Chapter 48: Chapter 48

"Is he okay?" Celia whispered to Clover.

Clover shrugged, not sure how to reply to that question. The two stared at Luan for a while until they saw Kian stand in front of them with his arms crossed.

"What are you two doing?" they heard while still staring at Luan.

"We are admiring the lord," Clover said.

Kian sighed, and with a snap of his fingers, Ava and Samantha grabbed Clover and Celia from behind, dragging them away.

"Stop staring and get back to work," he sternly said.

"And my lord, could you please control yourself a little? Act with dignity, please," Kian pleaded.

"Yeah, yeah, my bad," Luan stated, closing the chest, still grinning.

"You said we doubled it, right? So that means we have a little over twenty thousand gold coins right now," Luan muttered to himself, all kinds of ideas popping into his head.

"That’s right, my lord," Kian affirmed.

Seated on the sofa, Luan started thinking of all the different approaches he could take to start his business, The Silver Coin.

Kian stood close by, not saying a word, with perfect posture, ready to answer Luan’s every order.

"Let’s go with that approach," Luan mumbled to himself after thinking it through thoroughly.

"Kian, call Thomas."

"As you wish, my lord," Kian replied.

Knocking on Thomas’s door, Thomas groggily woke up from his nap.

"Who is that, and what do you want?" he said, rubbing his eyes.

"It’s me, Kian. My lord has asked for your presence, so get ready ASAP."

"Ah! Yes, at once!" he shouted, jumping straight out of his bed and quickly putting on presentable clothes, hastily combing his hair together.

Opening the door, he followed Kian to where Luan was seated.

"Did you need me, young master?" he asked with a bow.

"Yes, tomorrow I need you to draft that new contract for the slaves and make it a lot better. I’ll need it around tomorrow afternoon," Luan ordered.

"It shall be done, young master!" Thomas loudly affirmed, almost saluting.

"Okay, that was all. You can go; just make sure you’re ready tomorrow afternoon."

With that, Thomas left and entered his room again.

"Tomorrow will be a busy day, Kian, so make sure to get enough rest and tell the others as well."

After saying that, Luan stood up and made his way toward his own room.

Kian nodded and went toward Luan’s personal servants, still cleaning and working hard.

"The lord said tomorrow will be a tiring day, so get some rest now, all of you," he repeated Luan’s words.

They all nodded, and after saying goodnight to one another, everyone went straight to bed. No one wanted to disappoint Luan or, worse, annoy him and get on his bad side.

Luan, Kian, and Clover were walking around the city.

"I’ll follow your lead, Kian; you know your way better than me here," Luan said, taking in the marvelous sight of the city.

It was bustling with people walking around everywhere, and there were shops everywhere, from red-light districts to weapon shops; they had everything here. It wasn’t called the city of trade for nothing.

Following behind Kian, they leisurely went around tasting foods from booths and entering shops just to check things out.

Even though they went out with a clear purpose, that did not mean they couldn’t have some fun in the meantime; not everything should be rushed.

Luan had made this very clear to everyone this morning during breakfast.

He had handed everyone assignments to complete and ordered everyone to relax as well. They were going to be here for a while, and he needed everyone at their best.

That meant they needed a healthy work-life balance. Just thinking about their surprised looks when they heard his orders made him smile.

"My lord, this is the weapon shop I told you about this morning," Kian said, pointing at Guiseppe’s weapon shop.

After taking a stroll around the city, they had arrived at one of their destinations for today—the weapon shop Kian had praised for its quality weapons and affordable prices.

Kian opened the door, and Luan and Clover entered, looking around the shop. Luan was impressed.

’This really is a gem,’ he thought, giving Kian a thumbs-up.

"Great job, Kian; this is why having capable subordinates is so nice," Luan said, grabbing a sword from the rack.

Inspecting it closely, feeling the handle, and closely looking at the blade, he then put it back.

"And my lord, what do you think about the quality of the weapons here?" Kian asked.

Luan shrugged. "I’m not well-versed in weapons, so I have no clue, Kian."

Clover chuckled, and Kian just stood there with his mouth open.

He sighed dramatically, rubbing his temples. "Just say that immediately. Then why did you even inspect the sword?"

"No reason, I just thought they looked pretty cool, so I wanted to feel it," Luan replied.

"Let’s just get down to business. This here is Guiseppe; he’s the owner of this shop," Kian said, pointing at the dwarf standing behind the counter.

"Guiseppe, this is my lord, Luan Meskevela. He came here today to ask you some things," Kian introduced the two of them efficiently.

Luan stopped in front of Guiseppe and took a closer look at the rather muscular dwarf.

"Not bad, so you’re the one that bought most of the spoils," Luan said, nodding to himself.

"I would like to place a rather large custom order. Are you up for the job?"

Guiseppe looked at Kian, and Kian just stood behind Luan, not saying a word.

"Tell me the details, and then I’ll decide," Guiseppe said, taking a piece of paper and a pencil.

"Alright, Kian," Luan said, opening his hand behind him, and Kian promptly placed a piece of paper into his outstretched palm.

"Here, this is the whole thing," Luan said, handing the note to the dwarf.

Guiseppe took it and read through it carefully.

Putting the note down, he looked back at Luan.

"Are you serious? What do you need this many weapons for?" he inquired.

He was a blacksmith, but he still had morals; he wouldn’t accept orders this large for sinister purposes, even if the requester was the one who had helped him tremendously.
