Chapter 143: Frostbite and Fury

The calming and heartfelt moment that Leo was having when he felt the chill in the air. Slowly turning his head, he saw Luna standing on the porch with her arms crossed glaring in his direction. More specifically she was glaring at Crystal.

"What are you doing here?"

Luna’s voice came out like a feral growl. Aria and Adam on either side of her looked a bit unnerved. Behind Luna’s back, Adam made a praying motion in Leo’s direction while Aria had a sheepish grin as she scratched her cheek with a finger.

When Leo was about to speak to his sister, Crystal stepped forward and returned the glare with a frosty one of her own.

"I was invited. Is that a problem Sister?"

Luna’s brow twitched as she slowly approached.

"I ain’t your Sister Frosty the Snow Bitch!"

"Sis?! There’s no need to act like this!"

Leo’s body shook like a leaf in the wind as he forgot one very important detail: Luna and Crystal did not get along. They were like oil and water, there was bound to be danger.

’Shit! I hope nobody takes it too far’

Crystal put a hand on her cheek with a small look of mock shock flickering on her face.

"Oh my! I was just joking around Luna. I didn’t expect for it to fall that flat but..."

She glanced deliberately towards Luna’s chest before moving her gaze back up to her face

"Looking at you, I can understand why it would with you."

Silence. Leo blanched at Crystal’s remark and Adam in the distance was trembling, both in fear and amusement. Honestly he wanted a bucket of popcorn to watch what was about to happen.

’Oh my fucking god! Somebody might die! I gotta do something!’

Luna’s gaze became murderous as she glanced over Crystal’s attire before she snarled back.

"Brave words. I see you are dressed to do your usual tactic: Running away."

Crystal’s jaw tightened as Luna’s words struck a nerve.

"Run? When did I ever run? The real coward is the one who hid the truth in order to keep me away!"

Luna tilted her head before snorting in retort

"Now you’re resorting to lies? You’ll make a great politician!"

Crystal was fuming but something wasn’t adding up.

"Wait... Why did you think that I ran away?"

Luna frowned as she immediately replied

"Cause you claimed to care about him but you never came to visit the hospital once? Was the fight you two had so petty that you would rather let him die than settle your differences?"

Crystal immediately understood what happened. She shot a glare towards Leo as she spoke slowly.

"I did not know he was sick. He just disappeared one day and you never told me he was in the hospital."

Luna was doubtful but she chose to believe her this one time. If she truly didn’t know that he was sick, who had told Luna that they had told Crystal? Putting two and two together, Luna’s gaze shifted to Leo who was beginning to look more and more nervous.

"You said that she knew you were in the hospital."

Hissed Luna, all of her anger towards Crystal had naturally shifted to Leo.

Feeling the icy and fiery gazes locked on him, Leo took a couple of steps back in fear.

"I-I will be right back! I have to use the...bathroom? Yeah I have to use the bathroom!"

With that said, he quickly turned around and immediately fled towards the house, leaving the two girls out on the lawn at a loss for words.

As Leo rushed past Adam and Aria, Leo heard a soft whisper from Adam.

"It was nice knowing you. I will give you a great eulogy."

’You’re so helpful asshole!’

Leo growled to himself, vowing he would remember this if he survived this.

Aria let out a soft giggle but wisely decided to not get involved and entered the house, looking for Lily and Rachel who should be around.

Meanwhile, Crystal and Luna were still glaring at each other but they didn’t say anything. After a moment, Luna opened her mouth

"So we are in agreement?"

Crystal nodded her head somewhat hesitantly.

"Yes we are.."

A moment of silence followed before they opened their mouths and simultaneously declared:

"This is all Leo’s fault!"

Adam was stunned as he watched the two who had just been arguing start to chuckle before they briefly hugged each other.

He shook his head in exasperation. Didn’t they hate each other? Why did they hug?

"Ooh~! Girl Hug? Can we make it a Group Hug!"

The energetic voice of Rachel called out as she exited out onto the porch. Adam glanced at the monkey ears on her head and the fuzzy object wrapped around her waist and came to the immediate conclusion that she had indeed mutated but seemed to be taking it in stride.

Lily also casually strolled out onto the porch with a bag of chips in hand. Seeing the unfamiliar girl hugging her best friend who usually didn’t condone hugs, she narrowed her eyes and asked

"Luna? Who is this girl? How come I have never seen her before?"

Luna had a faint smile on her face as she replied

"I have spoken about her before Lily, This is Crystal."

Lily’s eyes opened wide as she looked shocked.

"You mean that Crystal? The one you said that you hated with the fury of a 1000 suns?"

Crystal shot a questioning gaze towards Luna who awkwardly faked a cough.

"Ahem! It seems that was a misunderstanding. We got along before–"

"To a degree"

Crystal interrupted with a nod of her head towards the unfamiliar two girls that had walked out of the house.

"However we had a falling out when Leo got sick. Apparently he told Luna that he told me that he was sick but he didn’t tell me anything. The jerk."

Crystal finished the explanation while Luna nodded her head in agreement, crossing her arms in annoyance. Crystal eyed the group and asked something that was bothering her.

"Is it just me or is the gender ratio here really skewed?"

Adam scratched his head and replied

"Not sure how that happened but Leo and I are the only guys in the group...besides Moku. But he shouldn’t count Lily"

He made a concession when Lily started glaring at him with slightly puffed cheeks. However his face paled when from the depths of the house, Aria’s voice could be heard clearly as if carried on the wind.

"Well if it was an hour ago, Leo was the only male in the group"

Hearing that, Rachel’s eyes shimmered with mischievous delight as a wide grin spread on her face.

"Oh I gotta know more about this! Spill the T Adam! I want all the details!"

He could only sigh and shout in his heart

’Fuck you Aria’
