
Countless beast-form Spirit Rebirths across the Primal Beastland roared when they saw Emperor Wu surrounded. They could not tolerate this, no matter how strong Boundless might be.
Yi Die and Jiu Weihu started moving towards Emperor Wu.
Right at that moment, Wu Ji appeared high up in the sky. Instantly, countless eyes stared at him.
Emperor Wu also noticed Wu Ji’s appearance, and seeing him caused Emperor Wu’s expression to change drastically. Endless killing intent blazed in his eyes.
That was because Lu Yin was standing beside Wu Ji.
Lu Yin looked down at the Primal Beastland. "The people from my Grandverse Manor will not die in vain. This is Wu Ji. He killed two of my people from the Grandverse Manor, which is what brought Boundless to the Primal Beastland. I will now deal with him and put this entire matter to rest."
Every eye in the Primal Beastland and the surrounding universes were on Wu Ji. People stared at him with hatred, sympathy, and sorrow. For one of Emperor Wu’s descendants to encounter such a tragic end was certainly something that would go down in history.
Wu Ji screamed in despair, "Lord of the Primal Beastland! My lord! Save me! Ancestor, save me! Ancestor—!"
Lu Yin allowed Wu Ji to continue screaming for help.
Down below, Emperor Wu was completely furious. "Lu Yin, release him!"
Lu Yin sneered as he looked down. "Emperor Wu, I’m helping you. In dealing with him, there will no longer be anything between you and Boundless. All grudges and enmity will be settled, and any remaining disagreements will be mere trivialities."
Emperor Wu was enraged. How would he retain any shred of dignity if Wu Ji was executed right in front of him and so many witnesses?
Old Yu called out, though only Lu Yin could hear him. "Lord Lu, your actions are going against what we previously agreed upon! Why do this?"
Lu Yin pretended not to hear the old man and casually waved his hand. Wu Ji’s head flew off. It slowly fell to the ground as countless onlookers watched in stunned silence.
While Wu Ji was nobody important and his death was insignificant, what mattered was that Lu Yin had killed him in a public manner, openly and brazenly insulting Emperor Wu.
Was this a declaration of war against Emperor Wu?
Emperor Wu's expression turned cold as he was filled with a primal fury. A violent aura shot into the sky.
Lu Yin just looked downwards. Further up, standing above Boundless, the Origin Progenitor’s eyes suddenly flared as he stared at Emperor Wu.
Emperor Wu felt as though there was a blade to his back.
Even if he was not afraid, it was clear that both Lu Yin and the Origin Progenitor were incredible experts, each of whom was individually capable of fighting against Emperor Wu. Neither man was on the same level as Astral Anura or even Wilderness God. These two were even more dangerous than any two Seraphs combined.
With just a little more time, just a bit, Emperor Wu would achieve perfect mastery, and yet he was being forced into a fight before he was prepared.
An endless desire for battle surged within him.
Every beast in the Primal Beastland roared, ready to fight Boundless to the death.
