Chapter 3587: Achieved
Shao Chen had barely made any moves since arriving in the Spirit Nidus. His combat strength was not particularly impressive. After all, he was only a Progenitor, not even a Sequence Progenitor yet. However, his mortal world was something that would capture the attention of any powerful cultivator. When the Spirit Nidus’s vanguard had attacked the Tianyuan Megaverse at the megaverse’s boundary, Shao Chen had forced Bao Qi to enter Dukkha, which had proven to be remarkably effective.
Unfortunately, Shao Chen had not spent much time as a Progenitor. If he had, he might have comprehended a law of the universe, or possibly advanced even further. It was impossible to say how powerful his mortal world would become with the benefit of sequence particles.
Not even listening to the Everstone Discourse had been able to help Shao Chen advance any further. The mortal world was an extremely difficult path to tread.
At one point, Lu Yin had even made it a point to release Wu Jin from his Champions' Stage Purgatory and force the man to share his method of continuing the past to open up the future. Wu Jin had been willing, but Shao Chen had not. In his own words, all happy lives were the same, while each miserable life had its own unique tragedy. The mortal world was not a technique, but rather an experience.
When those words were spoken, Lu Yin had seen how shaken Wu Jin had been. The man continued the past to open the future, which was his method of walking the path of the mortal world, and he could not help but acknowledge Shao Chen’s insights.
Step by step, Shao Chen approached the bow of the battleship. He looked down, and the next moment, a long rainbow rose up from within Wilderness God.
Both he and Emperor Wu turned their heads to look up at the long rainbow. What was this?
They noticed when Shao Chen stepped forward and merged with the rainbow.
Wilderness God’s eyes flashed. “The mortal world?”
Emperor Wu frowned. What he was sensing reminded him of the power of Heavenspire’s Wu Jin. That man followed an inexplicably complex path; could it be the path of the mortal world?
Countless eyes stared at Shao Chen as he stood directly above Wilderness God and entered the rainbow that had risen up from the astral beast’s body. Since the newcomer had stepped out from Boundless, he clearly had no intention of fighting against Wilderness God, but was instead helping him fight against Emperor Wu.
Shao Chen was nothing more than someone at the level of a Spirit Ancestor. What qualified him to join such a battle? Why had no one else appeared from Boundless?
Cultivators who had reached a certain level were able to sense Shao Chen’s cultivation level, but they could not sense that he cultivated the mortal world.
The few who could sense the mortal world grew extremely solemn.
Some cultivators followed paths that were completely different from what most pursued, and they could be extremely difficult paths. However, a breakthrough in such a path could see the path becoming both broader and more resilient.
When Lu Yin had first started comprehending the power of karma, the High Seraph had traveled between megaverses, racing to his megaverse. While Shao Chen’s mortal world was not considered as elite as karma, it was still something that sequence powerhouses and even some Ortusers needed to be wary of in the same way that the High Seraph was wary of karma.
By cultivating the mortal world, Wu Jin had created a reputation for himself as being someone capable of competing for the title of Seraph, and he had used Cheng Gong to pave the way.
Emperor Wu did not hurry to attack. He was able to sense that this was an attempt to enter Dukkha.
One side of his mouth curled upwards as his serrated blade hung downwards. The sharp edge sliced into the ground, and a brief flicker of light caught the reflection of Emperor Wu’s fierce yet slightly expectant expression.
He was a Dukkhan, whereas Wilderness God was still just an Ortuser.
Emperor Wu had actually forgotten that the astral beast that he had been fighting against had been in a lower realm.
It was a ridiculous situation. The illustrious Emperor Wu, the strongest of the Seven Seraphs, had always been the one to challenge those who stood above him. When had anyone ever dared to challenge him with an inferior cultivation realm?
Whether he was in the process of overcoming Dukkha or not, Emperor Wu intended to crush his opponents on an equal level.
If he was scared of Wilderness God’s potential improvement upon entering Dukkha, then even if Emperor Wu prevented the current attempt, Wilderness God would eventually enter Dukkha, and their battle would simply take place later on.
At this thought, Emperor Wu looked up at Boundless and at Lu Yin who stood above the battleship. What level had he reached? He seemed to be nothing more than a Spirit Ancestor, but could that really be true? It was impossible. He had to be at least an Ortuser.
He was another Ortuser.
Suddenly, Emperor Wu caught a glimpse of the Origin Progenitor, and his pupils shrank as he was overcome with an indescribable feeling of nervousness. A cold wave swept over his mind. What was this feeling?
Emperor Wu continued to stare at the Origin Progenitor while tightly squeezing his serrated blade. The effort grew so much that even his breathing turned heavy. This man was a true powerhouse.
Had Boundless really managed to keep such an expert hidden?
Lu Yin looked down at Emperor Wu from high above and smiled. “It seems he’s seen you, Senior.”
The Origin Progenitor just smiled, but he said nothing at all. He merely smiled down at Emperor Wu.
Emperor Wu's expression fell and twisted. There was more than just one supreme powerhouse aboard Boundless. Was this why the High Seraph had not yet made a move?
Emperor Wu had never understood why the High Seraph had never dealt with Boundless. He had originally assumed that the High Seraph intended to use Boundless to deal with the Seven Seraphs and the others, but it suddenly seemed as if Emperor Wu may have been mistaken.
Even Old Yu had not been given an answer, but an answer had just appeared before him.
Two powerful individuals had already been revealed from Boundless, both of whom would be difficult to deal with. And now, a third one had appeared. Emperor Wu looked up at Shao Chen. This man was walking the path of the mortal world. Clearly, the Tianyuan Megaverse could not be underestimated.
The thought of leading an expedition to conquer their megaverse suddenly caused the excitement in his heart to dim considerably.
There was also Yuan Qi.
Emperor Wu's eyes narrowed. Finally, there was an explanation for why Yuan Qi had been controlled by the Tianyuan Megaverse. He had gone to that megaverse long ago to weaken them in advance. What a waste.
Just as that thought passed through Emperor Wu’s mind, Shao Chen returned to Boundless.
As that happened, on the ground below, Wilderness God entered Dukkha.
There was little indication that Wilderness God had entered Dukkha. Much like Bao Qi before, Wilderness God’s aura showed little change.
Lu Yin and many others were carefully observing the astral beast.
"Did he really enter Dukkha?" Ce Wangtian asked in confusion.
Astral Anura rolled his eyes. "When I entered Dukkha, there was a much bigger reaction."
The Origin Progenitor softly commented, "Overcoming Dukkha is a process. Entering Dukkha does not need to cause much of a commotion. Each person is different upon entering Dukkha. On the other hand, leaving Dukkha will create an enormous commotion."
"Obviously," Astral Anura muttered.
Lu Yin glanced at the Origin Progenitor. Leaving Dukkha? Who has ever done that throughout all of history? Master Qing Cao? While no one knew how the man had entered the Immortal realm, the most likely explanation was that he had reset a megaverse.
Anyway, I’ve never heard of anyone actually overcoming Dukkha.
When someone managed to overcome Dukkha and leave it, the commotion would be unimaginable. At that moment, nothing would be able to compare to the event.
"Yellowy has entered Dukkha, but his strength hasn't changed much. It would be best to have him return," Chu Yi said with concern.
The Origin Progenitor nodded. "It's time for him to come back."
Lu Yin peered downwards. Such comments meant nothing if Wilderness God refused, but there was no way they would allow him to die. He had fought his best in this battle.
A familiar voice started speaking, and Lu Yin’s eyes narrowed sharply. "The Origin Progenitor’s Sutra?"
The Origin Progenitor looked taken aback. "He actually learned it?"
Chu Yi grew confused. "He didn’t learn it?"
As the Origin Progenitor’s disciples, all of the Three Realms and Six Daos had been allowed to learn the Origin Progenitor’s Sutra.
Before Lu Yuan learned it, Progenitor Xi had gone to the Lu Sanctum, and the two had fought. That event had forced Lu Yuan to use the Origin Progenitor’s Sutra to compensate for his family’s lack of spiritual force.
As one of the Three Realms and Six Daos, it was only to be expected that Wilderness God had also learned the Origin Sutra.
The Origin Progenitor replied, "I tried to teach him, but at that time, he had just seen the enslavement of astral beasts and resented all humans, so he refused to learn it. It seems that he remembered it, but simply chose to not learn it in front of me."
The Origin Sutra was a comprehensive technique. Lu Yin did not know how to describe it, but his impression of the sutra was that it could compensate for whatever an individual was lacking.
The Lu family had lacked spiritual force, so the Origin Sutra had compensated for that.
Others, like Ancient Gods and Chu Yi, must have had some weakness that they needed shored up, but Lu Yin had never asked about it.
The Origin Progenitor was incredibly talented, and his abilities extended to nearly everything. His own path of cultivation revolved entirely around the Origin Progenitor’s Sutra. He might not be the most powerful combatant, though he certainly did hold that title at one point in time, but his true preference leaned more toward teaching and guiding others.
The Origin Progenitor’s Sutra was his ultimate accomplishment in teaching and guiding others.
During the Everstone Discourse, the Origin Progenitor had recited his own sutra to suppress the enlightenment concerning the Spirit Nidus.
Lu Yin had once considered using the Origin Sutra to offer enlightenment to the entire Tianyuan Megaverse.
What had Wilderness God used the Origin Progenitor’s Sutra to compensate for?
Emperor Wu grew disappointed. "Nothing’s changed. I overestimated you."
Wilderness God continued to recite the Origin Sutra, and his body slowly transformed into the form of a human. He held his Boundless Halberd as he took a step forward to thrust his weapon at Emperor Wu.
Emperor Wu did not understand the Origin Sutra, but he also did not need to. His serrated blade swept out and shattered the Boundless Halberd, slicing through time itself. At that moment, new wounds opened on Wilderness God’s body.
Blood flowed as Wilderness God threw a punch, and Emperor Wu responded in kind. There was a loud crash, and the Primal Beastland trembled. The terrifying power held countless hearts in a vice, shattering them. Many of the people watching vomited blood just from catching a glimpse of the exchange, especially the beast-form Spirit Rebirths from the Primal Beastland. Many of them were obsessed with pursuing power, and were thus more susceptible to backlash.
This was a clash of absolute power.
Emperor Wu staggered two steps back. He was the one who had been overpowered.
How was that even possible?
Emperor Wu swung the serrated blade across again, but this time, Wilderness God did not even bother trying to dodge. The blade sliced across his body, opening up a massive gash. He held his broken halberd and slashed sideways as well, attacking Emperor Wu. Emperor Wu stumbled back and was even spun around. Is his power growing?
The serrated blade slashed out once more, and more blood shot into the sky. Wilderness God raised his hand and slammed it down, slamming Emperor Wu into the ground, the impact opening up fissures in the earth.
Far away, Yi Die’s expression grew serious. "Is Emperor Wu being weakened, or has that astral beast grown stronger?"
Jiu Weihu solemnly replied, "He has entered Dukkha, and his power has grown."
"But his aura didn’t seem to change almost at all when he entered Dukkha."
"He is a Tianyuan cultivator."
No one understood what was happening, aside from the Origin Progenitor.
He knew what was happening. "Yellowy used the Progenitor’s Sutra to enhance his sequence particles. The worse his injuries are, the stronger his sequence particles become."
Sovereign Dou Sheng was taken aback. "Isn’t that similar to my own Triumphant Brawl?"
Lu Yin nodded. "The idea is similar, but you raise your strength through your blood, while he uses sequence particles. If you compare what Wilderness God is doing to your Triumphant Brawl, his sequence particles can last much longer. After all, sequence particles are far more abundant than the blood in a human body."
Sovereign Dou Sheng’s eyes grew feverish as he stared at Wilderness God. A hint of competition appeared in the man’s eyes.
Different from how Triumphant Brawl brought about a slow increase in strength, using the Origin Progenitor’s Sutra to strengthen Wilderness God’s sequence particles had resulted in a quick and massive rise in power.
Emperor Wu shot out of the ground, already swinging his serrated blade. However, Wilderness God just grabbed his opponent’s wrist and punched him in the abdomen. Emperor Wu spat out blood. He had just suffered an injury.
This was the first time that Emperor Wu had been injured since Boundless had entered the Spirit Nidus.
Even Astral Anura’s surprise attack had merely left Emperor Wu disheveled, but there had been no injury. On the other hand, Wilderness God’s punch was an attack that caused Emperor Wu to cough up blood.
For the first time, Wilderness God had obtained an indisputable advantage. He let out a deep growl as he grabbed Emperor Wu and threw him away. His actions were brutal and wild; it was exactly how astral beasts typically fought.
The Origin Progenitor was suddenly reminded of when he had previously clashed with the Primordial Skyflame Beast.
Emperor Wu smashed into the ground, stirring up a cloud of dust and smoke.
The domain fell silent. Emperor Wu had been overpowered.
None of the residents of the Primal Beastland could believe their eyes. They had just watched Emperor Wu be suppressed. Despite seeing it happen for themselves, just who in the entire Spirit Nidus was capable of doing such a thing?
Practically none of the other six Seraphs could fight Emperor Wu one-on-one. His strength and defense were too overwhelming, which meant that several other Seraphs needed to cooperate to give Emperor Wu a real challenge.
But Wilderness God had done so alone.
