Sigil Online: I became the duke's third son -
Chapter 76
Chapter 76: Chapter 76
The meal concluded in a relaxed atmosphere, and Drago turned toward Liana.
"We have prepared a room for you so you can rest up and be in the best possible condition for tomorrow’s meeting," he politely stated, and right after the head maid Kayla bowed deeply.
"Please follow me, Your Highness."
"Thank you, Lord Drago," Liana replied, standing up and following Kayla with all the royal guards and her attendants surrounding her.
Seeing the whole entourage leaving the room, Kael heaved a sigh of relief. "That was intense; I don’t know if I would be able to handle all that," he muttered while staring at the now closed door.
Drago looked at his son. "That’s how it is. Marrying an imperial has a lot of benefits but also a lot of negatives, like that," he said, a sigh escaping from his mouth.
"But she was really beautiful; no wonder she is the Empress’s daughter. They’re both absolute beauties," Kael stated, with a dreamy look on his face.
Drago and his two wives nodded along; she was a true beauty. Her manners were immaculate as well.
Just thinking about the contrast to Luan, Drago felt regretful. "Hah, I don’t see them being a good match," he muttered.
Hana just smiled, not engaging her husband’s complaining. She trusted her son, and even if he did act rather wild at moments, she was certain he had his own goals, and if marrying the princess would help him realize those.
It would happen; with a smile on her face, she stood up and quietly left the room. Nodding at the onlooking Selis. She mouthed something to Selis that Kael and Drago didn’t notice, but the moment she saw what Hana had mouthed,
Her expression brightened significantly. "Thank you!" she mouthed back with a small nod of genuine gratitude.
And just like that, Hana left the room, going toward her own room, followed by her two personal maids.
"We have a lot to do," she muttered.
The two maids nodded, and they promptly made their way through the castle.
Liana sat down behind the desk in the room the servants had prepared for her. "Let’s go over it once more. Tell me everything we currently know about him, even vague rumors. I need to succeed in this," she said with a determined look in her eyes.
Her esteemed mother had given her this task and even sent Anna along with her; this showed how important this marriage was to her. She had no idea why, but she trusted her mother’s judgment; she had never been wrong.
Anna took the notes once more and started reading everything to Liana, who made sure she caught every single word.
Like that, the evening passed in a blur. Liana was busy preparing for the upcoming meeting together with her two attendants.
The next morning she was woken up by Eva, and as she rubbed her eyes a couple of times, she stretched her whole body like a cat.
"Good morning," she groggily said, looking around the room in a daze.
"Good morning, my lady," Eva and Anna greeted her energetically.
Liana, on the other hand, was barely awake, her eyes closing only to shoot open a moment later. After a couple of times of this repeating, she finally got out of bed and had Eva and Anna dress her and brush her hair.
"So when do I go and meet him?" she quietly inquired, while Anna was busy brushing her hair and Eva was helping her.
"It’s in the morning, so it should be soon," Anna said after thinking a while.
Liana’s eyes shot open, and for the first time she didn’t look composed, her eyes darting around the room nervously.
"Eva! The notes," she ordered, pointing at the notes they had gone over hundreds of times last night.
Eva quickly grabbed the notes and handed them to her; after that, she went back to helping Anna brush her hair.
Right at the top of the notes stood one sentence in large, bold letters: "Beautiful women," Liana mumbled as she read it.
That was the current biggest weakness known about Luan Meskevela; the information network her mother had built up over the years was used to its fullest extent to gather all this.
Liana sighed, ’What does that even mean?’ she thought. Even though she knew perfectly what it meant, she didn’t want to believe it.
She only had to use her charms as a beautiful woman to make this succeed? That’s not the kind of man she wanted to marry, even though she would, of course, still go through with it because her mother had ordered her to.
"Is everything alright, my lady?" Eva carefully inquired, hearing Liana sigh like that.
"Eva, what do you think about this Luan Meskevela?" Liana asked her suddenly.
Eva’s eyes widened. "Um, from what I’ve heard about him, he seems to be, well, how do I say it? Not the brightest and very eccentric. But! Maybe that’s what he wants people to think," she said, trying to reassure Liana.
Anna then chimed in. "I heard he is very handsome, especially after he awakened his sigils," she said with a dreamy look on her face.
Liana and Eva both chuckled at her words, and finally the two were done brushing Liana’s hair.
"You look beautiful, my lady," the two said in unison, giving her a thumbs-up.
"Thanks, now let’s focus on the task at hand," Liana said, clapping her hands.
Liana took a seat behind her desk once more with the two attendants standing in front of her, and they kept thinking of ways to make sure this engagement would happen.
After an hour of this, they suddenly heard someone knock. "My lady, it’s time. Are you ready?" They heard David say through the door.
Kaida is Riven’s mother edited by now but just leaving this not here.
