Chapter 95
Chapter 95: Chapter 95
The imperial guards all looked away, trying not to laugh, while the students looked stunned at Luan, who was now standing in front of Mateo.
Abigail, on the other hand, was seething with rage, clutching her fists until her knuckles turned white.
"Bastard!" she grumbled through gritted teeth.
Benjamin was speechless as well. ’Seems like my sister is going to have a tough time,’ he mused, not really minding it. As long as Luan was useful for the empire, that was all that mattered, and his mother had never been wrong.
Meanwhile, Luan stood in front of Mateo, his spirits floating around him, invisible to anyone but him.
With that signature grin on his face, eagerly awaiting what was to come.
"Are you ready?" Mateo asked, narrowing his eyes as he glanced at Luan. He had heard what he just said, and he must admit this guy was brave.
Talking to Abigail like that, when he first met her, he was very cautious around her, making sure not to call her any weird names and being respectful, but after working together for some years, he had grown accustomed to her strict attitude.
But this guy just kept pushing her buttons; if he passed these exams, she would most definitely have it out for him.
"Born ready," Luan casually replied, his earlier nonchalance vanished as it was replaced with an intense fighting spirit and an indescribable aura that was coming from him.
Then Mateo snapped his fingers. "Let’s go then!" he shouted, and just like that he dashed forward, rushing straight at Luan.
But he stayed calm, and with a single stomp on the ground, a massive wall appeared between himself and Mateo.
Then the next second he merged with Vira, boosting his physical prowess to its absolute peak. He knew he had to go all out from the beginning; the Alderon bloodline was one that was basically born to fight.
Their physical prowess was so overwhelming that Luan could not afford to underestimate him, or he would be done in in a couple of seconds.
Mateo broke through the earth wall like it was made of butter and aimed straight for Luan’s stomach.
But with Vira’s enhancement, he could barely keep up with Mateo’s speed as he dodged one punch after the other; constantly being pushed back, he had to do something.
With a snap of his finger, earthen spikes shot out of the ground, aiming for Mateo’s calves to incapacitate him temporarily.
But he seemed to see it coming as he jumped up high into the air, and with a grin on his face, his hands turned into animal paws with long crimson nails sticking out from them.
His whole head turning into a crimson lion’s head, his long crimson hair turning into a beautiful crimson mane.
Luan looked up in awe as the earlier Mateo turned into half human, half lion and landed on the ground, crushing all the spikes he had formed earlier.
"Playtime is over," Mateo casually said, with a ferocious look in his eyes.
With a true predator’s look, Luan knew he couldn’t afford to hold any punches, or he would no doubt get demolished.
Mateo casually took a stance, ready to pounce on Luan, but instead of attacking immediately, he gave Luan some time to prepare; it was still just a test, after all.
Luan didn’t hesitate a second, forming two swords made out of pure energy. After Vira had evolved, he had been trying to find out what had changed, and one of those changes was these weapons formed out of pure energy.
These weapons were dangerous, but Mateo didn’t care at all. The moment he saw those weapons, he disappeared from Luan’s sight. Leaving a huge dent in the training platform because of the force he had used to propel his body forward.
Cold sweat dripped from Luan’s forehead; he couldn’t follow Mateo’s movements at all, so he had no choice but to prepare for the worst. Forming water spears and throwing them in all directions, he tried to locate Mateo.
Suddenly his whole body flew across the platform; almost losing consciousness, he stopped himself by forming an earth wall and crashing into it full force.
"Kughh!" he grunted as blood dripped down the side of his mouth and his eyes were bloodshot.
That hit just now was no joke. He had flown meters on end; if he hadn’t stopped himself, he had no idea how much longer he would have been flung away.
"Not bad," he suddenly heard, but still no sight of Mateo. It was like he was either invisible or so fast that he couldn’t follow his movements.
This time Luan chose another approach, forming tiny water droplets everywhere for tens of meters around him, and using this method he finally felt it: Mateo wasn’t invisible at all; he was just moving so fast that Luan couldn’t see him.
"Damn," he muttered, wiping the blood off the corner of his mouth.
Then he focused purely on the water droplets to make sure Mateo wouldn’t be able to surprise-hit him like that anymore, tightly grasping the two swords, he morphed them into daggers to be able to slash faster.
If he wanted to land a hit on him, he would have to put his everything into speed; attacking with an axe or anything large would be impossible—he was just too fast for that.
Then Mateo stopped right in front of him and aimed for a punch straight into his stomach, but contrary to his expectations, he phased straight through Luan’s body, shattering the earthen wall behind him.
"What?" he muttered, but before he could react, Luan slashed downward with all his might.
Clang!
An awful sound was heard throughout the training ground. Everyone covered their ears, but the clash was so loud that everyone’s ears were ringing, including Luan’s and Mateo’s, who both fell to the ground holding their heads in pain.
"What the hell are you made out of, steel?" Luan complained, rolling and turning as his ears kept ringing.
Mateo slowly got up. "Well, yeah, I wasn’t expecting my punch to go straight through you, but damn, good job," he said, giving him a thumbs-up.
