Chapter 66: Chapter 66

Luan lay sprawled in his chair, looking out the window at the departing Avalin and his entourage.

"He’s not for nothing one of the richest men on the planet," he said, exasperated.

Kian and Thomas both nodded as sweat dripped down their foreheads.

"But you did it, young master. And you even made a connection with him," Thomas proudly declared.

It hadn’t been easy at all, but after hours of negotiating, they had made a deal, and they were, well, rather proud of the outcome.

"Still, how did he know about this place? It’s barely a start-up and shouldn’t have come to his attention this fast," Kian muttered, scratching his beard deep in thought.

Luan shrugged. "We’ll never know, but isn’t it a good thing anyway? More funding and we got his backing."

"Ah, Kian. Go and brief Jone and the other two about this right now. Thomas, you’re coming with me back to the inn and helping us pack everything. I’ll also allow you to drive back with us in the carriage."

"Understood, my lord," Kian replied, leaving the office in a hurry.

"Thank you, young master," Thomas said with a slight bow.

As they left the office while going down the stairs, they saw Galan coming back up.

"Make sure you keep the business running smoothly, Galan. I’ll come back as soon as I can, but I don’t know when that will be, to be honest."

Galan bowed deeply at Luan’s words but didn’t say a word.

Luan gave a satisfied nod, and with Thomas following behind him, they made their way back to the inn, where all the maids and Kafele were frantically running around.

Making sure they had everything they would need for the trip to the Meskevela territory. They were buying rations and new utensils and cleaning and sharpening the weapons. Doing maintenance on the carriage, it was a total mess.

And Luan was leisurely drinking tea on the sofa, not minding any of it. Thomas stood awkwardly behind him, not sure what to do.

"Just go and prepare your bags. Tomorrow morning we depart," Luan stated.

After hearing that, Thomas made another small bow and quietly left to pack his bags and make some more last-minute purchases.

After a chaotic evening and night, Luan stood in front of the carriage at the brink of dawn. He glanced at everyone that stood behind him.

They were the slaves and everyone else he had hired for the Silver Coin. Raising an eyebrow, he looked confused. "Why are you all here?"

Giuseppe, who was also among them, took a step forward. "Well, of course, that is to see you off, young master. I may be only speaking for myself, but your presence has seriously improved my and my disciples’ lives," Giuseppe said, with a bow.

And as if on cue, everyone else did the same. "Thank you, young master!" they all shouted in unison.

Luan was quite surprised at this display of loyalty; he hadn’t thought about them at all. Everything he did was for his own benefit and comfort, but it seemed he had unintentionally helped quite a few people.

He looked around and saw Kian and the other servants give him a nod of approval. He had no clue what to do or say now, so he just entered the carriage, waving his hand dismissively.

After the carriage door closed and Ava got the carriage to move, everyone slowly dispersed back to where they were supposed to be.

Luan looked outside the window, heaving a sigh of relief after seeing everyone quietly leave.

"Damn, that was hella uncomfortable," he muttered, carefully looking around to make sure no one could hear him.

But unfortunately for him, he had said it louder than expected, and Tokiko and Celia couldn’t help but giggle a little.

"It seems even he has things he can’t handle very well," Tokiko whispered to Celia.

Who nodded in agreement. "We should take notes of those things; it might come in handy someday," Celia added.

And the two started giggling a little too hard, so even Luan could hear it.

Turning his head, he raised an eyebrow. "What’s so funny?" he inquired.

The two girls looked at one another and stood up with a serious face. "Nothing, my lord," Tokiko said, winking playfully at Celia.

Kian saw all this happen from a corner in the room and just smiled. While the other maids were busily doing some last-minute adjustments like cleaning or cooking.

Kafele and Luciano were stationed behind the door to make sure nothing would go wrong.

After staring at them for a while, Luan just shrugged and lay down on the sofa, yawning.

"Today we won’t be stopping anywhere, so just do what you want while we drive. Kian, you take care of everything while we leave or any bandits that we might encounter," Luan casually ordered as he closed his eyes.

"Understood, my lord."

"And make sure you loot them; you can’t go around wasting free money." After saying that, Luan turned himself around and fell fast asleep.

Kian chuckled but still made his way toward the front, where Ava was driving the carriage. Luciano just rolled his eyes while Kafele had a grin on his face.

Tokiko looked dumbfounded. ’Loot bandits? Isn’t he a noble? Why would he care about some petty bandits?’ she thought, scrunching her eyebrows.

Celia, who saw this, patted her on the shoulder. "Don’t think too much; you’ll only be stumped. He is rather unique."

Tokiko placed her hands in front of her mouth, trying not to burst out laughing.

"That makes a lot of sense. He is one of the first nobles I’ve ever met, but what I heard from my parents is they definitely don’t act like this," she replied.

As the two continued chattering, the carriage had finally left the city, and they were back in the wilderness surrounded by nothing but woods, monsters, and animals.

But that didn’t seem to bother anyone at all. Like it was the most normal thing ever, Tokiko was the only one that sometimes would look out the window with a slightly nervous expression.

But sensing the relaxed atmosphere in the carriage and seeing how no one seemed worried at all, she also felt more relaxed as they kept going deeper and deeper into the forest.
