SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God -
Chapter 174: BOOM
Chapter 174: BOOM
"Taking these things down one by one is not going to work. I need to increase the speed." Damon climbed back up the corridor, only to find that the golems could easily roll along the walls as well, climbing with no effort at all. The height was not going to give him an advantage for long.
He immediately shifted to a new tactic. There was no point in targeting these nut machines one by one. They all wanted to self-destruct and take him down along with them, so he might as well help them achieve their goal together.
The golems all moved together, and this gave Damon his biggest advantage. He selected four golems in the middle and then aimed for them. With successive power-packed fireballs, he launched his barrage straight at the cluster’s heart.
The first explosion was massive. But it wasn’t just the firepower that mattered, it was the chain reaction that followed.
The moment the central four were hit, their unstable cores began to implode, dragging the surrounding mechs toward them with brutal suction.
Damon grinned. "Eat each other, you freaks," he growled, watching the chaos spiral."So long mother fuckers!" He did not wait around to take a portion of the damage and quickly made his way through the corridor. However, he only barely took a few miles when a massive shockwave rippled everywhere.
The corridor flashed in a dance of blue-violet implosions, the resulting shockwaves merging, magnifying, and then finally collapsing into a singular, explosive pulse. The metallic corridor cracked, dents and warps distorting its once-perfect symmetry.
The metallic walls that looked absolutely indestructible did not look so powerful anymore as an entire section peeled away, the wall itself breaking apart.
Damon was thrown back again, but this time he rode the impact, flipping mid-air and skidding to a halt on one knee, breathing heavily, his hand instinctively drawing blood to reform his shield.
Unfortunately, it was completely useless. The explosion, or rather implosion, was so extreme that the distance he put between himself and the chaos was simply not enough.
He staggered to his feet, stumbling forward with a curse. But an intense gravitational force pulled him back like an invisible hand had wrapped around his chest and yanked.
Damon slammed into the floor hard, dragged backward by the lingering singularity at the heart of the implosion zone. The pressure warped the air itself, distorting space in flickering pulses. Even his blood refused to flow properly for a moment, sucked outward, called by something unnatural. Something that shouldn’t exist.
He activated Shadowstep on instinct, aiming for the far end of the corridor, but the skill fizzled out the moment it triggered, warped mid-cast, and flung him sideways into the wall with a bone-jarring thud.
That was still not enough to escape the suction. The damn thing was grabbing him like a blackhole. He unleashed everything he had in his arsenal. He gulped down a few potions, activated his innate strength, and both his mana and blood energy were in overdrive, but nothing was working. Nothing was enough.
Damon could literally see the black hole that had formed and was now sucking everything in sight. Even the pieces of metallic wall were tearing apart and being pulled into the black hole.
Blood Reign screamed in his mind even without him asking for her help. "That is a void hole! Damon, get out of here! You cannot survive a void hole! You are not strong enough to go anywhere near a void!"
Damon gritted his teeth. He knew that much damn it. He was trying. He was already trying everything he had, and nothing was working.
But right at this moment, something happened. Something completely unexpected. The wall at the other side of the corridor had peeled away so much that for a second, the freezing chill of the outside permeated the sterile environment of the inside.
There was finally a real break! A real break from this goddamned prison!
Damon grinned. He had tried to outsmart this bastard and attacked the self-detonating golems together thereby shooting himself in the ass but it turned out there was another twist. The other guy had also shot himself in the ass finally leaking a loophole to get out of this place.
Even in this danger, there was opportunity!
"Why are you smiling, you lunatic! Let’s get out of here! Run! Run! Run!" Blood Reign sounded genuinely worried.
Damon gritted his teeth and gave it another try. This time, he did not try to outrun the black hole. He only tried to reduce the speed at which the damn thing was pulling him. He did not need to outrun the situation at all, which was pretty much impossible.
He just needed to run faster than the other guy, which was the wall in this case. As long as he could survive until the wall collapsed, he could get the hell out of here!
Damon plunged his clawed fingers into the metal beneath him, dragging himself forward inch by inch as the void behind him howled like a hungry god.
Shards of metal, shattered golem limbs, and even residual mana spiraled past him into the singularity. His legs barely held, every tendon screaming, blood surging through him like magma as he activated everything. He emptied more and more highly valuable potion bottles. He threw everything he had at the damn thing.
The wall behind him gave a groan. Another chunk peeled away. He could feel the cold air outside flooding in, like a breath from salvation.
"Just a little more...!" he growled, each step powered by sheer stubbornness and the hatred of failing yet again.
And then, it happened.
A blinging white ball of radiance hit the wall, and the wall finally gave in with a screech, and the vacuum of the void was countered, just enough, for the outer atmosphere to intervene. The corridor’s internal pressure equalized for a split second, and Damon leapt.
Not with grace. Not with power. It was a savage, desperate launch as he shot through the breach. Behind him, the void roared, furious and betrayed.
And then the entire corridor collapsed inward with a thunderclap that silenced everything.
