A moment ago, they’d been ready to abandon Fort Echo-7. Now, they were still alive.

The same man who they only knew by the alias he gave: Arthur.

And Arthur... smiled.

His smile wasn’t as bright as the sun at noon. However, it was as bright as the sun on sunrise, a shining light signaling beginning and hope.

They couldn’t help but be entranced by it. Their hearts that had been perforated by the holes of loss and grief had been healed by his sunny smile as if it assured them that everything was alright.

He took a few casual steps forward as if he hadn’t just erased a wave of Normal-rank and Elite-rank zombies by himself.

And when Ainsworth did, the sunlight seemed to illuminate him like some kind of savior. It contrasted with the dark and grim aftermath of the battlefield.

With his casual stride and the sun giving him a spotlight, as well as his God-Level Charm, everyone on the battlefield couldn’t take their eyes off him.

"Maybe it was your friend. Your squad. A comrade you never even got to say goodbye to."

"I came here because I heard the cries of a collapsing defense line. I saw lives that were on the edge of being extinguished. I didn’t come because I was ordered. I didn’t come because I had to."

"I came because I couldn’t ignore it."

There was no noise, only the wind blowing gently across the battered outpost.

"When I see people fighting for their homes... for their loved ones... I remember what we’ve lost. What we still have to protect."

A beat later, others joined in.

The chant spread through Fort Echo-7 like wildfire.

There were no more doubts. They no longer hesitated. Whether they realized it or not, they’d already crossed the line.

His words weren’t just words. They were commands dressed as comfort. Promises backed by something they couldn’t explain. And by the time they noticed, it was already too late.

Every soldier, every survivor...

All had become his.

And Ainsworth?

He stood there in silence, letting the cheers rain down on him.

The entire fort was his now.

He kept up the facade of a hero. But deep in his mind, he already started detonating the father zombie virus within their body.

This time, he planned to make all of them become evolvers as they would be his chess pieces in human society. After all, the Church of Evolution couldn’t be said to be usable in human society as they would be labeled as cultists and fanatics for those who weren’t converted to his religion yet.

On the other hand, those in Fort Echo-7 were quite useful as the leader of the base as well as his assistants were from the military. As long as Captain Rourke visited other military bases and spread the father zombie virus, it wouldn’t be long before all of the humans in this country would be integrated into his Hive Mind.

After Ainsworth detonated the father zombie virus, everyone in Fort Echo-7 not only became evolvers but also became part of Hive Mind.

Coupled with the speech he made that swayed everyone’s hearts and gained their undying loyalty, Ainsworth now controlled everyone on Fort Echo-7 externally and internally.

Even if the father zombie virus was removed from their bodies and they were snapped out of the Hive Mind, they would still be loyal to him regardless of those influences.

After assisting Captain Rourke and the soldiers in cleaning up the battlefield, Ainsworth, Rian, and Dante soon returned to their assigned quarters.

Or rather, the delay of the side mission completion notification was merely the Earth Will securing the world origin that was plundered from disrupting the world line.
