Sigil Online: I became the duke's third son -
Chapter 67
Chapter 67: Chapter 67
Two weeks quickly passed as Luan and his entourage were rushing back home. He had to stop himself from hunting too much to make sure they wouldn’t delay the travels too much.
But today he had decided to take a break also because Bart was going crazy staying inside the carriage all day and night.
So the servants had set up a whole camp outside, and Luan was lazily lounging in a chair, half dozing off.
Ava was helping the horses relax. Kian, Kafele, Luciano, and the spirit guardians each stood positioned so nothing could sneak through them and attack Luan or any of the girls.
"I wish we could take it slow, but if we arrive too late, I don’t know how Mother will react," Luan mumbled, his displeasure evident.
Bart was running around like a madman, hunting and devouring anything he could. Luan just smiled when he saw the rather large wolf return with a fully red pelt.
The maids looked at the wolf in absolute horror, and Luan let it hug him completely, smearing his clothes with all the blood on the wolf.
"Are you happy now?" Luan asked the wolf. That lay next to him, staring at nothing in particular.
And while he didn’t expect Bart to understand, he seemed to nod. Luan just dismissed it.
And while lazing around, he let the spirits, except Vira, who was still inside the mark, fly around freely.
Clover and Samantha were cooking together with all the wild animals Luan had hunted the last couple of days; the maids were swamped with work.
Skinning all the dead animals and preparing them so they could be used as ingredients and butchering the monsters as well.
They kept complaining to Luan that he was doing too much or he should at least help with the aftermath of the messes he creates.
And after days of this, they finally saw a change. Luan no longer hunted every day and hunted everything he could find; now he was careful to only go out to hunt once every three days and not hunt just to hunt.
He carefully thought about what they would need for consumption, and the workload of the maids lessened significantly.
"My lord, the food is almost ready," Clover shouted from the tent where she and Samantha were cooking.
The smell of delicious food drifted throughout the whole camp, and everyone stopped what they were doing and followed the scent, taking a seat at the table. They all patiently waited for the food to be served.
Even Bart, who seemed full earlier, sat next to Luan, wagging his tail.
Seeing that everyone chuckled, except Luan, of course. "Greedy bastard," he muttered but still made Tokiko grab an extra plate and place it next to him.
Even though she was afraid of the rather intimidating wolf, seeing it act like a dog next to Luan, she carefully put the plate next to him and tiptoed away.
Only after taking a seat once more next to Celia and Rania did she heave a sigh of relief.
"That was intense," she whispered, glancing at the rather large wolf wagging its tail enthusiastically.
"You’ll get used to it eventually. And you should’ve seen him when the lord first decided to take it with him. Constantly lunging at anyone or anything and being electrocuted by the Lord," Rania said, chuckling.
"What?! It jumped at you?" Tokiko exclaimed in disbelief.
"Ah yes, that did happen. But that was a long time ago; he’s a changed wolfie now," Luan said, a grin on his face.
"Even though it was rather fun seeing him get electrocuted on a daily basis, now he behaves properly," he muttered, flashing a grin.
Then the food was served, and everyone ate their fill. Luan was very pleased with himself that he had chosen two maids with sigils related to cooking, or he wouldn’t have had such luxurious meals on the road.
Nodding to himself, he looked at the two cooks and gave them a thumbs-up. "Great job, you two."
Clover and Samantha both had a smug look on their faces, puffing out their chests. They also took a seat and started eating as well.
After everyone finished eating, Luan decided to take a stroll, as Lumi was constantly emitting weird emotions.
At first it felt like she was very happy, but after that the feelings she kept emitting kept changing. Luan thought she must have found something good, so together with Kian, he went on his way toward where Lumi was.
The others just stayed in the camp, with Bart taking over Kian’s post to guard the camp.
After leisurely walking through the woods for a while, they arrived at a large lake. Where Luan saw Lumi floating above it, staring at what looked like a miniature sun.
It was a round ball no larger than a tennis ball, floating there in place.
But the moment Luan saw it, he felt something stir on his back. ’That’s a spirit!’ he thought.
"Kian, what do you think about that over there?" Luan asked, pointing at the spot high above the lake where Lumi and the other spirit were floating.
Kian looked at where Luan was pointing but didn’t see anything. "My lord, I don’t see anything," he explained.
Luan just snapped his finger, and Kian saw a purple hawk appear, but that was still the only thing he could see.
"I can only see Lumi right now, my lord."
"Interesting," Luan muttered, carefully scrutinizing the round yellow ball.
He had no idea what type of spirit it was, but what he did know is that it was most likely a special case like Vira or Lumi.
It had the color of the sun, but could it be a sun spirit? He had no idea, but he wanted to contract with it.
"Bring it to me," he ordered Lumi.
And like that, Lumi carefully grasped the yellow ball between her claws and flew toward Luan with it.
Who looked at it with a smirk. ’Time to get stronger.’
