Chapter 51: Chapter 51

"I want to buy a building with a budget of around ten thousand gold coins." Luan said, smirking.

Maria was a little surprised when she heard Luan say that but didn’t show it; opening the binder she had brought, she immediately went all the way to the back where all the high-end buildings were.

"Do you have any requirements? Or do you want to see most buildings that we have to offer?"

Now Luan tapped Kian on his shoulder, and he leaned back, enjoying the view in front of him.

Kian had a good eye for these things, and Luan trusted his judgment. No need to micromanage when his subordinates could handle the details.

Kian rolled his eyes and cleared his throat. "My lord would like a spacious building. And also he would like it if there was empty space surrounding it for when he wants to expand or build more." Kian explained.

Maria thought for a while and started flipping through the binder, looking at things that fit their budget and requirements.

Then she took out a paper and showed it to Kian: "How about this? It has three stories and is surrounded by forest. But it’s on the edge of the city."

Maria and Kian went back and forth for quite some time. Maria honestly introduced multiple solid places, listing their positives and negatives.

And Kian rejected some offers outright, and others he put aside to consider later.

Luan, on the other hand, was feeling bored, so he laid his head back down on Clover’s lap.

Clover looked at Maria with a smug look, almost taunting her, but Maria just looked uncomfortable and focused solely on the discussion with Kian.

After an hour of intense discussion going over every place that was within budget and met the requirements, they were left with five different buildings that offered everything they needed.

"Could we take these papers with us and think it over for a while and come back another day?" Kian asked,.

"That’s fine; these buildings have been for sale for a long time. I don’t expect anyone to buy them in the near future, so take your time." Maria replied.

Closing the binder, she promptly stood up, extending a hand to Kian.

Kian also stood up, and they exchanged a firm handshake, both wearing a professional business smile.

"When we have made our decision, we’ll come back and ask for you so we can finish the deal," he stated.

Maria nodded and left the room.

Then Kian turned to Luan and glared fiercely, "My lord..." He didn’t finish his sentence when he saw the grin on Luan’s face.

"Don’t worry, Kian. I know what I’m doing; let’s return now; we have a lot more work to do." Saying that they left the merchant guild and made their way back toward the inn.

When they arrived, they saw hundreds of people standing outside. All neatly lined up in rows, sorted by race, age, and gender.

"It seems they weren’t idling around while we were gone." Luan muttered, entering the inn and making his way up to his room.

Entering the room, he saw Thomas and the others hard at work at the table. "I have returned," he announced.

Everyone looked up from their papers, nodding and going right back to doing what they were doing.

Thomas was the only one that stood up carrying a stack of papers. "Here are all the contracts you asked for, young master."

Luan nodded. "Put them down there; we’ll start with the slaves now." Luan said, pointing at a table.

Thomas quickly put down the stack of papers and stood next to them, not knowing what to do next.

Luan sighed, "Thomas, keep making more contracts," pointing at the large table.

Thomas quickly made his way back to the table and started making even more contracts. ’He’s even worse than the first madam. And I thought she worked me to the bone,’ he grumbled.

"Celia, tell Luciano he can start bringing them up one by one. We’ll start now."

"Understood my lord," she replied, quickly leaving the room.

Luan took a seat on the sofa, glancing at the contracts Thomas had just placed down with a smirk.

"Time to recruit some staff," he muttered, rubbing his hands together.

A while later, Celia, Luciano, and a robust man entered the room; the robust man looked around in awe.

He had never seen such a luxurious room, and also these people bought hundreds of slaves at once, costing them thousands of gold coins.

The only thing he was confused about was why they had to wait outside and who that handsome young man was that the people who had bought him listened to.

Then he saw that same young man seated on a sofa, with a grin on his face.

"Introduce yourself." The young man commanded.

The robust man looked at Luciano, unsure what to do.

"He’s my lord, and he’s also the one that bought you, so listen to him." Luciano said, crossing his arms.

He was dissatisfied that he had forgotten to tell all these slaves that Luan was the lord. Now he had shown Luan something unsightly; reflecting on it, he glanced at Luan, hoping he didn’t mind.

"I am Galan. I was an adventurer, but due to bad spending habits and some other circumstances, I was forced into slavery," he said, a sad look in his eyes.

"Okay Galan, this is what’s going to happen. You can either sign that contract and work for my business or stay a slave and do some random work that I’ll assign you based on my whims." Luan said, pointing at the stack of papers.

"Sign a contract? You mean you hired a contract master?" Galan looked shocked; contract masters were a very exclusive bunch costing thousands of gold coins a month; only the richest and most prestigious merchants could hire one.

"No, that’s wrong, Galan. I did not hire him; he works for my family, and it’s not just a contract master; it’s an imperial contract master." Luan smugly explained, glancing at Thomas.

Galan stood there, mouth agape; if what this young man said is true, that means he must be from a very prestigious family. If he could work for him, that would be a blessing.

"I’ll sign it." He resolutely said.
