Chapter 54: Chapter 54

After all the craftsmen left, Luan made his way back to his office, where Kian was already waiting, standing next to Galan.

Luan entered the room with Lily and took a seat at his desk. He took a good look at the three people standing in front of him.

"So are we ready now to go to the next step of the plan?" he inquired, barely keeping his straight face.

Kian took a step forward, and with a bow, he replied. "Yes, everything is ready now."

Hearing that, Luan’s face broke into a massive grin. After months of hard work and suffering, it was finally time to reap the rewards.

Standing up right after he sat down, Luan grabbed his coat and put it on.

"Let’s go, Kian; follow me. And Galan, get everything ready; we will be opening at exactly noon."

With that, Luan left the building and made his way into the city once more, with Kian following right behind him.

In his office, Galan stood there with his mouth wide open; he slowly turned toward Lily, who seemed used to this behavior.

"Is it normal for him to be so impulsive? Isn’t it fine to wait till tomorrow to open?" he asked, scratching his head.

Lily shrugged, "That’s the lord. Just get used to it; he is a little eccentric but a very good lord as well." After saying that, she left the office to prepare for the grand opening in two hours.

Galan stood there a while longer but recollected himself and also made his way downstairs to get everything ready. No errors were allowed; they had worked too hard on this.

Everything had to go perfectly; he would make sure everything would go smoothly.

Luan and Kian were leisurely walking around the city, seemingly unbothered that the time was ticking down until the opening.

"My lord. Why are you just walking around? And what is this so-called next stage of the plan?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

Luan had bragged about his genius idea to make sure The Silver Coin would succeed and become a lucrative business, but he hadn’t discussed the specifics with anyone, not even himself, his most trusted servant.

Which made him doubt this so-called plan a little, even though he had full trust in Luan’s abilities after observing everything he had done the past months for the business.

"You will see in a little bit; we’re almost there." Luan said, Without turning around, he kept marching in a certain direction.

Walking through the city, the scenery changed drastically; right after leaving The Silver Coin, they went through a more commercial district filled to the brim with all kinds of restaurants and shops.

And all kinds of people walking around, well-dressed rich merchants or common people. They all came here to do their shopping or maybe go to a restaurant.

Then, after leaving that, it looked more like a regular neighborhood; there was barely anyone outside, as most of these people were still at work or working in the fields to provide for their families.

And after leaving the lower-class neighborhood, they arrived at the slums, dilapidated houses, and people that looked like they could die any second.

Or others that were staring at Luan and Kian’s attire and grinning. Grabbing a knife from his bag and carefully following the two rich-looking people.

Kian looked around with disgust in his eyes; his guard was up seeing multiple suspicious individuals following them.

"My lord, why did you come here?" he inquired, looking all around to make sure nothing could happen to Luan.

"That is, of course, to find some people to spread the word of the business. After finding some here, we’ll find some in regular neighborhoods as well," he explained, not minding the suspicious individuals following them.

"Dispose of them."

With those few words, Kian moved like a shadow, and before the people that were following them could react, they felt their world turn upside down.

With eyes wide open, multiple heads fell to the ground, and Kian reappeared next to Luan, not a single drop of blood on his suit.

"Done," he replied.

Luan nodded, a grin spreading across his face. He needed to show these people that they weren’t to be messed with or trouble would keep popping up.

After that the duo kept walking through the slums, Kian still unsure what Luan meant by spreading the word. But he trusted Luan’s judgement and plans, so he just quietly followed his lord.

Then the two stood in front of a couple of relatively decent houses located in the slums, and Luan knocked a couple of times.

Patiently waiting for the residents to open the door.

After a while he heard someone groaning from inside the house, and the door slowly creaked open.

An unkept man that reeked like booze opened the door, his red eyes looking unfocused at the two men who had disturbed his drinking session.

"What do you want?"

Kian was about to step forward, but Luan stopped him, extending his arm in front of him.

"Hello sir, I am Luan, the boss of a new business that is about to open." Luan introduced himself with a pleasant smile.

"Hah! What do I care if you open a new business? What do you need, brat!" he shouted, clearly looking annoyed.

"I have a very enticing offer for you. Would you mind if I came inside to discuss the details?"

The man squinted, taking in their luxurious clothes. "Fine," he grunted, shuffling back inside.

Luan and Kian followed, sitting opposite the man. The house was a disaster—empty bottles strewn about, walls barely holding up. Luan wondered how it was even standing.

"So, what’s this offer?" the man demanded, irritated.

Luan leaned forward, a confident smirk on his lips. "It’s simple. You and your friends will help spread the word about The Silver Coin. In return, you’ll receive food, coin, and a place to drink for a few days."

The man’s eyes widened. "You want drunks and beggars to advertise for you?"

"Exactly," Luan replied. "The slums are overlooked. Desperate men talk a lot, and gossip spreads faster here. Convince them my place is worth their last coin, and you’ll eat well."

The man eyed Luan suspiciously before a grin spread across his face. "Deal."

Luan stood, motioning to Kian. "See, as for you follow Kian to The Silver Coin with a few buddies and we’ll explain what you need to do once you ge there."

The man gave a mock salute. "You got it, boss."

Leaving the slums, Luan looked back with a smirk. "Step one complete. Now time for the next step."
