Chapter 68: Side Mission: Road To Zombie Emperor (SS+)
Looking at his status screen, Ainsworth knew that despite his awakener rank being labeled as none, his combat power was now comparable to that of a 1-Star B-rank Awakener.
’No matter how difficult this Zombie Apocalypse World is, even if it’s at Unknown Difficulty, it’s still doable as long as I increase my strength to the limit of this world and gain more useful skills from my system. Getting skills from side missions is also an option.’
Having such thoughts, Ainsworth was about to rest when he heard another notification sound in his mind.

[Eleutheron Eclipse has triggered a Side Mission!]

[Side Mission: Road To Zombie Emperor (SS+)]
[Objective: At this point, you should have already become a Zombie King. With that in mind, as a Zombie King, you realize that it’s not the end of your zombie evolution yet. Become a Zombie Emperor and after becoming a Zombie Emperor, expand your Zombie Kingdom into a Zombie Empire.]
[Alternative Objective: Tell your controlled Zombie King to work harder and let it evolve into a Zombie Emperor. As long as your control over them doesn’t weaken when they become a Zombie Emperor and establish a Zombie Empire, the side mission will still be considered complete.]
[Rewards: Improvement of otherworld mission score (Will be graded after all the main missions are completed), SS-rank Skill Book (One per member of the team, tailored to suit the member’s needs), D+ Stat Crystal x15]
[Time Limit: None]
[Note: This is a progression-based side mission. After completing this side mission, depending on your team’s progress, you may or may not trigger another side mission related to this.]
[Note 2: For any more questions, just ask the Voice Of The World. I look forward to your team’s accomplishment in this world. Currently, your otherworld team has the highest possibility of conquering this world and obtaining its ownership.]

[Does your team want to accept the Side Mission with a difficulty of SS+ Grade?]
[Yes] | [No]
When he received that side mission notification from the Voice of The World, Ainsworth read it thoroughly and after seeing the rewards, he sighed in relief, "Finally! The problem of Dante and Rian having low stat attributes has been solved."
"With D+ grade stat crystals, they’ll be able to raise any single stat attribute they have aside from Luck, Charm, and Spirit to D+ grade. I don’t need such stat crystals as it’s too low-grade but Rian and Dante highly need it."
"I’ve already asked Rian and Dante about their stats and their highest stat is only at E+ while the lowest is E-. With this, they can have the stats of a Three-Star D-rank Awakener so I wouldn’t have to worry about them being far weaker than me. The stronger they become, the more relevant they are to my plans."
Ainsworth knew that stat crystals were very valuable in the sense that stat crystals obtained from side missions during an Otherworld Mission could be used regardless of the Awakener’s rank.
Back on Earth, there were SS-grade stat crystals for sale. Even Elyndra would have access to an SSS-grade stat crystal if the Valtoria Empire gave her such a valuable resource.
Yet, stat crystals have one downside. Awakeners could only use stat crystals proportional to their Awakener rank. For example, an A+ Grade Stat Crystal could only be used by a Three-Star A-rank Awakener.
The reason behind that was due to it being the world rules of Earth. Just like how mages in a Fantasy World would need mana and an incantation to use magic, Earth also has its set of world rules that allow it to operate orderly.
An exception to that was stat crystals obtained from side missions due to one reason. The Earth Will itself would use the world origin obtained from the side mission to not only create the stat crystal but also remove the need for such world rules.
The Earth Will only added that world rule merely to prevent Awakeners from abusing their money and privilege to gain stats higher than their rank. It would prevent an F-rank Awakener from having SSS+ stats just because that F-rank Awakener had a father who was an SSS-rank Awakener.
Of course, the Earth Will didn’t create such a world rule to impose equality. It could care less about such a concept that only mortals would value.
In the early years of the Awakener Era, the Earth Will didn’t impose that world rule and because of that, it got out of hand when Awakeners bit off more than they could chew.
Since S-rank Awakeners and above would have a higher chance of competing with other Otherworlders from top forces like the Main God Space and Reincarnation Paradise, those awakeners with weak classes yet had high stats couldn’t even use their own power properly.
When such weaklings became S-rank Awakeners and fought against Otherworlders from the Main God Space, they even died despite their power being the same as that Otherworlder. They lost due to skill issue.
The Earth Will didn’t want its Awakeners to die needlessly so such world rule was imposed. Because of that, the Awakener Rank was important not only to have privilege in Otherworld Missions but also to use stat crystals proportional to that Awakener Rank.
There were exceptions who could gain stats higher than their Awakener Rank such as Awakeners with special classes that allowed them to achieve that, such as Ainsworth using his Freedom Freelancer class to make all his stats aside from Charm, Luck, and Spirit equal to each other.
Because of that, when he received the S-rank Evolver sub-class and could use the resources of the Zombie Apocalypse World despite not being a native of this world, he obtained stats higher than his Awakener Rank.
Thinking about that, Ainsworth pondered, ’I don’t have to worry about getting stats higher than my Awakener Rank and it becoming a burden due to lack of control or skill issue.’
’After all, I lack power, not skill. Even if I was given god-level power, I’d still be able to control it well due to my God-Level Talents.’
’As long as I use the combat method of a chef using my God-Level Cooking Talent, I can even cook the entire universe or butcher a universe-level creature. However, I can’t do that right now as I lack the power to do so, but not the skill.’
Because of that, Ainsworth had wantonly absorbed Solar Moon crystals to improve his stats yet he wasn’t worried about his power being too high that it became a burden.
’Although I don’t need stat crystals, since Rian and Dante could make use of it, then I should accept the side mission. I can just allocate more resources to Kyle and let him become a Zombie Emperor so completing the SS+ Grade Road To Zombie Emperor side mission is feasible.’
’And besides, it’s only due to this Otherworld Mission difficulty being at Unknown Difficulty that the rewards are these lucrative. If this was Hell Difficulty, the D+ Grade Stat Crystals wouldn’t be this many. Even three SS-rank Skill Books wouldn’t be given as a reward and at most, only one SS-rank Skill Book.’
With that in mind, Ainsworth didn’t have much reason to refuse such an "easy" to complete side mission.
But before he could accept the side mission, he heard another notification sound but this time, it didn’t come from the Voice of The World.

[(2) Refuse the Side Mission: Road To Zombie Emperor (SS+)
(Reward: Herbal Proficiency (C) is upgraded to Herb Mastery (SS))]
[(3) Choose none of the given options and choose your own path.
(Reward: None)]
His surroundings halted in time after those choices were presented to him.
Knowing that it was another choice event from his God-Level Choice System, Ainsworth didn’t hesitate to choose Option 1.
Regardless of the reward of Option 2, he needed to accept the Side Mission since it was not only to increase his otherworld mission score but also to assist Rian and Dante. Refusal of a side mission with lucrative rewards yet was easy to accomplish would be a foolish choice.
Deciding on Choice 1, time resumed, and Ainsworth immediately pressed the [Yes] button.

[Eleutheron Eclipse has accepted the Side Mission: Road To Zombie Emperor (SS+)!]
After Ainsworth accepted the side mission, he received the Choice 1 reward, so he immediately used it, upgrading his Presence Concealment (A) skill to Unremarkable Presence (SS).
Wanting to test his Unremarkable Presence (SS) skill, Ainsworth activated it and walked leisurely outside.
When he passed by the survivors as well as even those soldiers who were patrolling, they didn’t even notice him. Even when Ainsworth stood in front of them and made funny faces to annoy them, they didn’t respond as if they couldn’t see him.
Observing their reaction, Ainsworth thought, ’It seems that either my concealment is too good or they are too weak to determine my presence.’
While Ainsworth was testing his newly upgraded skill, he stopped in his tracks when he heard a notification sound.
