Chapter 144: Snackrifice

Adam felt like he was going to go insane as he faced the combined stares of the girls whose expressions ranged from disgust all the way to borderline unhinged amusement. Or perhaps he had already gone insane as reality began to make less and less sense to him.

"Spill it! How did you do it? How did you become a girl?"

Rachel pestered as she reached out and nudged Adam with her elbow, trying to learn what had happened when he was with Aria. Adam frowned as he shot a glare in her direction.

"I have no clue how. Arachne took over my body and apparently she did something. All I know is that whatever she did hurt like hell!"

He hissed with annoyance, wanting to escape into the house, he turned his back to run only to be grabbed by the collar of his shirt by Luna, stopping him dead in his tracks.

"Where do you think you’re going?"

She growled as Adam turned his head to glare at her. He saw that her eyes were gleaming with quiet amusement but it was most likely in relation to the situation he was in rather than the fact he had somehow become a woman for a short period.

"I am going to go in and rest? Maybe raid your fridge for some food? I haven’t eaten anything other than the food you made in-game. I’m starving."

He looked fed up with the whole situation as Luna let go of his collar. She kind of felt bad for anyone who had yet to eat but still had a half a mind to interrogate him for details after he was done. Trying to straighten his collar, Adam was about to enter the house when Lily blocked his path with her hands on her hips.

"Just so you know Buster. My secret stash is off limits!"

Adam cocked his head to the side as the short green haired girl angrily glared at him, emitting the intimidation equivalent of an angry hamster. Needless to say, Adam was not scared in the slightest and rolled his eyes in exasperation before he sidestepped her and entered the house.

"They’re in the cupboard above the fridge."

"LUNA!"

Lily’s scream of betrayal at her best friend revealing the location of her hidden stash of snacks was filled with disbelief and pain. Luna however seemed unphased as she entered the house after Adam.

"I told you no desserts for a week. You buy a bunch of sugary crap, of course I will give it away to others. You coming Crystal?"

Luna’s gaze turned to Crystal who was beginning to feel extremely awkward followed Luna inside after a simple nod of her head. Rachel covered her mouth, snickering

"Luna sure snacked you huh~?"

The pun was only adding salt to the wound as Lily herself wanted to cry. Her sacred snacks were about to be defiled by the heathens who had no appreciation for the sweeter things in life.

Muttering curses under her breath, she trudged back into the home while Rachel waited outside for a moment longer. She glanced at the variety of cars parked near the house before pulling out her phone and sending a simple text.

She then slipped the phone back into her pocket before entering the house, closing the door with a flick of her tail. As soon as she heard the soft click of the door closing, she heard someone crying.

Following the source of the noise, she found Lily on her knees sobbing as Aria, Crystal and Adam were munching on different snacks.

"My Oreos...Dunkaroos...Even the Cream Puffs?!"

Aria was gingerly munching on a cream puff and was clearly caught off guard by Lily’s overly dramatic response to someone eating her snacks. Adam was slumped in a chair as he lazily crunched on his iconic cookies. Crystal on the other hand was eagerly dunking her snack into the frosting like it was a cherished treat.

While she was not outwardly expressing her delight, the air around her seemed to become slightly lighter and fluffier, as if her aura had brightened or something. Rachel couldn’t quite comprehend how she was able to notice the change.

As she looked around the room, Rachel tilted her head and asked

"Where’s Cutie? Did he really chicken out? Is Bunny chasing him down~?"

Aria put down the cream puff and had a sheepish smile on her face

"I think he is barricading himself in the bathroom. He is afraid of facing Luna’s wrath I think."

Adam bit an Oreo in half as he chimed in with a half formed smirk.

"As he should be. Luna is terrifying when she is pissed. Honestly I am surprised you could stand toe to toe with her Empress."

Rachel didn’t stop eating the dunkaroos, choosing to willfully ignore Adam as if she hadn’t heard him speak. For some reason, something about the man irritated her. Something in her deep down told her that they were the same, people who wore a mask to conceal themselves and she was not okay with that.

Aria having finished her cream puff got up and slowly approached Lily, patting her gently on her back

"It’s okay Lily...It’s not like we hurt you or anything. We can always buy you more"

"Hurt me?! You might as well save yourselves the trouble and kill me now!"

Lily hissed through her tears as she hugged some discarded candy wrappers to her chest. Aria was confused and couldn’t help but mutter

"Why are you crying like this? It’s just snacks.."

Lily sniffled.

"Snacks are my spirit animals..."

There was a sharp bang from the hallway, followed by a muffled curse.

Rachel perked up.

"Oh? Sounds like our little cutie finally made a move. Wanna take bets on whether he makes it past the living room?"

The door creaked open and a very cautious Leo peeked into the room, looking like someone preparing to flee at a moment’s notice.

"...Is she still mad?"
