Chapter 50: Chapter 50
After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant and went on their way to the next point on the agenda.
"So now we’re going to the merchant guild, right?"
"That’s right, my lord, but please act with restraint there. They’re a bunch of stuck-up people, and they’re the highest power in the Xandrian Freeholds," Kian said.
Luan could only sigh; he wasn’t looking forward to that. People in power were always so rigid.
"Kian, you can do the talking; I’ll just chill in the back with Clover," Luan muttered.
Slowing his pace, he walked next to Clover, placing his arm around her waist and pulling her close.
Kian rolled his eyes but refrained from commenting as he kept leading the way.
Clover, on the other hand, had a smile on her face. "Don’t worry, my lord. I’ll take care of you," she said, snuggling close.
Luan was momentarily surprised, but right after, he started enjoying it. With a grin, he held her even closer.
Walking through the bustling city, they got some weird looks from the people around them, but Luan didn’t seem to mind at all, nor did Clover.
Kian rubbed his temples as murmurs swirled around them, his ears catching snippets of drunken slurs and envious whispers. He quickened his pace, hoping to avoid trouble.
In a cafe, a couple of men were happily drinking and chatting about nothing in particular.
"Wow, look at that hot chick," a man with short blond hair said.
Pointing at Clover with a grin on his face, the two men who were drinking with him turned around, not expecting anything, but what they saw left them speechless.
"You’re right, Jack. She’s a total hottie."
Then they saw Luan holding her close, and they all rolled their eyes in unison.
"I bet he can’t even satisfy her," Jack grumbled, standing up from his seat.
The other two just patiently waited for the spectacle that was about to unfold.
"Oi, lady! Why don’t you come over here, and I’ll show you what that mommy’s boy couldn’t?" Jack shouted, stumbling toward Luan and Clover.
Clover winced, standing behind Luan. He looked at her, then at the drunkard, and snapped his fingers.
The man fell to the ground, spasming and foaming at the mouth.
Luan looked at the drunkard with disgust, and with another snap of his fingers, the drunkard lost a hand.
"Don’t bother me like that, bastard," Luan spat.
"My lord, please!" Kian grumbled, hurrying his pace to arrive even a little bit sooner at the merchant guild’s headquarters.
As the trio hurriedly left the street, following Kian’s lead, the other two men drinking with the man who lay unconscious on the ground went to help him up.
Only then did they realize what had happened. With panicked looks on their faces, they stared at the severed hand lying on the ground.
"What the hell! That bastard cut off a hand for what? Drunken rambling?" a man with short brown hair shouted, glaring at where the trio had left their sight.
The other men glanced at each other. "Could he be someone important? The woman and older guy did look like servants, didn’t they?" a skinnier man with long black hair reasoned, looking around to make sure they weren’t about to get disposed of.
Thinking back, he was also wearing expensive clothes. Did Jack get in over his head?
"Still, why was it necessary to cut off his hand after knocking him unconscious?" the man with short brown hair stated, also looking around nervously.
Knocking him unconscious was fine, but cutting off a hand? Way too far.
"There’s nothing we can do about that. Or do you have something in mind, Mark?" the skinnier man inquired, seeing the look on Mark’s face.
Mark turned toward him. "If we see him again, we’ll give him a taste of his own medicine. How about it, Jason?" Mark said.
Jason thought for a moment and then just nodded. They probably wouldn’t see that young man again anyway.
Inside the merchant guild’s headquarters, Luan, Kian, and Clover were waiting inside a private room for someone to come and help them.
Luan was using Clover’s thighs as a pillow. With a grin, he lay there, not minding Kian, who was going crazy.
"My lord, please stop this. You can do all this at the inn; why must you do it here?" he said, trying to get Luan to take a seat.
"Don’t worry so much, Kian. Clover doesn’t seem to mind at all," he stated, pointing at Clover’s face.
She had a silly smile on her face, but seeing Kian glare at her, she quickly hid it by placing her hands in front of her face.
"My lord, of course she wouldn’t mind that. She’s your servant," Kian said, exasperated. He really needed Luan on his best behavior right now.
But it seemed impossible. With a sigh, he stopped walking around the room and just took a seat on the bench.
Then he saw Luan get up, and with a fierce glare, he heaved a sigh of relief.
"Why now?" Kian asked.
Knock, knock.
"Come in," Luan replied, giving Kian a smug look.
’It seems he was just acting like he didn’t care. But how did he know when they were coming?’ Shaking his head, he stopped worrying about it. As long as Luan acted properly, that was all that mattered.
The door slowly opened, and a beautiful woman entered. She wore an elegant black dress and had long black hair styled in a ponytail. Her black dress accentuated her curves.
When Kian saw this, he could only facepalm as he took a quick glance at Luan. And as he expected, Luan was checking her out, not even trying to hide it.
Then he looked at Clover, hoping she would do something to stop Luan, but she just glared at the woman who had just entered.
"Hello, my name is Maria, and I will be helping you today," the woman said, taking a seat across from the three.
She put down the large binder on the table and opened it.
"I heard you were looking for a building for a business. Is that correct?" she politely asked.
"That’s right," Luan answered, still checking her out.
Maria looked surprised. She had thought Kian was the one she was going to talk with, but then this handsome young man, who was clearly checking her out, had replied instead.
"Sir, are you the leader?" she asked Luan, wanting to make sure he wasn’t speaking without the older man’s permission.
"Yes, these two are my personal servants," Luan said, rolling his eyes.
With a slight bow, Maria apologized. "My apologies."
"Are you looking to rent or buy a building, and what is your budget?"
